I think 1 (or 3) that were left out is the Takara Tomy carbots plus versions specifically Wheeljack...he's my grail & I haven't seen it for less than $275+ shipping along with Blue streak being around $225-$250...Prowl & Smokescreen I was able to get at $125 but keep in mind, all of these were around $80-$90 retail...
I got incredibly lucky and got all four of these guys around 2019-2020. Smokescreen, I got for $80. Bluestreak for about $90 and Prowl and Wheeljack for a combined $100 because I had to glue/repaint one of Wheeljack’s fins… The guy broke it as he went to pack it and ship it to me for more money. It still transforms and you’d barely notice unless I highlighted it, so I’m okay with getting Wheeljack for $40.
I feel like this can be an issue for collectors who are completionists. Whether its a certain character or manufacturer. I tend to do one representation of a specific character.I dont do the generation 2 re-colors. Not everything in my collection is Fanstoys. Im good with my gigapower Dinobots, maketoys reflector and reformatted insecticons.
The DS Skywarp and Thundercracker are about 50$ right now. No filler upgrades but still a deal. I think Takara overprices their figures. So I get KOs of them. I think the FT insecticons are overpriced as well, so I went with Badcube. Good Talk!!
I would like to collect Transformers, but the amount of options actually keeps me away. If could make a more recent video telling difference between all the brands would be super helpful.
Lots of options are usually good. It can be overwhelming, especially if just starting. What would say is look at each character and what you would expect it to be / look like / feel like. Many brands do these things very well. Fans Toys often does this the best, but other brands do as well. For example that Cosmos figure mentioned in the video. I have that one and was happy bought at the time cause thought was the best one. Stunned at the price that it’s selling for now. The problem with collecting these is if you’re looking to cash out and make a profit, or purchasing these because they represent something you want. I have two of Grindr cause I like that figure and wanted a representation of both robot and Dino. I was lucky enough to get the better Fanstoys Jetfire version that is now selling for more. I have the MP Prime and also have other brands of Prime. I guess would say if wanting to generally keep things keep them. If looking to capitalize on profits sell. There will always be better figures down the road. And also reissues. Be reminded that the insecticons were selling for ridiculous pricing few years back. And then a reissue. Same with Cyclonus, and then a reissue. All of the figures mentioned in the video could be reissued at some point. So also stay patient and bid time
What I would do first if find the handful of character(s) you want most. Look at the 2-3 “best” options and just get whichever one is either the most convenient, cheapest, nicest-looking, etc. And then, get another version if it’s a character you really love. When you have multiple versions of the same character in front of you, you tend to learn a lot about the brands that make each of those figures. My personal approach is that while I have differing levels of confidence in certain brands, I’ll buy any of them if they make a good figure. But I went through a lot of other versions of the characters I currently have by buying/reselling them over time. (Note: I do not transform my figures, so it makes it a hell of a lot safer bet to resell if you get a version of a figure you like less than another.)
Makes a bit more sense to do a little bit more homework and some math to show “percentage wise” which masterpieces have gotten more expensive. A $300 figure that went up to $375 isn’t as bad as a $200 that is now selling at $400+. Maybe rank them as well 🤷🏻♂️
I have done that in the past may do ranking on the next one but wanted this one to be more surprising. Also FT would dominate most of the top slots and wanted to pepper in other companies

Totally with you on the MMC Ravage, such a great looking figure. I think I even picked up the Catcall repaint I loved it so much But yeah - 4Ps! Dark purple Shockwave KO already yo!
For the last couple months, I've been looking to get a MP style Windcharger to complete my season 1 Arc crew. The only option appears to be X-transbots Boost, which I believe it originally sold for around $60-70. I can't find one for less than $130 shipped from Ali.
I got the MP10 way back then so my itch for a semi with trailer is already scratched, so I had no need to get MP44 at full price. Instead I got one of the KO MP44s that has the side wound . Now, if you want either of those, there are plenty of KO options for each. If I didn't already have the official MP10, I would've gotten the WeiJiang oversized comic color version. I got the blue XTB Cosmos on sale cuz I already had the TW green one.
I sold mine a couple of months ago and it sold for roughly $150. Nobody's buying the ones that's overpriced. Mine was basically brand new with Prime only being displayed and the trailer and accessories still tied downed to the box. I have way too many figures and started to sell some just to make room for others. I still probably need to sell off about 50% of my collection as they're all sitting on the floor with no place to display. Sadly, I'm still buying knowing there's no place to put them.
I haven't purchased anything on the secondary market in a very long time, in part, because I've been seeing more figures re-released and I've decided to wait instead, and so far, it has paid off for me - I just got FansToys Hunk which I had missed and had been waiting years for the reissue. Oh and I have a to voice a frustration unrelated to the topic: I had forgotten about FansToys Hydra and decided not to purchase the figure because I was so confident that FT would release a recolored version with the anime blue replaced with the toy green. FansToys does recolors all the time, looking at their Dinobots, Shockwave, Galvatron, Cyclonus, Astrotrain, etc. But they couldn't do a toy accurate Six-Shot??
I refuse to shop on eBay. Not because of the prices per se, it’s because I’ve had 2 different very negative experiences & I won’t be fooled a third time, no matter how much I want the figure. Let’s hope there are some re-issues, even if they are limited runs.
The dollar is way stronger than the Yen right now. Almost a record low for the yen. I hope you are getting your new from Fox New, because Japan and much of the world is doing worth than America. I buy from Japan a lot using sites like Amiami and so on and I've never head prices be this cheap. it is even better than the pre-covid exchange rate.
The savings was minimal vs the hassle of Amazon JP 3 years ago when I stopped using them and Showz has stepped up big time. You do know all mainstream media only give you 12% facts and 88% propaganda no matter which channel you choose
I love the real thing but I love all my KO’s too… I have yet to buy a bad one. Gosh what’s expensive are the newage and magic square toys. $65 for a legend scale autobot car is very high, they are tiny in vehicle mode. The omega supreme is ridiculously priced.
A special mention to MMC's IDW figures - their Helex, which was 200 at release, is now triple the price. I also passed on MP29+ for 200, which... oh boy.
I think where you stopped was a little funny. No sleep mode MP-01 or Lucky Draw MP-01. The Lucky Draw is probably more expensive than anything else but also far more rare.
Ironhide, Ratchet, and Bumblebee 2.0 (MP45) have all skyrocketed into triple digit territory. Last I saw, Ironhide was around $230-260, Ratchet was north of $300-400 (wtf...it ain't like there's less of him), and Bee 2.0 had a range of $210-*500*. MP44...lemme tell you the worst I saw: some third-party seller on the Walmart app wanted an unholy $1400 for this mofo. Not surprisingly, it seems to have been delisted. Meanwhile, I've never heard about the Takara MP10 being under $300. The Hasbro ones, however, I've never heard of any of'em being under $180 (which was the MSRP of the Year of the Horse MP10). It's gotten so that even the robot only 1:1 KOs have at one point gotten to cost almost as much as the real thing. Surprised that FansToys Hydra (Sixshot) is so pricey - there's DX9 Hanzo, MMC Terminus Hexatron and all its repaints, and on the lowest end but still shockingly nuts now...both Hasbro's Titans Return & Takara's Transformers Legends Sixshot. (TR tends to run $150 last I checked, and LG can run $140-200) I still feel a lot of these are too much, it's why I was more than happy with preordering the MP44 KO (and later the MP49 version, which I wound up having to cancel the preorder and just get outright a month later). I think that the most I've dropped without complaint is $125 for the MP43 BW Megatron KO, with the most outright being about $180 for the Jinbao Devastator+original upgrade kit (which was a minor bargain at the time compared to the G2 color variant). Oh yeah, what about the Omega Supreme options from FansToys & DX9? Aren't they still pretty expensive on the likes of evilBay?
