The release rate for these robosen things is insane. I feel like even 1 a year would be pushing it for most of their potential customer base

This is insane, I mean even for 1500 bucks like holy smokes man! I never thought I would live to see the day that a transformer would walk, talk and transform on its own, and I feel like as time goes on these kind of products will become more commonplace.

Robosen is really taking it to the next level this year, there were so many bots I didn't even think would be made by now.
Best G1 Grimlock to date. Looks accurate, and the auto transformation is flawless. Additional to that fun voice commands and you got quite the party favor to show off if you can afford it. It's crazy to me theirs a market for this when average folks like me struggle to keep up with most mainline releases.
Yeah, it looks amazing. I think the reason they can get away with this kind of pricing is because original G1 fans are old enough that our kids are now adults and in many cases (at least enough people for these prices to make sense) we have the kind of disposable income one gets in the latter 3rd of their career, boosted further by an empty nest.
I think it's awesome that now as an adult I have more toys to choose from than when I was a kid. Although I can't afford most of what I want, I'm glad us big kids get the koolest stuffs.
Grimlock has always been my favorite Autobot throughout the franchise. I don’t collect masterpiece, but in the case of him and my other favorite, Soundwave, I would definitely make an exception.
Absolutely adore his studio series figure and I have it proudly displayed since I took the time to customize it to give him the red eyes which I prefer.
As far as this figure goes, it’s a strong maybe.

I really respect Robosen for going the extra mile and getting the OG voice actors for these figures. I feel like any other company would opt for a cheaper va.
Everything about this is insane.... Including the price.
Grimlock looks cheap in that bright silver color... it should have been more gray like the original. Also some withering would be epic for realism.
WOW. Optimus was decently impressive in design but this Grimlock seems phenomenal.

honestly his auto-transformation surprised me of how those servos can transform him, whilst being able to stand!
This is just purely my blind speculation, but I think the reason he can't stand in robot mode once he's off is due to the gyros being turned off when there's no power. Gyros are usually used to balance things. In dino mode, the tail can act as another leg, so it's easier to support in that position without the gyros.
It cant stand due to the heaviness of the parts and because the servos are looser on Grimlock than on the Rotb prime and Bumblebee
@@BigJickle Yeah, I forgot about the servos needed to keep it standing. The servos aren't going to work without power.
This grimlock can be best birthday present for any g1 fans

It says something about these robots when the RUclipsr reviewers I trust all get a different RoboSen TransFormer character sent to them, and they all say that, yeah, it's cool, but the price is insane.

That;s insane, in just so many ways. Though, if one just wants a big Grimlock, one that can actually pose and stuff in robot mode, you can find upscaled MP Grimlocks for around ~150 dollars, I'm loving my one.
It's beautiful. I have a couple of these Robosen releases but as much as I love this one I'll wait for the Elite version. Limited Edition. Sure. 🖐️
Already a new Robosen! Here's to hoping they do an Arcee or ROTB Bumblebee! Ever since I found out about Robosen those have become my target products, just need them to do my favorites!
A lot of the old masterpiece figures probably still hold up in terms of engineering and durability, i’m still trying to get me a damn MP 10.

unlike what people say, on their website it says the voice actually is greg burger who apparently recorded over 150 lines exclusively for this
I thought the voice actor was Gregg Berger. Idk if it’s a voice modulation thing that they did for the 84 cartoon or if it’s just age, but he’s always sounded notably different when he’s portrayed Grimlock in everything since (PoTP, Devastation, FoC, etc)
Idk Devastation sounded fine to me maybe I’m miss remembering

Agreed. Even when it is Greg doing the voice in all these newer versions he just sounds different from the G1 cartoon

This is literally perfect. Except for the price and uncertainty of how long these things last. It looks perfect in design, it does everything I would want a Transformer and a dinosaur toy to do. Grimlock is in my top group of favorite Transformers, probably #1. I just don't know what to do with that price. I'd say people should Email the companies telling them that they will lose a lot of money by making the price so high. I'm sure once it is in mass production, it doesn't cost nearly as much as making the original model and it will probably harm them to not have it accessable to most Transformers collectors.
As a grimlock fanboy, I want this so damn much, hopefuly they make a fall of cybertron version of this
Man, I absolutely love the look of this thing in both modes, but yeesh, that price. I mean, that 4ft Fort Max Fans Toys is supposedly coming out with might cost less than this.

I wish they could add a feature where ChatGPT can actually act as an AI for it using natural language detection. That would be awesome and that the Bot can answer on its own.
Would've been nice to see them supply a back grabber stand of some sort or something to allow for displaying G in robot mode.

Looks like a 1 to 1 of the masterpiece mold. (That’s a good thing)
The chest doesn't move (I think) and the legs transform differently, but otherwise the overall mould itself is the exact same. Though, Grimlock's transformation hasn't really changed that much since G1 at all, and he's basically perfected at this point.
Now we just need sound wave and megs in the line and fight Begun

One of my favorite series is Transformers, one of my favorite characters is Grimlock. This feels like he is really alive! They even gave him Gregg Berger's voice! Too bad it is way too expensive. They need to lower the price. It is going to make them lose money because if more people could buy it, it would add up to a lot more. They even made it Canon that he can fart! That is one of my favorite humor subjects! They did so much right, I'm just disappointed that they aren't making it more realistically affordable.

These Robosen figures are amazing, but I guess it remains to be seen how long they can hold up with those servos/motors.
Like all things if it isn't abused and taken care of it should be fine. No issues with my Prime so far.
When I first saw the reveals for this, I nearly cried. It was cool that Robosen started this line of autoconverting Transformers, but I never liked the optimus prime all that much so I didn't have much interest in buying him. Grimlock however, looks glorious! And all I can say is, so much for my college savings...
JK! This is still too expensive for me to buy. But maybe if down the road, I have the money for this I might buy it (that is if they're still making this product several years from now)

Love the review I really like your business analysis of like the target market this figure is aiming for, it really helps contextualize why it is th way it is even if I still think it’s vastly under engineered and overpriced for how little he does, same with Prime and Bumblebee.
