    I asked a security engineer at the company I work for if he ever thought about becoming a pentester and he told me: "As sexy as it sounds, when you have 3 kids, a wife and a house, it doesn't sound that sexy anymore as pentesters travel quite a bit, as well as Red Teamers."
    Is that true? If it is, I'm gonna stay in Blue Team and only do offensive as side hustle (Bug Bounty).

    • @YeetYeetYe
      @YeetYeetYe 4 месяца назад

      You can be an internal pen-tester, no travel required.

    • @FaLkraydz
      @FaLkraydz 4 месяца назад

      @@YeetYeetYe or maybe a web app. I think every pentesting position is possible to be local or doing remote. Except physical pentesting.
      Red teaming is a little bit more hard core I guess.
      I’m still an infosec analyst. But my next certs are PJPT, PNPT, and OSCP in this order. So I’m on my way to become a pentester and future red teamer regardless. All I’ll do is pick the positions that don’t require traveling and/or do bug bounty. 😂

    I’ve been doing a few capture the flags and hope to do more when School ends December 16. I’m very much interested in Pentesting but idk if I’d be good at it since I have not been doing very well in the coding assignments I did and I failed my intro to CS class. I also hate Packet Tracer that I’m currently using in my current network class.

    Thanks for the info Sandra! I've been doing CTF and learning python for the last year, working towards my security+ for Jan. I've just finished a 7 week placement as a helpdesk analyst, and I've found it super useful gaining experience what it's like to work within an IT team. Currently trying to find something more permanent, SOC analyst or even helpdesk again but finding it so hard to get anything! I would like to eventually end up as a pentester but feel like I need to work in networking first?

    • @sackwhacker
      @sackwhacker Год назад

      If you're reading this 1 year later, you don't need to work in networking, just pick it up in some course then pick up a certification such as the eJPT, OSCP, PNPT etc.

    Hi Sandra,
    Why you move into Cyber Security Engineer?
    You know there is other networking career: Cisco Network engineering. Have you considered it as well?
    Cisco also have certification programs: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE
