The East Germans kept more German heritage than the west .
Exspecidlly the heritage from the dark 1000 years between 1933 and 45. 😂😂😂😂
The Soviets were smart letting the NVA keep its Prussian heritage.
А это потому, что русские не ломали немцев, как американцы

The lead Drum Major looks really energetic and confident on leading the band, especially during the lockmarsch, his step is sharper than others, like he knows his job really well.
His baton signals are also pretty sharp and precise. Btw its called a Drum Major, majorette refers to the female equivalent and are usually civilian.
@@odysseyvoyager2354 pardon my mistake, i thought the military drum major is also called as a majorette, seems i do not have adequate knowledge regarding to that, thank you for the correction 👍

Die Begrifflichkeiten, die hier gefallen sind sind alle falsch! Sie haben vom Osten soviel Ahnung wie eine Kuh von Kernenergie. Es handelt sich um den Stabführer!

hi, i was wondering if you have the full parade for us to enjoy. two minutes is not enough :(. we love your channel thank you showing us this amazing history!
Hey, I am glad you enjoy my content. Unfortunately I was only able to buy 2 minutes of footage, it's incredibly expensive.
Got the ole goosestepping going on.
Das war wenigstens noch eine deutsche Armee mit Tradition. 👏
Das ist eine Darstellung einer Armee !!!

Thank you for uploading this. It is a shame that such an important part of history is just sitting in some box gathering dust when people from across the world use these old film reels to learn.
Where do you find this footage?
It was released decades ago by International Historic Films , on VHS . I have two copies of the whole event.

@@fishyc150 , easy to be confused. The one difference between the DVP (police) and NVA (armed force) uniforms is that the former are green (as you can see in this video) while the latter are stone grey. The cut of the uniform is identical, and so is the grey helmet.

15 years in the Navy but only once just my battalion paraded for some big shots.

Its the Parade March of the German Peoples Police!
The KdA ist one of those organisations which would honestly scare me the most besides the Stasi. Every single big industrial plant in the GDR had a sort of „armature army battalion“ per say and these guys were definitely loyal to the SED.
During one of the monday demonstrations at the GDR’s 40th anniversary they were actually sent out to disperse the crowd which had gathered outside at the Volkspalast. The Volkspolizei was overstrained and busy not getting beaten up themselves. But due to the unorganised nature of the protest and therefore the crowd spreading into multiple streets, any attempts were in vain (thank god).
There’s some wonderful footage just showing how even the mightiest state apparatus can come to its knees, here:
ruclips.net/video/TBxJ-Ydxj7c/видео.html
That aside, the more “civilian” look is certainly a contrast to the sharp appearance of the NVA, I suppose there weren‘t enough raw materials left? ;)
Thank you for uploading these wonderful videos up to the internet for us all to enjoy, it‘s so incredible to watch this in such a fine quality! :D
Yes, the KdA certainly were no joke. On weekends, regular day people, construction workers, dentists, teachers, and even doctors would receive rudimentary military training. If World War 3 broke out, the whole country could mobilize into one giant military camp! People often forget how close we were to WW3 during the Cold War, it was truly a scary time.
The worst thing about the Cold War was that if WW3 broke out, it would begin at the Inner-German border where NATO meets Warsaw Pact. Both sides were seriously paranoid, but I can imagine the SED was arguably more paranoid than their Western counterparts. After all, they were the ones who built the Berlin Wall and had civilian combat units.
And thank you! The sound and picture quality is stunning, I was very happy when I first received this footage, I couldn't stand the terribly low quality VHS version that was on RUclips!
dispersing crowds is nothing unique to east germany, look to capitalist countries like france, georgia, russia or anywhere with a police presence around protests. The internet means we are surveilled more viggourously in the present day than at any time in history, state intellegence commonly purchases data from social media sites and every money transfer and phone call can be observed and located. Authoritarianism and Communism are seperate ways to run things from each other, and now is the time that we are constantly surveilled but also care the least about it. Its not just China and its not just the USA, chances are high that you're own government has a hand in it too, especially in europe.

The modern day German army does not hold military parades, since they maintain the doctrine of "civilians in uniform."
They were replaced by gay parades.
