    I'm used to using buzzy chainsaws.. I would call my Himalayan non-buzzy.. a no ABS BS4 2018.. I'm 6-2 210, I find it to be a comfortable neutral riding position. Reviewers are always yammerin about the brakes.. Maybe compared to a sport bike they're inadequate, I've had no issues, mine work fine. Apart from being persnickity on occasion, just like people, it's user friendly with the heart of a champ. So far so good.

      There seems to be anecdotal evidence that these engines smooth out after the first few thousand miles. It does have a counterbalance shaft to reduce vibrations. I have a 2021 Himalayan. I have 25,000 km on mine now. You will find that the cold blooded nature and the vibration will fade with time. I have the hard panniers, the hand guards, the crash bars, driving lights, LED tail light, upgraded pegs, and master cylinder cover. I’m 5’4” and the bike fits me pretty well. My only complaint is the motor output. On gravel it is fine, but on pavement it is lacking. I have done many 800 km (500 mile) days on this bike and on the highway it can be a little slow.

    • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  7 месяцев назад

      That was our one complaint too- displacement and power output. We’re curious about the new Himi 452. We were hoping for a least a 500 or maybe even a 650 twin (since they already have that versatile mill), but the new 452 looks promising.
      Agreed, the 411 is otherwise a great bike. Recently spent some time with the Scram 411, and loved it.

    I've had my Himalayan for about 15 months and love it. Up to 7000 miles now. I have 2 other bikes and a car, so that's why the milage is still quite low.
    The 'choke' is, in fact, a fast idle lever, which I never use. I think it's supposed to be effective at high altitudes which, in the Uk, we don't really have.
    I agree that the screw threads on the tank guards are a bit pointless if RE don't make anything to fit into them. I think the GIVI bags that you mentioned strap on - so still no use for them there. I know some people have bought some Ammo boxes, which you can buy on eBay and rigged up some metal brackets and fitted those onto the tank guards using those fixed, threaded holes. You'd think RE would have a whole catalogue of things you could screw into them.

    a couple of other things, somebody must have designed it to be the easiest bike on earth to clean, I have large hands an can reach almost everywhere on the bike. DIpped, the headlight beam is very wide but bright, Full beam is fantastic. I hope the latest updates have improved the steering head bearing as a slight instability causing a shimmy above 60mph. It is not alarming just annoying. Road handling is sensitive to tyre pressure. When too low you will run wide and it ruins the otherwise brilliant handling. For clarification mine is the carb equivalent of the bs4 i.e. quality improved. It is so cool to be able to putt along in 5th at 30mph at 2500rpm . like an old brit single but better.

The RE is a beauty but it isn't a real all rounder, another 10-15 bhp out of that engine and it would be perfect. Sounds like they have the build quality and reliability down pat for a world bike. • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  3 года назад +1

      Hi Chuck,
      These bikes are built simple but tough, made for on and off road conditions over long hauls. With a 4 gallon tank, about 428 lbs wet, you're going to ride well into the 200 mile range between refills. Comfortable, upright riding position, so long rides are no problem, at least for me- 57 yrs old, 5'8", about 155 lbs. A bit underpowered over the road, but hey, its a 411cc single.
      Good question about the wet or dry clutch. Couldn't find anything immediately on it. I'm assuming wet, judging from other aspects of the bike.

The engine has really broken in nicely, and with 3,600 miles now on my odometer, I can easily maintain 65-70 mph,with 30 pounds of gear inside tank bag, front engine guard bags, and 8 liter roll top bag on rear rack. I am 5 ft. 10 inches, and 225 lbs. My only issues have been a couple of over torqued (or cross threaded bolts" on bash plate, and a factory battery that demands the purchase of a battery tender device, as even five days of no riding will prevent reliable starting due to parasitic drain on battery.

      Wow, I’m sorry to hear this, Jeffrey. We honestly found the compass useless as well, but never had a stalling problem in the month/half we had one. Started and ran like a champ for the 450 miles or so we logged on it. Hopefully your local RE dealer can diagnose what’s up with it, and get you back in the road with no hiccups.

    Best Value Semi-Dirt bike, yes almost certainly.
    Best Value bike, well the Royal Enfield INT (Interceptor) 650 is probably a bit better.

    Its a great bike for the money, A and B roads, dirt tracks great commuter but don't ride it on highways or Motorways its slow.

    • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  3 года назад

      We were able to push the bike comfortably around 60-65 mph out on open, multi-lane roads, so it’s not a terrible highway bike, just need to stay clear of the more speedy lanes, for sure.

    Who provided you with the motorcycle? Who paid for the review?

    • @roaddirttv
      @roaddirttv  3 года назад +1

      We were supplied the bike by Royal Enfield North America. No, we were most certainly NOT paid for our review.

    • @totkarotova9551
      @totkarotova9551 3 года назад

      Even if you are not paid for the review, when somebody provides you with equipment to test, you become biased by default. Same as making comments on your friends artwork, which you do not really like. You try to be diplomatic at least. It is different if you buy something with your hard-earned money and you feel cheated.

      @@totkarotova9551 So what do you suggest? How are motojournalists supposed to procure bikes for review, if not from manufacturers? I’m under no obligation to give them a glowing review. Yet of course I’m a bit biased- I’m first and foremost a motorcycle rider, then a motorcycle journalist. I love to ride, love all things two wheels & a motor, so of course I’m going to look for what I love about each bike. If I wanted to attack and destroy every subject of my writing, I’d have become a political reporter.
      If you’ll visit our website, www.RoadDirt.tv, you’ll read honest moto-journalism, honest reviews, honest stories, as you will in the videos on this RUclips channel as well. But we unashamedly love motorcycles. If that discredits us in your eyes, then so be it.
