    I've been a Blind Guardian fan for probably 17 years, this might be one of the best songs they ever wrote in my opinion which is amazing this ' late' in their career. Amazing riffs, progression, catchy, emotional, dramatic and also it is not too long or over-complicated. Just perfect in my opinion.

    Please,please,please,turn up volume of the back vocals, Marcus and Mi are doing great job on them.

      I don't know why but they're always too quiet when performing live.

    • @MensHominis
      @MensHominis 7 лет назад +4

      +MrArchDelux Sadly it's the same with practically every band featuring backing vocals. With that German band Subway To Sally for example, you literally hear them turning up the secondary mics for the "choir" sections and then turning them down again.

      Mens Hominis Helloween and Edguy haver louder backing vocals than this. Gamma Ray rtoo.

    My favorite song off BTRM. Actually this may be one of my all time favorites. And the solo has a tempo change with guitar orchestra. The kind of stuff I fckin love about their older stuff, too.

      Henry Allen Quite a few people say that, actually, from what I've heard. :) There is one more, though - in case you haven't heard it, search for the final song of the album, Doom. Unfortunately they only released it in the eighty dollar version. . . I myself have a RUclips ripped mp3 of it with the album rip of the CD I made. It's a gem of the album for sure.

    • @jimenezromain405
      @jimenezromain405 7 лет назад

      REALLY DUDE ?? WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF IT ???

    • @ahums16
      @ahums16 7 лет назад

      @Jimenez romain Again, because ~ aggravatingly ~ it was an exclusive to the $80 version of the album that was also including the big book about the story. No special releases - yet - contain Doom on CD in some 'special edition', there's no digital option, no vinyl. The only way to get it is to rip it from someone who uploaded it on RUclips, as I have done. Had I the space for it, I'd have gotten the book version. XP
      Yeah, pretty important piece, too, as it's the finale to the story. I also hear it was a leftover piece from Nightfall on Middle Earth that never made it on the album ~ I just heard that in a RUclips comment, so I don't know if it's true, but it'd also explain why when I had my 'master playlist' [before I loved every single song they've come out with from 1990 to now, and listen to each album straight] that I arranged Doom to play after A Dark Passage, haha XP Makes sense in both story's conclusions as well. Give it a listen, it is such an awesome piece.

    • @jimenezromain405
      @jimenezromain405 7 лет назад

      ahums16 Well i just listened to it and ... it's really good and enjoyable, though prophecies is still my favourite :P Well maybe as for the rest of the album i'll increasingly love it with time
      I must confess i have enjoyed Beyond the Red Mirror with the little enhanced book containing the CD, but i havn't really tried understanding the storyline. Well i know that the story follows up with Bright Eyes, with the guy locked in the wrong world who can't go in the other one to save it because the portals are destroyed. But well it is kind of complicated to analyse every single track to get a coherent story, i feel like it is kind of lyrical and no really clearly said. If tou have any piece of analyse to share, i'll take it ! ;-)
      However i have done this work for Nightfall in Middle Earth (god i love this album). I don't really see how can Doom close the story. The curse that lies on the Noldor is there since Feänor's wrath when the silmarils are stolen, as reminded in The Curse of Feanor, so i don't know why should they remind us of it at the end ? To me Final Chapter (Thus ends) is a really nice ending track. Maybe harvest of sorrow is already too much, but it is a bonus track, so it's ok (but i still love this song, don't make my say what i have not :P)

    • @ahums16
      @ahums16 7 лет назад

      Jimenez romain The best Blind Guardian songs are growers. :3 Hahaha! It all started for me with my instant loves, Wheel of Time and Road of No Release back in 2012. I slowly started falling in love with all of their work, it took time. And only just a few months ago did I also fall in love with all of Tales from the Twilight World (1990), all these years I never really liked it. Until now, that is, haha!
      That's basically all I understand, myself, I read through the booklet (such a nice design) but I can't really gleam enough for the story, myself, and I have come to several different possibilities, especially with the end and final lyrics. But it can also get a little confusing, as sometimes it seems viewpoints are incoherently switched between lyrics. All I can offer are my own two cents, and as I don't know much outside the lyrics, there is not much I can offer. XP
      Oh. . . well that's just the thing. I never read nor watched The Lord of the Rings. XD The only things I am learning, and have learned, of J.R.R. Tolkien's extraordinary epic, are from contexts within Blind Guardian's songs, and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. So out of all context, when I made that 'master list' I mentioned? I had A Dark Passage, Doom, and then Somewhere Far Beyond [I know based off of Stephen King's The Dark Towers books], and I also just made up my own little story that went with that. XP
      In fact only just recently did a good friend of mine tell me what the Silmarils were, and some stories that were about and included them.

    Nice performance, Beyond the Red Mirror was a fantastic album, the mixing was kinda wacky though and required multiple listens for it to sink in.
    This, At the Edge of Time, Holy Grail, Distant Memories, The Throne and Grand Parade are more or less on par with their classic stuff.
    Still think they would benefit even more from better mixing.

    • @isaiasguilarte
      @isaiasguilarte 7 лет назад

      Michał G yeah, for instance i feel that with all the years of experience they could be doing a so much better job with the drums..instead it seems to me as if they've been put them in the backseat, almost as a secondary instrument, where guitars and vocals are the main thing and then the rest...sad. They could have big, acoustic, clean, powerful sounding drums. Instead, we are left with a fisherprice, weak ass sound:'( as if it wasn't enough with the completely basic composition, as opposed to the older drummer whose german name I won't attempt to remember.

      How so? Honestly it was of my opinion the mixing was poorer here (After listening through Blind Guardian's albums from 1990 to 2015 so many times [The Virgin Remasters are flawless], I know why people complain about Nuclear Blast's mixing), not only were the band's lyrics quite a bit harder to hear but Hansi's delivery itself isn't. . well, all that great. I would say he sounds tired but holy fuck who wouldn't be during a two year tour around the world with basically a concert a day haha
