Dont get hit, you must be able to block, parry and defend punches , while defending its important to take that opportunity to strike them with counter punches, dont get taken down, fighting on the ground is very difficult. I explain two ways to keep the fight on the feet and the most important is to know your surroundings. Really enjoy your advice on all the platforms I follow you on. #4 is one everybody should be aware of because a lot of people especially when they don't know how to fight go for the low tackle. Remember push the head down and sprawl and #5 is for any situation.. always be aware of your surroundings. you don't want to back up and step over a traffic bumper or something like a curb and hit your head .thanks again Tim looking forward to more advice

Principle #1 Avoid the fight if at all possible.
Principle #2: Win the fight before it begins: carry a gun or any weapon that will give you an advantage, because there is no such a thing as a fair fight and weapons can and very likely will come out in a anything goes street fight.
Most people carry at the very minimum a pocket knife and under an act of rage and aggression are very likely to use it during or even after the fight.

I'll be honest, I'm 28 years old and I don't know what I want to do with my martial arts path. I've looked at some tips and tricks of boxing and muay thai online to see which one would fit me but I have no idea what'd actually work for a small 5'7 guy in new york. Is there a preference between either or for the not so muscular short guy in either sport? Maybe those sorta people lean to MT? Idk. Which one do you think would benefit the smaller dude in the longer run in a self defense situation or if its neither, what do you think would be beneficial. (excluding weapons, we all know guns/knives would be better options to keep your life safe than any martial art, am just asking in terms of fist 2 fist)
