When doing layers best way to fill in the layers is to color lightly in opposite directions between layers it will give you more coverage in less layers, especially if using cheaper pencils when wax bloom will build up fast. Also using a solvent like mineral spirits will help blend smoother but also help break down the wax.

I can't tell you how instructional it is for me to see applications being used in real time. I understand the necessity for speeding up projects due to time. But I really like to see the techniques used to achieve the different results.
    Very helpful, thank you.

I'm just starting to color again and I'm so glad I came across your channel. You're instructions were clear and you have the most calm voice. I may even listen to this when I'm struggling to sleep at night. Weird, I know. Lol! You should venture into making bedtime stories for insomniacs. 🤔

I like using cotton swabs to blend colour pencils too! I also recommend solvent (a nail polish remover works fine too!) for blending. I love how it makes everything look more saturated and smooth :)

Thank you for this tutorial. I’ve used colored pencils for a long time and too often I find myself applying too much pressure. I think I will try taking a little break more often and have a cup of tea or something then return to the drawing.

Hi I am a new subbie I am learning to colour so I can illustrate my own calligraphy. I have got a couple of cheapish pencils sets, and water color pencils too, I have the Faber Farrell 120 sets of both watercolour and pencil, but only ever used them for illumination. So I am soaking it all up and loving learning a new skill.

Hello! Quick questions, please. I have a complete mish mash of colored pencils. Does it matter if I mix brands or types of pencils when layering---say a circle? Can I use.my water color pencils for a layer with the regular colored pencils? Lastly, do we continue layering if it isn't smooth after the 3rd layer? Thank you so much! I'm a beginner, obviously! Is the color blending chart you used available to us somewhere? I'm so excited to color tomorrow! I've been watching your videos, one after another tonight. It is 3am! Thank you, again! 💜

I know you say use a light touch when layering and I have followed so far and I'm 9 minutes in now and my paper is starting to look quite shiny and not absorbing color as well as yours. I have been pressing super hard with the cotton swab though and when it gets fluffy and mooshy, I obviously use a new one. You did not say what pressure to use. But for me, I'm thinking to get this picture blended. Am I doing it how you say or no? Btw thank you for the tutorial man. In the comments, people are happy with using "solvents" like nail polish remover. My page totally started to buckle majorly once it dried. Not such a good idea either.

Look up T’GAAL ones on amazon or other angle adjusting sharpeners, otherwise unless using a razor the little all metal handheld cheap ones usually the most reliable.
