yeah imo imaginators and trap team are really similar, level-design approach wise, the use of a lot of stock music, the mediocre to bad character balancing, villain senseis, crystals. I feel like TFB saw how many people loved trap team and evolved on the aspects people DIDN'T like about it lmaoooooo.
What I genuinely hated about imaginatiors was that instead of continuing the story after superchargers where Kaos decides to become a good guy, they decided to make him a villain again with no explanation at all. He is just the game's main villain out of nowhere, and even worse is that they have THE KAOS be a PLAYABLE CHARACTER IN A GAME WHERE HE IS THE VILLAIN, and as a Sensei too. What storyline was scrapped in favor for kaos to be the main villain again for him to be a playable sensei Skylander? Because I know damn well they had some sort of redemption arc or a character growth going on with Kaos since trap team, and it became more noticeable in superchargers
Fr they had so much potential with the story with Kaos and maybe a new villain like the brain or something. But at the end of the day I still love imagination
@@Realz-e3i imaginators is great because I get to create my own skylanders despite the limitations, and I get to play as all of the skylanders I have, and also race without having to buy the trophies, but man was the story just not it
Heres the thing: Kaos was only good and consulting evil until he found a way to get his powers back. So in this case he found out about mind magic but was still needing more information so he Jumpstart the game by using all his mind magic at first to make the doomlander and start the conflict once more.
I think the reason they wanted to make it seem like an expansion was an attempt to revive the game after the tragedy known as superchargers and when looking back at how much people liked trap team
On the other hand, I was told that the gaming engine used in Imaginators was based on the one that Vicarious Visions used in Swap-Force and Superchargers
There is an in-universe explanation. The villains were reformed and became heroes, or just stopped doing bad. That's why Chompy Mage wasn't a bad guy after Trap Team.
@@erynnmurphy2996, well, Kaos did become a sensei. It could stand to reason that he's acting out of boredom or maybe being a being of pure evil. But without another game, it's all just a theory.
I am a sucker for Trap Team. So of course I love Imaginators too. Yes, there are plenty of similarities, but the uniqueness of both games makes them different enough to where I don’t mind. As long as I get to kill some bad guys with my boy Kaos I’ll be good.
Another similarity that Trap Team and Imaginators could have had was that in every level there is at least one boss battle but not all Imaginators DLC has boss battles like the Gryphon Park Observatory or the Cursed Tiki Temple, a pity because it could have been another great similarity.
The reason why the villians are playable In imaginators is lore Based, after the Events of trap team, Eon gave the villians a new chance, some villians used that chance, they had to help out in the acedemy i think, which took them quite a long time, and thats why they returned in imaginators
Something i really disliked about Imaginators, was how you could tell, they made it for Kids specifically. Back in the Beginning with SSA, we still had a game, that could classify as something serious, atleast compared to other games like it. But Imaginators stripped all the elements away, that gave the games depth. Kaos wasnt a villain that was actually dangerous anymore, he was more like the typical rogue you faced every other weekend. Like, the guy enslaved the skylands TWICE and had a magical blue hood, when he apperead. This time he felt like a misguided 12 year old who felt ecstatic about having any power at all. Not to mention the game was way brighter, and more colourful than the other installments. To me the game is still the worst in the series, and the only good thing about it, is the existance of Wild Storm, whos my favorite Skylander
No matter how much worse the game is than the others in the series, at least it had good gameplay and being able to create your own skylanders is still a very fun gimmick.
Of course Kaos loves the word Doom. His vehicle is called the doomstation of ultimate doomstruction 😂 (great vid btw! Happy to see a newer skytuber! I've been debating returning to making skylanders content)
I like Imaginators and it's what my Son loves too because he can swap the characters out so easily on the Nintendo Switch without a portal and also play all the characters from the earlier series in the same way. He especially loves all the doomlanders and to play as Kaos. We love watching your videos and learning more each time. Thanks for keeping the magic alive.
Its obvious that akl the villians would be from trap team simply because there arent any other notabke villians There was no one they could put from SSA since all of them were just the shadow landers, drill x is the only other notable villian and not only we know his dead theres also no way he could work.i do admit that mwe could have gotten baron von shellshock or cluck or smth but truth is those guys really werent as notable as people think this game was also being worked on before superchargers was released so obviously they couldnt put any from that game. You have tp think that there were only limited spots on which could just be returning characters they simply just chose some notable ones from trap team since they literally were experienced with that game and it made most sense
i would say this was due to the amount of rushing for production. Take into account these guys where banging out a new game every year so it must have been pretty hard to come up with new gimmicks for 6 years in a row. I would see the wave releases as more of deadlines like if it was wave 4 they would need to speed up and have the game done so they could polish it. Reusing the stuff is just a way to save time which you can see in games like cod, another product of activision.
@regularphil There are a lot of similarities. The doomlander boss fights are reminiscent of the shadowlander ones. The entire final level is literally just layer of chaos with a new coat of paint, even down to where you fight Super Chaos; they didn’t even change the name. The Super Chaos boss fight is essentially just the same fight from SSA but with shockwaves and no hydra. Chaos the whole game resides in his castle very reminiscent of the one in SSA, and watches over almost all the boss fights as a giant floating head. Only Skylanders from that specific game can access its elemental gates, something SSA, Trap Team, and Imaginators have in common. All three also utilize a lot of expansion packs, Imaginators especially. It also attempted to bring Crash Bandicoot back into the public perception for future purposes, like how they did in SPYRO’s Adventure. I could go on.
Here’s another one, one of the only fights in the game Chaos doesn’t reside over just so happens to be a giant with questionable intelligence. Not to mention you can also make the doomlanders in game, and play as them. Sorta similar to how the Shadowlanders from SSA are all essentially just Skylanders you can play as(but evil).
@@supremedellerior3628 I suppose you have a fair point. I do often argue that the shadowlanders are on the same level as the doomlanders. Kaos was reminiscent of SSA Kaos. But other than that, the two games have a very different feel. Also the expansion and gate comparisons are a bit of a stretch because most of the games share those traits. But I feel like you are still right about the Kaos stuff.
I find it quite ironic how so many people still unironically love trap team, but absolutely despise imaginators. All of those trap team glazers keep on going on and on about how trap team had the best gimmick ever, but the second imaginators brings back your favorite villains as actual skylanders it gets seen as the rebirth of the antichrist.
