shopify tracks your inventory and won't sell items when they're out of stock unless you tell it to and you fulfill the orders yourself and then add the tracking number after you've shipped the package
Hie can you help on how to do orders on dropshipping for someone who does have inventory in hand and when can one safely say the store is ready and they can start dropshipping

If you had the "Carrier and app rates" option selected, would it have automatically charged them for the item shipping up front?
After labeling the package do you just take it to the usps drop off location near you and they are responsible for the tracking number to be sent to your customer ?
