Had I had the energy, I would've gone back and edited out both colorings and fxs, because the final result is ugly as, I apologize. I'd much prefer a stripped down version, but hey .... I made this months ago, and it's just been sitting there gathering dust, so here it is.
These two hold a VERY special place in my heart. The amount of times I got emotional over them, oh boy.
I'm a sucker for many mentor relationships on the show, but I gotta say this one definitely takes the cake.
I mean, bubbly overconfident army-brat mentors grumpy reluctant underdog? Sign me the fuck up. I was on board since the first time they interacted, and it kept getting better and better over time. She looked past everything she had been told about Alex Karev. Saw his potentional underneath all the douchey layers. I think she lowkey related to that aspect of him ("You remind me of me"). Not that she ever was as bad-tempered as him. But she was cocky, and even selfish to a certain degree. Difference was, she knew how to transform those faults into strength. And she taught him that, too.
And I love how at some point Alex started paying back all the support he had had from her, letting her lean on him. Ugh, that kind of trust.
I think this is one of the defining relationships Alex has had - along with Jo's and Mer's (my holy trinity) - over the course of the seasons. It really showcase the range this character has in his interactions with women on this show, which is something I really appreciate. You have romantic love (Jo), friendship (Meredith), and mentorship (Arizona). Holy trinity.
If it wasn't clear, she's the king and he's the lionheart.

I think Alex filled a void for Arizona, a void that opened when Arizona's brother died. I think Alex was like her little brother. And the friendship they developed was truly one of the best.

I honestly think this video is a masterpiece. I've always loved their relationship, they mean something to each other. Arizona really cares for him, deeply, in a way that no one would ever care for him. She believed in him from day one, when no one does. She made him (along with Meredith, and Jo) who he is. She made sure he'd become this amazing, wonderful peds surgeon, she stood by him when no one else would. He loves her so deeply, cares for her so deeply.
They mean so much to each other. She saw this asshole, annoying kid that no one wants to be around, this broken soul and said "I got him. He's with me." She got him. She was here for him; she still does.
I think without her, Jo wouldn't have fallen in love with the Alex Karev she fell in love with. Arizona made him who he is. Jo fell in love with him, Arizona chose to teach him, Meredith chose to be his friends because all 3 of them chose to see something behind what other people say about "Alex Karev" and that's? Well, that's beautiful.
Right the moment I realized damn she cares about him more than I thought was when he told on Meredith messing with the trial and she was so worried for him because the whole hospital was pissed at him and she wanted him to be ok
Very well said alex karev can be mean but he have a big heart to care and love someone even he doesn't know that person is I wish Alex Karev will be back at season 17 😇
and there goes izzie ruining everything by kidnapping alex again. he had such a great life in Seattle with mer and jo and everyone and he left everything just for izzie

The show is going to be so empty without Arizona in the new season. I can’t believe they’re taking her and Karev away from us.
see everyone sees her a his guide, which is 100% true. But he was her guide too. When she lost her leg, when her relationship fell apart, he was the part of the day that kept her happy. Kept her on her toes. Kept her sane.
I was hoping so badly that Arizona would let Alex give her a speech saying how much she's helped changed his life. And I'm rewatching their scenes together, I realized that Alex started feeling confident of himself and thought that he could actually be something when Arizona first said to him that he could be the future of the hospital. Arizona really did help made Alex into the great surgeon that he is. I miss them dearly. 😭
To me this is the best teacher and student relationship in this show
This is such a great video.People hate on Arizona, but forget that without her, then Alex wouldn't have become the surgeon that he ended up becoming. Arizona and Alex are probably my favorite mentor/student relationship. I really want Arizona to come back. Especially once Alex has kids. It would be so great if she ended up delivering his future kids. Plus I would love to see her reaction to him becoming interim chief of surgery at GSM and then chief at Pac north.

This is perfect just pure perfection i always thought Arizona was the older sister that Alex never had she had his back she taught him she adored him

In my opinion, it's the first season where Alex is really involved in peds, with all of the africa project, and it showcases so much of their relationship, i love it.
everyone saying best mentorship of the show, which is true. but i see them as way more than that, them along with mertina are to me the best greys friendships. no one knew each other the way they did GOD. thank you for this.

This is such an underrated relationship. They meant something to each other, and Alex can be kinda a tough nut to crack sometimes. This edit is amazing.
I honestly love Alex he is so caring and forgiving and does so much to help patients but not only patients, family’s, kids,friends, and even his own family and friends he is such an amazing surgeon and loves everyone especially being best friends with Meredith And Arizona I honestly think Alex and Arizona are so understanding and underrated and work so well together they are honestly both amazing Pediatric surgeons. Now With Meredith I can’t even explain how much that friendship makes my heart meltttt I cry whenever there together it used to be Magic and Now it’s just MA (btw Magic is Meredith Alex George Izzie and Christina) Meredith had been through so much she survived a plane crash a hospital shooting loosing George izzie and Christina And a broken leg, broken arm, jaw break, and couldn’t talk, and couldn’t move and survived her husband even died and Alex cried every time. Alex is just an amazing person and I feel so bad for him he needs more love and attention on the show💗🥺.
