So many of my friends used to make fun of me ....a black man in love with JT's music. To me music has no color. Good is Good Talent is Talent
Continue to Shower the People James
Yeah, music definitely has no color. As a white kid growing up in the Sixties I was a huge fan of Diana Ross (and still am), and I also got made fun of !
I’m in my 40s, saw Chicago & Earth Wind & Fire, music has no bounds, live your best life
I'm a black man who grew up with 70s rock and roll. I listen to ALL music, including country. If I like it, i listen to it. I apologize to NOBODY.
As an asian woman born in the 90s in southeast asia, music knows no color, race nor age. Love him so much.
Lewis...love your comment. I totally agree. When it comes to music, good is good! When Duke Ellington was asked what kind of music he liked..he said "I like GOOD Music". Amen, Brother! Music, to me, is the art form that expresses the best of us humans and can reach people in a way that touches our souls and connects all of us to each other.
The world needs more James Taylors. But I'm so glad we have at least one.
I still play Old country like this, patsycliine, Glen Campbell
Hear! Hear!
James Taylor's music is my hidden place when the world is in chaos.
Mine Too!!!!
ME TOO❤️🎶
♥️
Mine Too...or before I sing and I want to practice my harmony
For me too
My dad passed away this morning and this was his favorite song❤ He was the best.
Gentle wishes to you, in memory of your Dad.
@@stumclellan5988 Thank you💛
I'm sorry for your loss. May his memory always be a blessing.
@@ggaggagga4 Thank you❤️
I'm not ashamed to admit that this song gets me teary-eyed. The reminiscing lyrics, James' voice, and everything else makes me FEEL it.
Walking Man is my tear jerker. Sounds like he is singing about me!!
Why does James always - always - make me feel better? I can’t imagine my life without his beautiful words and music. He has always been there during the highs and during the lows. I remember clearly where I stood when I first heard this song. JT, you are vety special to me.
Judi Roth, could not agree more. Can't imagine my life without James and Jackson Browne.
I’ve been in a James Taylor and Carole King mood for a while. How could you not feel good after listening to this music?
Agree and the same.
His songs are very special to me.
Cheers 🍻 to J.T.
I agree. I played the grooves off of "used to be her town" after my break up with my first love. He was singing my life.
James Taylor is like a warm cup of cocoa, like a good conversation with a good friend 😊
No racism meant but it’s great to see people who are black that still listens to this kind of music. Warms my heart (no pun intended) cocoa 😉
Exactly.
JT = an old friend.
Amen! Or a hot cup of tea and a warm blanket 😊
As an African American woman James Taylor’s music truly is soulful
First kiss, ever I took, like a page from a romance book, the sky opened and the earth shook, down on copperline.
I didn’t grow up in Carolina, but this lands. I love this man and this song.
I remember when this album first came out. I bought it on cassette without hearing any of it. I just knew if James put it out it would be good. I popped it in the player while I was cleaning the house. This song came on and I smiled to myself...oh James, you did it again ♡
seen him in uk twice at manchester. simply great.
Damn right!!!
Even the old folks never knew
Why they call it like they do
I was wondering since the age of two
Down on Copperline
Copper head, copper beech
Copper kettles sitting side by each
Copper coil, cup o'Georgia peach
Down on Copperline
Half a mile down to Morgan Creek
Leaning heavy on the end of the week
Hercules and a hog-nosed snake
Down on Copperline
We were down on Copperline
One Summer night on the Copperline
Slip away past supper time
Wood smoke and moonshine
Down on Copperline
One time I saw my daddy dance
Watched him moving like a man in a trance
He bought it back from the war in France
Down onto Copperline
Branch water and tomato wine
Creosote and turpentine
Sour mash and new moon shine
Down on Copperline
Down on Copperline
First kiss ever I took
Like a page from a romance book
The sky opened and the earth shook
Down on Copperline
Down on Copperline, yeah
Took a fall from a windy height
I only knew how to hold on tight
And pray for love enough to last all night
Down on Copperline
Day breaks and the boy wakes up
And the dog barks and the birds sings
And the sap rises and the angels sigh, yeah
I tried to go back, as if I could
All spec house and plywood
Tore up and tore up good
Down on Copperline
It doesn't come as a surprise to me
It doesn't touch my memory
Man, I'm lifting up and rising free
Down on Copperline
Half a mile down to Morgan Creek
I'm only living for the end of the week
Hercules and a hog-nosed snake
Down on Copperline, yeah
Take me down on Copperline
Oh, down on Copperline
Lay me down on Copperline

Im 60 years old.James Taylor has been part of my life since the mid 70s,ive seen him in concert at least a dozen times ,each time is special and im always struck with the reality that im in the presence of greatness,he is unique and there will never be another that will even come close ,he is no doubt a national treasure and i trully love JT
I love him so much. I could not imagine this world without his wonderfull music. Mr. Taylor was in Indianapolis in '78 or '79 at Market Square Arena, entertaining us with Kim Karnes as the opening artist. What a great time!
Younger folks need to embrace his soothing music and voice. Might help them realize what good music is.
He is magic✌🌻🎸
No matter what kind of day I’m having, I can take a drive on these North Carolina back roads, turn up James Taylor’s greatest hits, and everything just feels better.
Nothing better! Windows down. Old tobacco barns and past weathered family plots. Winding roads and cotton candy sunsets. A little JT on the box!! Man!! That’s good stuff!!
@@PhilipCarter-xl9px Yes!
James this world is a better place b/c you exist in it...
Has been classed as having an INFP personality not many of us, but I am one of those people been shown before haha, it's interesting for the sort of personality types I think though don't live by it there's things I agree with and don't but yeah it's really interesting :)
This sort of explains it all ruclips.net/video/-XlwQyD2WVQ/видео.html love peoples differences myself find them remarkably interesting!
For sure...
Through the good and the bad, Mr Taylor has always been there.
my first album........JamesTaylor .1970.
Perfect song. Great melody, smart lyrics. James always play to his strengths. Never sounds like he’s trying too hard
James Taylor is is like fine old vintage wine..he gets better and better with age.
His voice at this age has survived the test of time..mellow , with a smooth taste to my musical soul with his picking style on his Olsen guitar, he is an American musical icon and legend.
Yes, and I'm really thankful we still have James Taylor. Listened to him as a kid and appreciate him even more as an adult.
Whenever I need to lower my blood pressure I listen to this song.
whenever i need to lift up a heavyweight I listen to this song
This song…it kinda rips my soul. I had several “Copperlines” as a kid in the midwest, wonderful places in nature, where I felt out of the reach of everything and everyone, and where I would spend hours at a time. A ravine full of elms, with a creek and a pond at the bottom; a patch of forest way out beyond the cornfields, the farthest I’d ventured from the house alone when I first found it; a magical clearing in the forest full of sumac and long grass like a carpet, even the marshes in the huge field across from our house. I would sometimes show them to people but most didn’t really seem to get it. All of them gone, demolished, built up today, not a trace of those places left. It’s true that they remain in my memory, but they’re not untouched - they’re forever infused with the knowledge that I was one of the last people who ever knew them, loved them, experienced them, and cared about them.
But even if they did exist today, could I really ever go back? Part of the beauty was my own innocence, my freedom from worries about rent, politics, wars… If our society has given us amazing connectedness and technology, it’s also taken away much of our ability and opportunity to leave it all behind and just be one with a place. More than anything else, the thing I miss most from childhood is that ability to see everything with wonder, as if it’s always fresh and new.
The voice in the tapestries of our luves
Happy 76th birthday James Vernon Taylor,March 12,2024.
Possibly my favorite. It has such a lovely dreamy quality to it.
Yes!
this must be the prettiest song i have ever heard, James' voice just soothes meso..
I'd be honored if some fans of JT's later compositions (late 80s & onward) would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of NEVER DIE YOUNG and FROZEN MAN on my channel in tribute to the master. Live acoustic with no digital editing. Thanks and peace.
Into the mystic
You're welcome.
2:05 "First kiss ever I took, tore a page from a romance book.." such a lovely line
I like the following line, too:
"The sky opened and the earth shook."
Great imagery!
Bob Kovacs It's so great.. the opening acousitc guitar that james plays makes my heart skip a beat
Ferne Callaghan Those two lines are near perfection in a song filled with beautiful lyrics, but I miss the tear-inducing fiddle that follows the delivery of these lines on the studio version - it's maybe the one thing missing on this TV special session.
Bob Kovacs You can almost feel love hitting you, no?
dronacharya67 It's not the same without violin
James Taylor’s kinds of music are like nature, relaxing and peaceful🌿
Ahhhh Squibnocket. My heart. Nothing like slinging eels at 2AM under a star lit sky for Stripers….
"the first kiss ever I took
tore a page from a romance book..." what a line!
James Taylor's gentle lyrics give humanity to turmoil of our daily struggles.
James Taylor's songs all make me feel as if I am snuggled up in a warm quilt in front of a warm fire in the fireplace with a fine glass of wine, mellow and cozy.
Well said!
It's truly a Holy Moment.
Thanks, James Taylor for this timeless classic and a great performance.
God Bless!
JT's music makes me feel like life is beautiful.
im black and 15 i love this song. People need to take the time of there day and put all these phones down quit all the violence against police officers and go back to simpler times. Back when you got milk in glass jars delivered to you on your porch and having jobs at 12 or 13 years old. Gosh i wish i could have lived those times
I completely agree with you @Karl Wilson
if only all 15 year olds thought like you did! James Taylor is amazing! check out all his music it's great!
Nice sentiment, but life is infinitely more complex than nostalgia would have us to believe. And solutions generally come in the form of innovation, progress, and two-way cooperation rather than recoiling back to a time that probably wasn't particularly utopian for a great many people in our society. Still JB is a national treasure and I'm glad you're able to appreciate his genius.
You sound like someone who has their head on straight!
Karl Wilson fuc the police
Im a black man and i must say i love the sweet sounds of James Taylor.
No racial borders when it comes to good music like James'! Everyone welcome - brings us all together!
How an admittedly troubled guy had the ability to relay such tranquility through his gift is proof of a higher power
Or it could just be a mark of great musicianship...
somehow James always kept the trouble out of his voice... I'd be honored if some JT fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of NEVER DIE YOUNG and FROZEN MAN on my YT channel in tribute to 2 of the master's great compositions from the late 80s period. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and peace.
It takes special talent to make a live performance sound this good.
I wondered, why the bump of listens right at 3:00. Ahhh, the brilliance of Michael Landau in the fill... only Mike!!!
I saw him do this live in Philly. It was after that I realized I could leave this world and may never hear something as perfect.
Had to find this song again. It was played at a family friends funeral who was taken by cancer just months after my grandmother. She was merely 37
Rest in peace Valerie
His voice is like apple butter. Sweet and smooth.
This guy is a national treasure.
f ever there was a case of a person ageing like the finest wine, JT is it!!!!! Stunning!!!!!
No words can describe how ethereal and magical James Taylor's music🌿
A guy who succumb to temptations in his earlier days by biting into the apple is now very comfortable in his own skin and it's apparent by the smile on his face when he sings.
God bless this man James Taylor and his gift of music to the world!
❤️✊❤️✊ just saw your show last night with Jackson Browne at PNC with my parents. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to. Both were amazing. Hearing you play this song live was incredible. Thank you James!!!! A truly amazing all time songwriter. Made our summer up here in NJ! We love James Taylor
James is a gift to humanity! I love his voice, guitar technique, lyrics and kind spirit! Thank you from a fan.
As a pretty accomplished guitar player… he makes it look so simple and easy… I promise it isn’t. The reason he does that for a living and I’m a doctor and amateur musician. He was touched by God and made to be a gift to the rest of us weary souls trying to catch a break
What a voice god blessed this man with.
It's hard to pick a favorite James Taylor song, but this is up there in my top 5 for sure. So cool to see Don Grolnick playing piano on this too! James had the best session musicians on his recordings
One of my favorites by James very talented songwriter and musician
The tears just cascade down my face..this is magical...
Mr Taylor has that effect on me also.
I know what you mean. My reaction is INSTANT goosebumps
This is my favorite song by him. He has such a nice voice it relaxes my body and mind.
A gem sung by a gift to music.
What a voice.
During a stressful day, something always brings me to this song. The melody seems to calm me down and helps me remember a time when life was simple.
I use it as my alarm to wake up each morning for the same reason 😊
incredible musical craft happening here by each and every member of this group. James knows how to pick them, and it really shows. The refinement of this performance is stunning.
Right on. Jame's has always surrounded himself with very tasteful musicians.
Well said!
This is my favorite JT song ever. Such amazing story he’s telling. Whole TV series can’t pack this much detail in.
When he changed the line to “only living til the end of the week” adds another layer to it.
Thank you, James, for this masterpiece!
ONE OF THE BEST SONGS OF ALL TIME! THIS BRINGS BACK MEMORIES OF MY FATHER ... HE WOULD PLAY THIS SONG IN THE LIVING ROOM ON SATURDAYS. RIP DADDY!
Great music from James Taylor always. I love his music 🎶
I danced with my 2 year old son to this song in the early 90s. We will always remember and love this song.
Happy 76 candles JT! ♥️🎂
So glad I got see him do this in concert a few years ago.
Bellissima performance per una voce molto bella!😊🤗😍😘🎶🎸🎶💘💓💋💯🌅
A modern American balladeer that gives hope to the great American experiment and to the rest of the world.
what an amazing song.. i'm a metalhead but i really love this song
Never worry about where a piece of music comes from; if it moves you, then that's all the reason you need to like it, and for it to exist :-)
James Taylor is pure gold with his music. Can literally listen to his albums without skipping one song.
I love this song, but man... the first 20 seconds takes me back to my teenage years in the early 90s. What a beautiful memory, thanks James. Oh yeah, and I love this version of the song! :)
I think we all long for a simpler time
No one's music makes me cry like James Taylor. His music is has so much feeling in them. I like music today, but so little, if anything, new seems to have any feeling or emotion. It's like the souls of the songs released today just don't have the same depth
this makes me cry to :) or :( ? love this song and his voice
OMG I could not agree more. Feel exactly the same.,
what a lovely,t song. Hercules and hog nose snake.may JT live forever!
For some reason James music touches ones heart in a unique way❤️🙏🏻
His greatest song, And he had many great songs. God bless him!
One of my favorites.
I absolutely love this man, his music is simple & Calming❤️❤️❤️
James Taylor you ease my mind every time a put your music on
Thanks 🙏 ✌️
Thank you for the smooth mellow relaxing tone of your voice! We are truly blessed to have you in the world especially during this tumultuous time💕
James Taylor on 8 Tract. Oh yeah ! No more perfect! Thank you James. Still fully relevant today. Singer Songwriter 💙
Beautiful
This song more than any reminds me of my dad who passed away. It doesn't matter what's going on, when this comes on i'm in a different place. It ends with tears but nothing but love for this. It helps connect me to him.
James will do that to you Mark. Mine is "Walking "Man. I swear he looked into my life and wrote that song
rien que d écouter j ai des frissons qui parcoure tous mon être que c beau 😮😮😮❤❤❤
You've just got to love this guy's music.
I'll never tire of listening to his songs/music.
My favorite JT song, beyond a doubt.
When I was a little kid(late 80's early 90's) for whatever reason...assuming I heard this song on the radio...I sung the words "down on copperline" incessantly. It was some of the first words I ever spoke. This song has been on all my Playlists throughout my 37 years on this earth.
These are beautiful lyrics James..one of my favorite songs. Reminiscing about
the way things were before. You can revisit the same place many years later but
things keep always changing..you can go back there but you really can't go back in time...."i tried to go back as if I could..all spec'ed house and plywood..".take me
down on Copperline.."
Brings me to tears in all the right ways. Thanks James
There is a good reason the lyrics seem more like poetry than other JT songs. Copperline was co-written with NC Poet Reynolds Price who also grew up in the same area near Chapel Hill, NC 'bout "1/2 a mile down from Morgan Creek" known the them as Copperline. BTW Reynolds Price is gay and the "first kiss ever I took..." line is his. JT did have a dog named Hercules as a child.
Makes sense. The meter and rhythm of the rhyming 4 line stanza in this song with the chord picking gives it a unique style of musical cadence.
"Even the old folks never knew
Why they call it like they do
I was wondering since the age of two
Down on Copperline"
Pretty fair novelist too, my friend.
Right near Merritt’s
This man soothes my soul.
This song reminds me of my younger brother Mike and 15 year old me walking along a red clay Carolina country road with some cousins we had just met for the first time. They had a swimming spot along some back woods creek and we all went down there and swam for a spell. On the way back home and headed down a decline in that road, the Red Flyer wagon with our 5 year old cousin in it, got away from Mike. I took off on a dead run to catch the wagon but wasn’t able to reach it before the wagon’s tongue dug into the soft clay border of the road. The wagon came to an immediate halt except for the young cousin being launched over the front of the wagon. I was close enough to catch her mid-launch and sat her down so she could cry out her fear. Once she was down to just sniffles, I took her face in my hands, asked if she was OK, then held her to my chest and I told her that I loved her and would protect her as long as I was there, visiting her family. That was 1969. In 1998, 29 years later, she still remembered that event. It’s interesting how a song can ignite memories that we hadn’t thought of in decades!
Saw him sing this song last night in Sioux Falls. Sounds just as good!!
I can only speak for myself, but this beautiful version of Copperline is pipped into second place by the breathtaking rendition of Fire and Rain on the same DVD. Every single player seems to be singing/playing as though they are one on the whole of Squibnocket, but the planets, stars, galaxies aligned on the performance of F&R, I for one, am just glad that I got to hear it.
Your words are so true.
Is this heaven ✌
Holidays in the front room with my mom and dad. Just pure love.
28x in concert, 40 years...can anyone else beat that? Be HONEST!🤔
🥀Beautiful Song amazing lyrics, vocals and music it's Amazing🥀✌🥀
You have to try REALLY hard to not like James Taylor. And even then, you probably still like him...
Tracy Sanders my ex wife doesn’t like JT but I think that’s because I love his music!😂
Damn, that man has a clear soft voice! Almost every song is very very beautiful. The rest is just... beautiful... 😆
James Taylor, siempre tan sensible, tan grande, tanta aportación a este mundo. Gracias James.
Takes me back when I was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany in the early '90's. This man can make any song sound like a lullaby :)
Last of the singer song writers !
What an awesome performance
Am 58 now....Neil is our hero when music was so funk up during the 80s....Neil " Comes a Time " with " Four Strong Winds" and gave us " Peace of Mind " and brought us to the " Human Highway" with " Pocahontas " and we " Sail Away " and ride with " Motorcycle Mama"....luv ya, Neil.....our hero and our " Star of Bethlehem"......
Man I LOVE this song. Wow. So great.
IMHO this version is better than the original. Love it!
I'm 2 years old and I like James Taylor
