I have just acquired a draw loom and I am so inspired by your work. I now have to select my first project. Wish me luck.

That is really exciting! I wish you all the luck in the world, although I am sure you'll have great success. Just take it one step at a time, as the wise woman said. If I can be of any help at all, please don't hesitate to get in touch - my e-mail address is on the 'About' page. And enjoy your new adventure!

Question. Why would you not just have 3 ground shafts. 1&2 for tie down. 3 for the other tabby and to be controlled by the pattern harnesses??

One unit for S&W contains four warp ends. Drawloom mechanics typically require - with the usual provisos - one shaft per unit-end. We have to remember that the treadle tie-up is controlling two sheds simultaneously. Explanation starts around the 9:30 mark. Sometimes careful study of the drawdown is required before things to go *click* - in my mind, at any rate ;-)
