Have you ever used a tunable head 8 inch tambourine to make a dual zone mesh pad? I'm thinking of attempting that, but I'm a little worried about how to work around the shallow depth.
Is there a way to plug this into a Mac or tablet? Via audio interface and a special software? I would love to build it as practice pad but I don't want to buy a module for it. Cheers
Basically, I have this really nice 14inch snare accustic at home and I wanna convert it using a drum trigger from the rt Roland trigger series however that fits over the rim and j just wondered if then I can't add the rubber rim protector or is there a better way to do this, thanks
How would one do this with pre-built external trigger packs, like the Pulse Red Hot triggers? Would I still need the mousepad material between the piezo and the inside of the can? (The reason I'm asking is because I'm terrible at soldering)

Hi Marcel, wow! thanks for your quick reply, i really like your channel by the way. I'm also using an electronic kit an alesis dm7x but bundled with only single zone cymbals and tom pads. The original kit as advertised has dual zone cymbals and pads though so I'm positive ill be able to upgrade my cymbals . I would like to add piezo elements to the electronic cymbals to convert them to dual zone, I'm not sure if that's possible, but the plugs are stereo TRS. I really got inspired by your video and considering some DIY. Thanks so much for yor reply! Would the process be similar for acoustic cymbal conversion?
Tristan Granados I don't really know much about Alesis cymbals. But I think if even the plugs are stereo and there are actually dual cymbal pads from Alesis, you should be able to modify them. You just have to pay attention on how to connect them. Do some research. I am sure other people have done it. And thanks for your feedback:)

See Mr Ryley, I don't need to kiss asses, since I am completely independent. If I recommend a product or company, it means that it is just good. And there is simply no other ass to kiss in terms of trigger technology, except Roland maybe.
Yes, I recommend the best gear if people ask for it. And you might not believe it, but they simply make the best in terms of DIY. So what I am doing is giving my honest opinion out of the experience I made with a lot of e-drum gear? I don't see what is wrong with that.
I want to usi it instead of buying a drum machine all I need is the audio and I'm gonna turn it into midi so I can use it as whatever type of drum I want

For my head i used a coaster mad from mousepad material it worked well
This is an awesome idea, can this also used as a bass drum pedal trigger?.

You can add a rim silencer, but not a ring. You just get a a piece of and cut it to the right length.
Yes but the Roland rim rubber cover can I use that and use the rt triggers Aswell?
There is no 14 inch rim rubber from Roland. You have to buy it fro another company.

Yes, you can install those Pulse Red Hot Triggers Everywhere.

You can, but I don't know how long they last.
does it matter how many Hz the piezos are, or how big they are? Im asking 'cause there are several in the shop im looking from.
I think it works with every piezo. If you want to be on the save side, go to R-drums.com ( goo.gl/X7ph5m )they'll give you the right one.
