Very good video Brian! Go out to the web site (do not use links in the message to get there), sign in and see for yourself if there is a problem.

There's one SMS currently going around in Australia purporting to be from a road toll company stating that the toll trip account is overdue. The amount is usually less than $5.00. When the victim does fall for it, they scammers go for the works and spend up on the CC account.
That is because the toll companies are operating under false contracts in direct violation of contract law and the people were never allowed to vote on toll roads that enrich private companies. The toll companies sponsor the scammers, just like the govs sponsor other gov related scams.
I get this scam a lot, which is funny because I have no car, no licence, don't drive, hardly leave the house, live on an island state that has no toll roads, and haven't been off the island in over 20 years. I'm almost tempted to listen to them trying to tell me I definitely owe this and that, then inform them of those details and have them get snippy and tell me the police will get me - using the information on my non-existent registration for my non-existent car, but it's probably just not worth the effort.

Since I have frequent deliveries the first couple times I got US Postal and FedEx emails and texts I almost fell for it. Something made me stop before selecting anything. Links in emails were dead. If it's legit and you disregard nothing bad will happen to you, maybe delayed contact.
The vast majority of companies don't text you. So if I see a text from a company I do business with I normally delete the text without reading it. Those companies generally use email. Most of the time you can tell by looking at the email address they used if it is a correct email address. But when in doubt you can check directly with the company on-line or by phone using the phone number from their website.
I get the Microsoft scam calls all the time so I played along, acted like I was hard of hearing, then acted like I was hearing voices, "you hear that?" Told them they had to go slow when talking because I had to type with my middle finger "after a war injury." After about 40 minutes they asked if I had typed everything as asked and they then said to reboot. When asked if I could see the Microsoft logo I said yes, "It says U B U N T U." The guy said a few things about my mother and grandmother and hung up.
Personaly I don't use a mobile for any business stuff so I don't get these kind of problems. I use just one bank and they never ever call you, it's part of their policy. Incidently if you get any fake calls you can search the number online and see who else has had them.
Thankfully my phone automatically puts these kinds of emails to the spam section and I'm able delete them all at once. Sometimes I'll have only a few that don't but it's gotten better than in the past.

We have a community account on social media that people could interact with whatever subject floats their boat. Keep on trucking.
Got an SMS yesterday saying I'd get locked out of my PayPal account if I didn't change my password!!! These Phishing scams *ALWAYS* have generic language!!!....often with bad grammar and/or bad spelling!!!

"We" are just individuals with very little ability to attack these criminals, on the other hand all the big organizations you talk about have the power and money to do something about them, more than they do now, its in there long term interest to do more to stop them, When ever I get asked security questions such as mothers maiden name I ask the caller to give me a letter out of the name, if they refuse or get it wrong I explain what there "parentage is" and hang up. Always ask them question as they ask you.
People aren't born knowing everything, people can have lapses and failures in comprehension and judgement for all kinds of reasons. For example, people don't know how to perform CPR or treatment for snakebite unless they're taught: not knowing particular things isn't stupidity, informing people isn't hard, and it's no skin off your nose. Even the scam experts have fallen for scams.
Thanks for letting people to be aware of these scams. Hi, I just had a Royal Mail asking me to pay for a redelivery ( and yes I am waiting for a letter). When I looked at the message it looked very good, although when I click on other links, they don't work. I reported to Royal Mail.
I've had the DPD one a few times saying that a delivery requires a payment of a certain amount of money plus after I cancelled Netflix I had one asking me to update my details as they couldn't get the monthly payment.
The courier company scams are easy to spot because they never contain a reference number with your unique consignment number. All genuine couriers sending you SMS messages to give you tracking information for your shipment include a unique reference number into the URL. That's how you can identify if the message is a scam/phishing message or genuine .
Yes they can. In the US, the word is out to totally avoid using the word "yes" when you are on the phone with tele- marketing people. If they ask "is this Mrs. X" say "who wants to know?" If they answer vague and immediately come back with another question fishing for a "yes", hang up. They can record your voice response and use it on other sites after they claim to be you and "you" lost your password. Sometimes technology is too advanced for our own good.
I've seen deep fake videos which are amazing so I'm not surprised your voice can be cloned. Worrying because my bank ask very simple questions and use voice ID tech to verify identity
Wife and I recently signed up for a service (DoorDash). Withing a week we both started getting scam SMS saying our bank account had been compromised.
@@kg6801 Don't be tempted. Sometimes all you have to do is press the link. They'll Trojan you. And that my friend might find it's way into you're Bank Account. Be careful. Stay safe..
Since I have frequent deliveries the first couple times I got US Postal and FedEx emails and texts I almost fell for it. Something made me stop before selecting anything. Links in emails were dead.
If it's legit and you disregard nothing bad will happen to you, maybe delayed contact.
To solve this problem do not answer the scumbags.
I like filling in fake details on the 1s I don't use
I just hope they try to use the details and fail
Thankfully I never click on any links, I will go to my account via example Amazon's site. Never give out any information.
We have no branches even close to where we live, and I’m only in wales, the banks know these vulnerabilities, but profits come before customers
The problem is, a lot of stores are closing....on stores promote better deals.....people jump at better deals...
I get a scam to call at exactly 8:28 am every single day, it is so annoying.
😂😂😂
Personaly I don't use a mobile for any business stuff so I don't get these kind of problems. I use just one bank and they never ever call you, it's part of their policy. Incidently if you get any fake calls you can search the number online and see who else has had them.
Thankfully my phone automatically puts these kinds of emails to the spam section and I'm able delete them all at once. Sometimes I'll have only a few that don't but it's gotten better than in the past.
If you can find a Bank Branch..you're doing better than me
lol they are closing down a lot
I've had alleged Amazon calls regarding my Prime Membership.
When I realised who & what they were, I say 'I can't talk now and to please email me. You will have my account details in front of you, as it was you who phoned me.'
I had a prime call 3 weeks ago and I know it was not Amazon
I had about 8-9 emails on my pc a week for three weeks last Month. I just look at there email address and that confirms its a scam + they never have my name on em. I just block them all. they were from all the ones you mentioned.
I've received NO SMS scams as I asked my carrier to turn off texts to my phone last Sept. No texts since.
We have a community account on social media that people could interact with whatever subject floats their boat.
I don’t know how the scammers can access to this because “good-looking guys” will ask you personally to accept their invitation to befriend them. No way Jose, I have better things to do in my life. Keep on trucking.
The most outlandish message I got was to pay for a hot water heater delivery …the phone number was from Hawaii.
If a suspicious number calls my phone,I let Google assistant answer it and the scammer hangs up quickly.
Got an SMS yesterday saying I'd get locked out of my PayPal account if I didn't change my password!!! These Phishing scams *ALWAYS* have generic language!!!....often with bad grammar and/or bad spelling!!!
Yeah, PayPal is popular one for scammers
I've had most of these spam messages even for firms I don't have an account with. They all get deleted.
Wise move to delete them
I do no banking or ordering from my phone. I never pay by PayPal on the phone. So now I am getting texts about how my PayPal is canceled. What account would that be? Fake fake fake. Prime is another example.. I'm sick of this. There are lots of others. It makes me want to give up email and texting.
You cannot save stupid from itself. Because you can't fix stupid.
Royal Mail is another one doing the rounds, I hate some the other month
I don't even touch the ones that prompt "Reply with STOP to ...." so they can't use the reply as live/fished number.
That's how you can identify if the message is a scam/phishing message or genuine .
me too , I thought it strange as I hadn't order anything , so completely ignored it
I heard that the scammers can even clone your voice now after recording it during scam call.
@@hankfox4170 I usually wait for them to talk, but 9 times out of 10 they hang up.
I've seen deep fake videos which are amazing so I'm not surprised your voice can be cloned.
Worrying because my bank ask very simple questions and use voice ID tech to verify identity
Yes they do and can make you say anything
@@hankfox4170 they don't even need that now they can say any words with your voice.
I have a friend who was getting spam calls at weird hours so she was forced to get a "smart block" feature on her phone.
You get ones such as this saying they are ATT as well so watch out for those.
Exellent info brian,thankyou
You're welcome
Wife and I recently signed up for a service (DoorDash). Withing a week we both started getting scam SMS saying our bank account had been compromised. It would seem that somehow during the sign p process somebody got hold of enough info (phone number & bank name) to pass on to scammers to then attack us. We cancelled the service we signed up for and have started going after DoorDash.
These are emails shown on the video, not SMS text messages. Yes, it's spam but can you address text messages like the video title suggests?
I get fake Amazon email. That I bought an iPhone and Amazon is verifying if I am aware of this. Or my account will be suspended due to declined credit card charge. I simply ignore it, or I forward the email to the company's security. Thanks for sharing that valuable info.
I was scammed which cost me so much money. I had to block my card and changed my bank account....now I decided to buy cash at a shop....no longer online. It is very inconvenient but after losing a thousand $ I am NOT going to do it any longer.
Hi, Brian. This is not a problem for me, as I don't have a phone. LOL.
I'm seriously considering going that route myself.
@@noncompulsoryl My main reason for not having one is that I live so far out in the woods that there's no cell service, and I almost never leave the house.
@@OlettaLiano Ah, I see. Actually that sounds pretty good too 😁
@@noncompulsoryl I ghostwrite for a living, so having a house in the woods where it's quiet is perfect for me.
no phone, wow
I get "Order confirmation" emails for Anti virus or Microsoft products, with a US phone number to call if you want to query. But, I didnt order anything and I'm not phoning the US.
So sick 😷 of the fraud.
thank u so much
You are most welcome
Thanks for the scam information 👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🎯
IMO do not click on ANY link, on ANY message. Just go to the actual bank website and log in directly, or use a phone to call the number printed on the credit card itself...even if the message looks genuine.
Iyes Mbah Gugel Thank you
I get one of these text messages daily. I delete and report. I got a phone call from ‘ state police’ requesting a donation. He wanted my info. I hung up.
Simple, I ignore anything mobile and when in doubt I check-in with the service from my desktop. I also have a spam-blocker for calls which has eliminated hundreds of spam calls daily.
Thank you great help for us old ones
I get them for a credit union (always the wrong one), for Amazon, for Visa cards. Usually a number starting with 1410 but only 9 or 10 numbers. Oh and a few FedEx.
The word parcel is a tipoff. Amazon, etc, use package.
This is like junk mail. Would you respond to junk? Since using post office for illegal reasons is federal crime and people don't use common sense or what something for nothing email is easier. Call the vendor but not a number on spam. Don't click.
Scam scam scam... imagine the world when the only scam you very rarely ( if at all) got was when someone burgled your house or you popped to the bank with a dodgy SWAG bag and a gun.
But, branches are being closed
I had a scam I got a message from supposed friend on Facebook and it said I’m sorry your friend died to see all the information click here anyways when you click there it takes you to your Facebook account. We have to login, so I’m sure they try to steal your login information based on that. Be careful when you get even messages from friends supposedly thank God the friend sent me a message back and said I’ve been hacked. Don’t open it.
Good report
I nearly fell for this very thing, it was my bank that said, if this is not usual too you, then cancel. I did and it is still asking me to Finnish ure order.
I have seen them all. And they keep trying. I wasn't born yesterday. I find it easier to just block them.
I call the bank and ask them if they sent me a text. My bank sends me alerts about scams.
Contact your provider and let them know illegal activity is taking place on their net work, let them deal with it
Anytime I get text messages or Anything else like those i Don't open just Automatically Delete ! An in my Spam Email folder i quickly Scan the folder to see if something i Positively know about or gotten ending up in spam , if not I Automatically Delete the Spam Messages!
