In some way my family (named Vogel) is related to the Dassen family. This was back in Brooklyn in the 1930’s. And God knows there were enough liberals if not outright student communists in the family.
But the exact relationship is unclear to me.
Meanwhile he had a golden reputation among my family for not ratting out his peers to the HUAC.
