I go back to 1968 when I was with VS30 as an ATR3. The Grumman S2D and E. There was also VF 101 with F4Bs and Js, Most of my squadron mates are dead now, I being 76. I lived off base in a trailer with 3 cocktail waitresses from the Green Parrot. I had a Yamaha 350 and a 1962 grand prix that I bought from a mech in our squadron. We did carrier quals off the Lexington in Pensacola and Jax. Then I rotated to VS31 in Quonset Point RI. Funs over!!!!!!!!!! 2 years shore duty and 1.5 years sea duty.
Been there, seen that. Would not wanna be stationed there. Too hot too much of the time out of 12 months! 😡👎 The water IS beautiful for snorkeling & scuba diving, though. 😎👍

We used to take our f-18"s from NAS Cecil Field to Key West to train , What a ball we all had and what a beautiful place !
