Good for you! I once had a background among fundamentalist baptists also, and I can definitely say that they have very little to offer. In fact, fundamentalists do greatly err in many doctrines, which I can readily prove.
It should be said that doctrinally speaking, fundamentalists usually hold to some of the great fundamentals of the faith and hence assume the name "fundamentalists". But in this they fall short of "conservative" Christians (i.e. true Lutherans).
Conservative Christians, or genuine Lutherans, are so named because they hold to and insist upon the Word of God in ALL its doctrines in their truth and purity. They also hold to the right use of Baptism and the Lord's supper, according to to the words of institution of the Lord.
And this means that "Christ Crucified for sinners" is always the predominant preaching of a true Lutheran. But it also means ........ That Scripture Alone ... and not human reason, is at the centre of true Bible teaching (1 Peter 4:11). And this is good news. Instead of the Babel of baptist and reformed and mystical Catholic and orthodox traditions, we find the Word of God and Christ at the centre.
So beware of liberal "Lutheran" churches, as these are not true to Christ and ought not to use the name Lutheran. Beware of fundamentalists who turn baptism into a work that we must do for God and distort much of the Bible. Beware of catholic mysticism, whether anglo catholic, or roman catholic, or greek or russian catholic. Christ is not a mystic, and all the promises of God are yea and amen in him.
In summary, all Christendom may be summarised as follows:
      - Upon the left hand are the various mystic forms of "Christianity", namely anglo, roman and greek catholic churches. these religions ultimately teach salvation by works.
      - Upon the right hand are the reformed rationaists, namely baptists, presbyterians, pentecostals, methodists, congregationalists and the like. And it ought to be noted that reformed rationalists eventually give way to even to one of two extremes:
either unitarian type sects; or socialist, social gospel type churches that abandon true faith altogether. These reformed rationalists also lose the gospel and turn to salvation by works.
      - In the centre lays the true Christian faith, that puts aside human reason and holds to the Word in its truth and purity. Christ, and Christ alone is heralded as the only God and saviour for poor lost sinners. It is for this reason that the Reformation was launched upon the principles: Scripture Alone, Grace Alone, Faith Alone. And we may justly add: Christ Alone.

@Fascisté français canadien ... Hi French Canadian.
Thanks for your comment. My Original comment was necessarily a an overview and a generalization in part.
There are in fact Christians among the Orthodox and very likely In Catholic churches, despite official doctrines, for the simple reason that the Gospel always is the power of God unto Salvation (Romans 1:16, 17). Moreover, Catholic churches still baptize children in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And it is Christ that saves us in Baptism (Ephesians 5:25, 26; Ezekiel 36:25-27, 1 Peter 3:21), where God places his name upon us and comes to us and blesses us (Exodus 20:24; Numbers 6:22-27, Matthew 28:19). And Wherever the gospel is still present, and proclaimed and taught, in any church, it will produce new converts (1 Corinthians 1:18).
But we are also aware, that the official doctrines of Roman Catholicism censure and condemn all who hold to the simple Gospel alone in order to be justified freely by the grace of God through faith. We know this, for at the council of Trent (1545-1563), the Roman Catholic Church issued anathemas contrary to the Scriptural and ancient church father teaching of "Salvation by Grace Alone through Faith Alone". It is for this reason, along with others, that the Papacy was exposed and revealed and manifested at that time as the great Antichrist foretold in Scripture. And I can show that the famous church father Saint Ambrose taught salvation by grace through faith alone in full agreement with the words of the Apostle Paul.
(Remember also how that Ambrose was a mighty Trinitarian father, in a time of widespread Arianism, was very instrumental in the conversion of Saint Augustine). At Trent, the Roman Catholic Church began, being not a universal council of Christian churches, and certainly excluding the eastern Orthodox churches. And so the Lutheran Church which emerged as a continuation of the true Catholic Church due to necessity of reformation of doctrine, predates the Roman Catholic Church which began at Trent, by around 20 years. So we are not saying that there are no Christians in the Roman Catholic denomination, but we are saying that it is an environment where faith in Christ is quenched and suppressed. And it is for this reason that the Lord addresses his true people still within her saying:
"Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues."
      (Revelation 18:4, 2 Corinthians 6:17)
But why do you say that I am lost ?? You need to give sound reasons. I am willing to hear you.
And if I am lost, what is your answer to me being lost? If you have genuine Christian concern then you must share the answers with people and not merely castigate them. You need to be willing to engage in some sort of genuine discussion. Have you ever read the New Testament and observed how Jesus preached, or how the Apostles or Stephen proclaimed Law and Gospel? Dis yo consider how Paul dealt with peoples in various cities, like for example the people upon Mars Hill, Athens?
I am ready to hear what you have to say and speak respectfully with you, but you need to defend what you say. It is not enough just to make claims. Likewise, I am willing to defend what I wrote, with evidence and with facts.
Or we can simply discuss salvation, seeing that you say "I am Lost".
I take the lostness of souls very seriously, as does The Lord Jesus Christ, and hope that all sinners may obtain salvation.
Wait for your timely and intelligent reply ...

This is an incredible faith! Hi I'm Catholic and I really want to become a Lutheran. Videos like these have helped me out a lot in that decision! Everything you believe is what I THOUGHT Catholics believed (after 14 years of Catholic school), but it turns out we do not. Everything I disagree with in Catholicism is removed from Lutheranism, but it's such an understatement to say that Lutheranism is just 'free of Catholicism; you add so many other elements of your own into the faith!
If you don't have a video like this already, could you please make one on what makes Lutheranism different from Catholicism and why Catholics should join Lutheranism?
I'm not alone, I know of other disheartened Catholics that left and joined Protestantism and they'd really benefit from such a video! Thanks!

awakeningspirit20 -. It is good you are soul searching for Truth.
Please also look into Baptism. To what is understood in the Bible, one must hear the Word of God, Confess that Christ is the Son of God, and repent of their sins. Meaning you truly are remorseful for the sins in your past and choosing not to joyfully do them again. Then we are Baptized by being immersed in water.
Yes, we still sin, but we feel bad, guilty, and wrong. So we go to God in prayer and ask for forgiveness again and again and again. Thankfully Baptism is only once!!! 😊✝️. May our God be with you in your relationship with Jesus and may the Holy Spirit help you understand the scriptures!

I am currently unaffiliated anywhere but grew up in various denominations including some for my schooling. Catholic, Pentecostal, Baptist...I happened to type in Lutheranism into RUclips because of a Facebook quiz that stated because of my belief answers, I most likely am Lutheran. hahaha But, the reason I was unaffiliated is because of the beating up that can happen to us as believers when we make mistakes. it is almost like your accepted until you fall. This video was so encouraging to me. I have never heard anything that straight forward about forgiveness. It is said of course, but with ever present works and perfection in actions as the focus. I still believe faith without works is dead though. Thank you for the faith explanation about our sins...

My Dad was raised Baptist and switched to Lutheran 50 years ago during the turbulent 60's. He always told me that what he liked about Lutherans was how they kept human interference and philosophy completely out and really solely on Scripture to back everything. My German Catholic mom never understood the American anti-alcohol and giving grape juice at the Lord's Supper. What I really like is how no heavy burdens are placed on Lutherans-just accept that grace and forgiveness is a free gift liberally given and won for you on the cross; believing this will produce 'fruits of the spirit' and trying to justify through 'good' actions is really just human vanity. I think truly good works are the ones you aren't aware of.

      Hi Mary.
I spent time with the Baptists. And I remained a Baptist for 17 years of my adult life. But I was also a keen theological student. And I set about to prove and defend the Baptist doctrine point by point. And to make sure that the defence of the teaching and the proof texts were iron clad. I was as zealous as anyone could have been for Baptist teaching.
To that end, I Made extensive use of the original Greek New Testament and a wide variety of resources also.
However, as I diligently searched the Greek Text and the more I researched Lexicons, and Greek grammars, I found that one by one the Baptist arguments and proof texts fell away. I discovered that I could not defend a single Baptist argument from.tue Proof texts that I thought had taught the Baptist ideas .
This realisation was gradual, but it opened a vacuum which the Word of God, consistently taught, along with a grammatical approach to study, soon filled.
I discovered that the Orthodox Lutheran teaching on Baptism is not only soundly Scriptural, it is also the historic faith that was universally taught all through the early church.
I discovered that there are true gems in the Biblical concept of Baptism which are utterly missing in all Baptist teaching.
One of the Stumbling blocks that we had as Baptists was the incorrect notion that Baptism is a work, or an act of obedience that we do.
But the Scriptures teach that Baptism is something that Christ does for us.
We also were taught that it is merely a symbol. Yet Baptists like the Famous Greek Scholar Dr Kenneth Wuest, correctly demonstrated that in Romans 6, Baptism is joining us to Christ literally. And this is precisely what the Greek grammar demands . Wuest was so sure of this, but so stubbornly Baptist, that he denied that the word " Baptism" really refers to Baptism in Romans 6. So whilst his grammatical explanation is correct, his Theology was distorted by his loyalty to his denomination.
Another famous Baptist, (Baptist in practise) was the famous Chinese teacher, Watchman Nee. When explaining Romans 6, Nee pointed out that in Baptism we are absolutely and utterly and really and truly joined to Christ, by God's working. And he correctly quotes 1 Corinthians 1:30 to show how this is effected in Baptism .
And these Baptist teachers are not alone. Even the highly sectarian Calvinistic Baptist preacher John . MacArthur Teaches from Romans 6 that real union with Christ is effected in the " Baptism" discussed in that chapter. Albeit, MacArthur, without a shred of evidence claims that "Baptism" is used metaphorically in Romans 6. And he follows Wuest in his denial of the connection to actual Baptisms.
But MacArthur's arguments are absurd. Not merely because they are utterly ungrammatical, but also because they ignore the verb used. Paul doesn't merely use the noun "Baptism" but he also uses the verb "Baptized" together with the thing indicated by the verb, namely "Baptism". He is describing a real event and naming it
      Moreover, the Greek word βαπτισμα
(Baptisma = Baptism) does not exist in secular Greek prior to Christ. It first appears in the Baptism of John and of Jesus. Certainly the verb βαπτιζω existed , but it's corresponding noun was βαπτίσμος (Baptismos) .
The word βαπτισμα / Baptism was introduced by the Evangelists and Apostles to specify Christian BAPTISM, as instituted by God.
MacArthur and Wuest, whilst recognising the reality of what takes place in Baptism, namely union with Christ, deliberately attempt to obscure the Divinely inspired meaning of the word 8n order to defend their indefensible Baptist ideas. The Baptism described by Paul is no imaginary metaphor.

Thank you so much... Well, it's 2023 and you did this video 7 years ago, I really hope you would still say the same. I have a University degree in Lutheran Theology and have received full training to be a pastor but my conscience would not allow me to do that job within the "lutheran church" of my country for a whole range of reasons. One very important reason was and is that they no longer believe the things that you state in the video. While one half no longer believes in salvation and therefore takes no comfort in it (so it is not possible to talk openly about the conditio humana including sin and death because they find it "depressing and causing feelings of guilt and shame" since there is no resurrection, no atonement, no forgiveness), the other half does not even believe we need to be saved at all as we are all fine just the way we happen to be. All we need to do is to be law-abiding citizens and respected (wealthy and educated) members of our local or national community. So thank you for reminding me of the gospel! Good News! 🙂

I'll address the issue of idols, icons, and Christian imagery. We are not Muslims; we worship a triune God. The second person of that trinity spent 30+ years on earth giving everyone a very good representation of God (John 14:9). He *may* have in fact left us a 100% accurate image of himself at his resurrection in the Veil of Manopello (John 20:7). So to use the commandment against idolatry as a blunt force instrument to ban all Christian imagery is to fall into the error of the iconoclasts.

    • @ProJatior
      @ProJatior 5 лет назад +1

I’m fine with images existing of Jesus/Yeshua. Bowing down to the iconography is where I draw a line. I’d rather light candles like a Jew. I’m fine with Watching Passion of the Christ and other films to do with Jesus and seeing the West’s and any others ethic interpretation.
As for Mary and the Saints. I highly respect them but even in the saints life time they told gentiles not to bow to them this power comes from the Messiah. The saints used any body of water to baptize even the seemingly random stranger trying to figure out a passage in Isaiah.
Also don’t pretend Jesus wasn’t Hellenized. Even his name was changed over the years from Yeshua to Jesus. The cloth could be Him but the thing is it’s not confirmed we don’t know.
I guesstimate the Iconography was used originally to get the illiterate members of the Church to help them understand people’s and concepts
We’re likely not going to agree on all this but God bless you.

your sins are forgiven is something the holy spirit reveals to the elect. it is not for the pastor to go and tell everybody their sins are forgiven, Luther would be turning in his grave if he heard this type of preaching. There certainly is forgiveness of sins in Christ, and when a sinner turns away from self righteousness and gives up on every effort to justify himself, and instead turns to Christ's righteousness freely offered in the gospel he / she receives forgiveness of sins. But to tell somebody your sins have been forgiven is not the gospel, instead people need to be told to turn to Christ and embrace his righteousness because righteousness and justification (he is just and the justifier of him who has faith) is found in Christ. Totally different gospel message. Nowhere in the book of Acts we see the Apostles announcing "your sins are forgiven". Instead the message is to repent, to believe, to be baptized (we are baptized for the remission of sins and not because our sins were forgiven, if my sins were forgiven I wouldn't need to repent, I would not need to believe, I would not need to be baptized). I was told for many years my sins were forgiven, but no conscience can believe this, and this message far from converting exasperated me. I don't know what is worse, giving somebody the law or telling them their sins are forgiven. It was only when the holy spirit revealed to me that my righteousness was in Jesus Christ, and not in my own works, then I instantly I knew I was forgiven because God accepted Christ's righteousness and obedience as if it were mine. Big difference, to cheaply proclaim your sins are forgiven will convert nobody, it never converted me for sure and actually came across as cheap grace or easy believism. Because it is the preaching of a lie to tell somebody that his sins are forgiven when the person stating this has no clue if somebody is a believer or not, instead we need to tell people to come to Christ where there is righteousness and to give up on their own righteousness. True peace with God can only come when we know that we are under grace and not under the law, when we know that the righteous requirements of the Law have been fulfilled by Christ as our substitute, since we could never obey the law perfectly. But just saying your sins are forgiven is not accurate, unless we also say that God is just and has forgiven us solely based on Christ's perfect obedience credited to us and his death on the cross when all my sins were laid on Him.

I was raised in the Lutheran church and at the age of 30 God gave me a great desire to read His Word for myself. After around 5 years of study God revealed many things that the Lutherans simply have wrong. What they have right is justification by faith alone. What they have wrong is how a person becomes justified or shall we say saved. The problem is they simply kept a few things from the Catholics and that all begins with infant baptism be a means of salvation. This creates major problems in that one tends to believe they are ok and a Christian because they were baptized. Anyway this all gets too deep. Read the New Testament for yourself and you will see many things that have to do with justification, being born again is how Jesus put it, that Lutherans gloss over and explain away improperly. It all begins with God created everything to display his perfection and glory. Don’t follow any brand. Go to the source and discover the complete gospel of Jesus

Are you a good person? Most who call themselves Christian also consider themselves to be a good person. They even claim to follow "the red letters" of Jesus Christ, yet they totally ignore what he said about those who think of themselves as being good. In Matthew 19-16, a man came and said to Jesus "good master..." and in the very next verse, Jesus asked him why he called him good. Then he told the man, there's none good, but one, that is, God. Jesus said "be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect." Now having knowledge of this should make any person in the dispensation of grace very grateful for grace. There is not one good one, no, not even one.

    16. And on Sunday mornings, you, Catholics, Protestants, evangelicalsand Branhamists, you spend your time listening to what is not the Word of God and that’s what takes you away from God. The Jewish priests and rabbis spent their time preaching falsitiesin the synagogues. They were saying, "The Roman soldiers that you see, you will no longer see them. What Moses showed the soldiers of Pharaoh cannot be compared to what the Messiah will show the Roman soldiers… ". They were saying, "The Messiah will do this, the Messiah will do that", and Jews were believing that whereas those are not prophet messengers.

CHECK OUT these AWESOME benefits & gifts of God: holy Baptism is always "water with Word" (Eph. 5:26), "puts on Christ, baptized into Christ (Gal. 3:27, Romans 6:3), "washing of regeneration" (Titus 3:5-8), sealing/gives with Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38-39, Holy Gospel John 3:5, Titus 3:5-8), "spiritual circumcision" (Col 2:11) "faith" (Eph 2:8-10), membership in Church - "Christ's body" (1 Cor 12:13), belonging to God's Kingdom (Holy Gospel John 3:5-6), "burial into Christ's death and made alive to a new life in Christ" (Rom 6:4, Col 2:11-12), receiving the name of the triune God (Holy Gospel Matthew 28:19), "salvation/saves" (1 Peter 3:21, Gospel of Mark 16:16), "forgiveness of sins" (Acts 2:38-39). I hope this helps.Baptism benefits

Ma'am, just as your justification comes from outside of yourself in the death of Christ Jesus on the cross, so does your sanctification come from outside of you-- it is the work of the Holy Spirit. As David prayed, "Create in me a clean heart, Oh God, and renew a right spirit within me." Luther said that every Christian is only one day old-- that we have to drown the our Old Adam every day, and when we sin, we are to turn again from sin and ask for and receive His forgiveness, and no matter how hard you try or don't try, all the credit is His. You were born in trespasses and sins; in other words, you were born DEAD. It is He who makes you ALIVE, He washes you clean, He clothes you with His robe of righteousness, and He puts His ring on your finger, honoring you as His adopted son or daughter. Who loves God with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength, and their neighbor as themselves, every moment of everyday, or even comes close? The power to sustain the fight comes from receptivity: hearing the Pastor speak Jesus' words of forgiveness, and by eating and drinking the body and blood of Jesus Christ, again for the forgiveness of our sins. He promised it, and if you believe it, it IS yours-- now that's comforting! Any progress you make will be complements of God the Holy Spirit, and not you.

"Love God and love your neighbor as yourself" is not the Gospel. It's the Law. The Gospel is "In spite of the fact that you have not perfectly loved God and your neighbor as yourself, you are forgiven." Jesus perfectly loved God and neighbor, and when we are united with Jesus through faith, he takes our sin, our failure to love, as if it were his own sin, and he gives us his perfect righteous as if it were our own righteousness. This is the Gospel.

So your claiming that Lutherans have faith and know that their sins are forgiven, but not other denominations? This would mean that Lutherans are the only ones with real faith and that no one else is saved, as faith in the finished work of Christ is our gate to grace. If someone doesn’t have the comfort of knowing that their sins are forgiven then they have not faith and without faith they are still dead in their sin.

Good video! My personal religious beliefs lean more towards Calvinism, with elements of Lutheranism.
I like how Lutherans celebrate Holy Communion, with the Eucharist wafers, and how they view Christ being physically present in the bread and wine, but not being literally transformed, as the Catholics believe. The excessive liturgy can come across as rather impersonal sometimes to me.
While I do not respect Martin Luther's controversial and sacreligious statements that he made in his life, or his later blatant anti-Semitism, I have much respect for him for standing up to the Catholic Church and calling them out on their lies and misuse of religious power as a fundraiser to rebuild and rennovate St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
I think ALL Protestants, not just Lutherans, should know why we split off from the Catholic Church, and I think ALL Protestant should know about the Five Solas of the Protestant Reformation. Those Five Solas place sovereignty back in its rightful place- in God's hands, and what He has revealed to us through the Bible, NOT the traditions of men, NOT ecumenical councils to determine what everyone believes, and NOT through the pope.
I'm cool with most Biblical Protestant denominations- Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Non denominationals. I consider Seventh-day Adventists deviant from the Bible, and Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses to be straight up cults.
I would say I'm somewhere between Lutheran and Baptist. I like Baptist sermons, but I like Lutheran Holy Communion. I'm a Butheran.

Lutherans recognize that while Martin Luther was a brilliant theologian, he was, like the rest of us, a flawed and sinful human. He recognized this himself, and it was never his wish to have a religious denomination named after him. His preference was evangelical, or evangelical catholic, but his detractors derisively referred to his followers as Lutherans, and the name stuck. Many Lutheran denominations have publicly repudiated and apologized for his anti-Jewish writings.

The soul has no gender.....for me this demonstrates that none of us are perfect before God - we are all loved equally, forgiven equally and will all go to heaven together. Straight, gay, young old, black, white, gender - he loves us all. God does not pick and choose from the vast numbers of believers - we are all saved. Children, poor, lepers, widows, prostitutes - he loves all equally in the bible. God is love and luckily he loves me and will never stop loving me, forgiving me, I am straight white female - but no better or worse than everyone in the world. Love is love and God is love.

As a Calvinist, this is the reason I can't be a Lutheran. If justification is by faith alone in Christ, how can one who has faith in Christ lose his or her salvation?

1 Corinthians 15:1, 2 most definitely teaches we are saved through the Gospel .... IF .... we hold fast what was preached. Note: The KJV is usually the best translation, but here it handles the Greek text poorly. KJV says "If ye keep in memory", but the picture word means "to hold fast".
Remember there are many warnings in scripture to continue by faith and not to live in complacent unrepentance:
"... You stand by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not you. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off."
      Romans 11:20-22.
The book of Hebrews, for example, has wonderful exhortations and also terrifying warnings. For example, Hebrews chapters 2, 3 4, 6 and 10 contain warnings. And yet Hebrews abounds with assurances also, like Hebrews 7:25, Hebrews 10 and 11.

about the woman of Samaria. He knows to present Christ alone as our only Saviour for sinners. and he handles the right division of Law and Gospel admirably in this particular sermon.
But the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ which is received in holy communion is a visible guarantee of the redemption purchased for us upon the cross. We place our faith in Christ alone, and even this faith is not of ourselves, it is worked in our hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit working through the Gospel.

"When the wicked man turns away from the wickedness that he has committed, and does what is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive"[Ezek.18:27]. The only thing necessary for the forgiveness of sins is true repentance from the heart, not Jesus' death on the cross. And I'm not a Jew or a Muslim.

Lutherans and Catholics are both Christians, as are Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists, etc. All of these denominations differ from each other in terms of how they interpret the Bible to arrive at specific doctrinal beliefs. For example, some believe that only adults can be baptized, while others believe that infants should be baptized. Some believe that Christ is physically present in the bread and wine of communion, some believe that he is only spiritually present, and some believe that he is only symbolically present.

Not to argue the issue, but when Jesus told the people" unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood, you have no life in you." And during the Last Supper, He told the Apostles when He had given thanks and broke the bread, " take this and eat all of you, this is My body given for you." And when He had blessed the cup, He told them to take this and drink, for it is My blood, she'd for you for the remission of sins. Do this in rememberence of Me." He never said that they were merely symbols. Why not? If He meant what He said, shouldn't we as His church follow the commands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ? I don't understand why all the denominations except the Catholic and the Orthodox, fail to follow His instructions!

    11. When a prophet messenger is sent on earth, it’s because there is no more truth on earth and his Message is the only truth of his time. He is the depositary of the truth. He is the legislator of the Word of God in his time. You see? When Noah was preaching, no one could be saved unless by the Message of Noah. When Jeremiah was preaching, no one could be saved unless by the Message of Jeremiah. When Elijah was preaching, no one could be saved unless by the Message of Elijah. When the Lord Jesus was preaching there in the streets of Jerusalem, no one could be saved unless by the Message of the Lord Jesus. He said: "No one comes to the Father unless by me". You see? When Martin Luther was preaching there in Germany, no one could be saved unless by the Message of Martin Luther. When John Wesley was preaching, no one could be saved on the whole face of the earth unless by the Message of John Wesley. When William Branham was preaching there in America, no one could be saved on the whole face of the earth unless by the Message of William Branham. And today, you cannot be saved but by the Message of Prophet Kacou Philippe. If you were a child of God in their time, you would believe in them and it is the same today. Did he say Baptism saves? If I hear that correctly, what he is saying is false. Baptism is a showing of our faith, it is not what saves us. It is a declaration of our faith, salvation isn’t declared upon baptism, salvation was given in grace, by faith, and the action of being baptized is the action of a faithful Christian that was/is saved by grace.
Maybe I didn’t hear him correctly. If I heard that incorrectly, I apologize. If I did hear that correctly, and he did say that, then what he says is heresy and blasphemous, and it makes baptism their god.

Something that had always bothered me about most Christian denominations was the way that they all proclaimed that baptism was an absolute requirement. I always took issue with this because it is repeated in the Bible that ONLY through true faith can someone be saved. It makes no sense to say that you need to be baptized as a requirement to get into Heaven when it's stated that the key is Faith. Not to say that baptism is useless, it's not. It's just that I wouldn't worry of you had an unbaptized relative who died, God would not turn his back on you simply for not being dunked in some water.
