No one is saying you need to fit any or all of these modifications but having the choice of so many options make it a great choice of bike for those who want to tinker and personalise it.

      I don't want to comment on that remark more. My favourites are:
      1. Iohan, the toughest human ever ruclips.net/video/I3Rq5xFgM1s/видео.html . Iohan is from a small Canadian village high up in the north, but urges to see the world. Broke with his father, left home, and after some kind of crazy beginnings in Alaska, his videos are now the most emotional and lyrical compositions of beautiful imaginary and beautiful humans. His narration alone is poetry. Initially my heart was touched because he reminded me so much on myself. Now it is the world class content. He's demanding on his viewers, though.
      2. Ed Pratt, left home with 18 years to unicycle around the world: ruclips.net/video/Hr5eVQztnns/видео.html . He was declined the world record because - as the company said - he took too long. How can I say? 18 yo and leaving home to ride then 3 years around the globe ... as the first human ...
      There are actually a number of women biking around the world. I think Noraly really has some beautiful episodes, but being a motorcycle rider myself, to me she is not doing anything special. You can hate me for saying that, it's ok. One person had to say it I guess.

      @alan bane The 650 will obviously have the same 2 cylinder engine as the new interceptor. It will be much heavier than the 400. So will it be worth waiting ? Let us wait and see. The 400 engine is much more modern than the Bullet's one. It would be nice to develop/expand it a bit more, while keeping the Himalayan reasonably heavy. Wait and see, again.

    • @AbdulAllahAbuDaoud
      @AbdulAllahAbuDaoud 4 года назад +8

      Bernard Dulmet, I don’t agree. The RE 650cc engine is very wide, partly due to the 4 valves per cylinder and would make a bad choice for the Himalayan type chassis. This leaves RE to come up with a suitable engine. That could take donkey’s years.

    • @Don_Mitchell
      @Don_Mitchell 4 года назад

      @karmakaze Moto big fan of your work! Started by following your travel back to Alaska on the Himalayan. Curious about your statement on keeping the single cylinder set up on the Himalayan....is your preference owing to weight issues, or something more? I know so many people who’re waiting for the twin engine to be mated to the Himalayan chassis!

    • @bernarddulmet4909
      @bernarddulmet4909 4 года назад +6

      @@Don_Mitchell I think that longing for a 2 cylinder Himalayas is a big mistake. The trail bike will be heavier than the road-oriented Interceptor and it will feel much heavier because increasing the suspension travel will higher the center of gravity. Moreover there are lots of 2 cylinders trail bike around. KTM understood it launching the 390 Adv but it will not replace the former Suzuky Kawasaki and Honda 650 thumper. It might be too sophisticated and fragile for this t task.

      I’m honestly considering buying one after I get some stuff in order. The way I see it is if I have to sell my fun car then I’m definitely buying a motorcycle. Especially cause my mother is begging me not to. ( hint never tell your children not to do something cause they’ll do it just to spite you) anyways I’m looking for something that’s a cross between a dirt bike and something I can use to go back and forth to work with. But I don’t want to buy a Kawasaki KLR or a Suzuki DRZ and I really can’t afford those 650cc monsters anyways. Since I’m after first motorcycle I’m looking for something that i can improve on but is strong enough to take the lumps and bumps of riding. The RE Himalayan looks like exactly what I’m looking for. ( obviously I’ll order the 462 big bore kit and a few hop up parts to have after I’m more comfortable with it and want more ) it’s a bike that I can have fun with but can actually take on trips and can carry enough stuff for a week.

      Assuming RE expands its beachhead in the USA, I'd expect some kind of deluxe Himalayan Hitchcock Edition, fully upgraded with all the stuff, to hit the US market in the next couple years.

    Can you help ? I really like the Himalayan but find the stock seat pushing me forward and my knees go over the groove of the tank, this makes the ride relay uncomfortable.
    Would you have a solution for this ?
    Also top comfort for my passenger mane also with a sissy bar, back-part for more comfort in her back ?

    I am trying to decide between the 390 Adventure & Himalayan. I much prefer the idea of a Himalayan but the highway performance & brakes are the main issues for me. I am based in Thailand and the reboring seems expensive and non-undo-able
    Do the sprockets improve top speed? Where does the torque kick in?
    Are there reliable brake upgrades you could recommend?

    Cool stuff but what is the total cost of these upgrades including the bike itself? Does it put it in the next class of bike that already comes with these upgrades at the same price or below? I'm thinking about a Himmy as my first bike but I don't want to have to spend a lot more on upgrades and such to just make the thing run right.

    Okay so im doing a thing to my Himalayan turning it into a rat chopper and I was wondering if you make a forward engine crash guard that would be a bit better for putting highway pegs on like a cruiser? All the sets I have found are to narrow to use like that. I've put the upgraded cam and exhaust, changed my light and cluster to be fork mounted, got a sissy bar, put on an eagle fender ornament, installed tusk luggage, slapped on some mini ape hangers with all the electronic device retention stuff, a lighter and cup holder but I want to be able to put my legs in the forward control position for those extra long sections of road.

      EFI has been a pain in the ass on many of my bikes. It needs so many extra sensors, plugs, cables, ecu, fuel pump, tps, etc. just so much that can go wrong (and will, on an older bike) and is horrible to troubleshoot. Also, changing pipes and aircleaner messes up the mixture and retuning an ecu is not always possible without chiptuning.
      Carb problems? Just open it up, clean, screw together, open the fuel valve and of you go. Adjusting a carb is easy once you know how and can be done with only a screwdriver. Way better. Only thing i like with efi bikes is the cold start. Thats nice and easy, but thats it for me.
      Damn injection only made it to motorcycles because of emision laws.

    • @rya3190
      @rya3190 3 года назад +2

      @@paulvanderhaegen761 normally a carb is a down grade (and admittedly you may loose some power and economy), but for the kind of bike the Himalayan is, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Heck, you seem to have to do more maintenance on this bike than others, but the maintenance is a lot easier than said bike, so a carb would be in the same mindset.

    What the Himalayan needs is a 650cc twins engine that's on the INT650 and a lighter frame and suspension and it'll be ready to take on most middleweight motorcycles in that class globally.
