Love bob with a passion. If ever a man put his life on the line to spread the word of humanity it was bob. True true true lesgend
I'm excited to learn more about him 😊
Facts.
This song is a speech at the United Nations by Hail Selassie the then Ruler of Ethiopia. Love this song.
What was t like for Bob Marley to play London in the early 70's?? .. Well, I grew up in England thru the 60's & 70's and I gotta tell you, Reggae, Ska, Motown Soul etc was the absolute soundtrack to that era.. Yes, Bob was mobbed everywhere he played, but mobbed with love.!!
we need Bob now ,more than ever!
"Three Little Brids" is my road rage song. I have an hour drive in city traffic each way to work, so that song is a regular on my playlist... It's physically impossible to be angry when you're singing that song.
hahahhahha great tactic my friend
Bob came to us right on time. The 60’s and 70’s were unbelievable times to be young. I was lucky enough to see Bob in concert in 1978. A spiritual experience.
The song War was an actual speech delivered by Emperor Haile Selassia of Ethiopia at the UN. He was speaking for an end to all forms of foreign and authoritarian regimes occupying various African countries. It was a powerful speech.
Mr Marley just had to sing it verbatim in order not to lose its essence.
Perfect pick to start off a Marley rabbit hole❤
thank you!!
@7:42................Legend pose. That pose would've made for an awesome statue of Marley.
agreeed
London loved Bob! I was there as an American, changed my life.
you were there for this!?
Legacy will live forever
great reaction , this is a classic, marley is legend! all his kids are musicians as well, both ziggy and damien make some great music too, the remix of this with biggie is goood too, my favorite bob tune is concrete jungle
indeed he is man. I didn't know they had a remix!!! 😊
As a younger guy growing up, me and friends listened to Bob daily in the UK as we were all into smoking certain stuff. I used to have every Bob album on vinyl back then. I still have a copy of his Biography that was given to me by an ex-girlfriend 30 years ago. It should be noted also Bob was mixed race, his Dad was a white British Navy officer
Stir it up is another one of his top 10 Must listen to of the basics
roger that 😊😊
Bob was the GOAT! He was a philopher, peacemaker and prophet too. Try Could you be Loved, Redemption Song, No Woman no Cry, and One Love
I’ve been listening to Bob Marley since I’ve been born, over 20 years of experience with him. My favorite songs are rebel music, concrete jungle, and the heathen. Please give me songs and try some time.
Also would love for you to hear his son's Damian ,Stephen ,Julian, and even his grandson's skip😂❤
all of them added to the list 😊😊😊
Ambush in the Night. Please react to that. It's one of Bob's songs I like the most.
All of his songs are something for the new Bible! His music is a testament of life.
indeed my friend
He's speaking specifically about Africa here. But truth is truth everywhere. The lyrics here are almost word for word from a speech to the Unlited Nations by the Emporerer if Ethiopa Haile Selassie . Short version here.
I meant my version is simple. The turmoil in Africa was pretty much ignored in North America.
really? do you know when that speech was given? I'd love to check it out. Also those problems are largely still ignored unfortunately
@notrashtoleratedreactions The speech was given in 1963. There is a translation online. Bob was living in London in semi exile after an assassination attempt in Jamaica. I saw him there several times. A biopic of his life is set to open in February, the 14th, I think. Two trailers are available on RUclips. The eldest Marley son, Ziggy, is listed as producer and was apparently on set with the actor every day. I hope it's good.
I think it was Jah Bunny who adapted and put this to music rather than Bob, might be wrong though. The Rainbow Theatre is now a Brazilian church, but can't match Bob's spirituality.
The Wailers were certainly loose with their performances. This concert being one of the best as far as video and sound quality. They never played a song the same way twice. I do drum videos of old reggae and every performance was different. The melody in reggae is usually the bass line, everything else can be improvised, thats why no song was ever played the same way.
So as much as I would like for you to dive in to the real deep stuff right away ,maybe we should start with some basics like no woman no cry❤😊
Gotta do Crazy Baldheads from this concert , Also check out some of his older stuff ;) Like Soul Rebel , Caution , Do it twice.
Hi nice reaction... also react to Peter Tosh, the bush doctor....
No woman no cry at the same show.please react to that song
Will do. Thanks!!!
You should react to Bob Marley's live performance of his song "heathen" the same concert you're watching now at the rainbow theater
Bob Marley lived in London 1976 to 1979
no kidding. That's awesome 😊
Bruh, do ''''One Drop'''''''' off the SURVIVAL album
pls do Crisis by bob marley
Angola and Mozambique were still controlled by the colonizing Portuguese when this song was written. Thankfully, the Portuguese were kicked out. It was different in South Africa as we know, as white South Africans never left, even if they are no longer the ruling political class.
Very interesting. I appreciate the context on that. I had no idea. 🙏🙏🙏
War is emperor Haile Selassie's speech to the League of Nations translated into English and made into music. Ethiopia had just come out of war against Italy to remain the only uncolonized nation in Africa. Fairness is the emperor's call.
react to Coming In From The Cold, also Bob
sick I'll add that to the list
You're listening, but with all those pauses, you're not *feeling* Sit still, relax for a bit, and be present. You'll then feel the difference
This whole show is so sick!! I have the show on dvd somewhere, I can't seem to find it atm, which is phenomenally disappointing. It's so frickin' sad how he died of 1 of the most common & curable of cancers, a melanoma that began under his toenail, & it's so sad that no 1 cured the man, it's absolutely bonkers. I did see the Wailers & a cpl of his sons perform @ various times, however Bob was the shit, he was far more successful than I believe he could've ever imagined.
He refused treatment as part of his Rastarian belief...
@@kaekekereekun1289 I thought I heard that, but I wasn't aware that toe removal was anti-rasta.
I'm truly not trying to be annoying in your comments section but I forgot and I want to come back and suggest concrete jungle❤
you're not being annoying whatsoever 😊😊 added to the list 🙏🙏🙏
The live bbc version!
React to his song concrete jungle or crazy bald heads
Will do. Thank you 😀😀
The lyrics of "War" are actually a speech that Martin Luther King once gave.
Actually…it’s taken from the 1963 Address to the United Nations by H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia (who btw, to the Rastafarians is the second coming of Christ..King of Kings,Lords of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah!)
Definitely not Martin Luther King 😂, but His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie.
@@josecarcamo1337 Really? I always thought it was by Martin Luther King...
@@westyravizWell, that's news for me.
I learned something new. Not King but Haile Selassie. How cool is this?
5:49 the bass or the keyboard, it can only be either or😅
Redemption song, No woman no cry, jamming, is this Love, all better in my view....and Could ypu be loved, buffalo soldier, lively up ypurself. War not one of his best. Oh and exodus and o f course I shot the sheriff. Marley is a rastafarian, a religion sort of Ethiopian version of Judaism but with ots of back to nature mixed in. Babylon = modernity ganja= sacrament
roger that 😊😊😊 thanks for the guidence there 😊
it is a lovely song but i'm not so good in english.i'v need to understand verry well!!!
what's your first or primary spoken language? I can add subtitles to the video for you!
It's french .
