Another wonderful episode ! Sadly, I didn't get a chance to watch live. But I love how we can see it later here at YT or over on Facebook. Lots of great questions ! Anne & Eddie are the BOMB !! 👍😎❤
The finale of Armored Car Robbery (1950), has William Talman and the stolen loot scatter over the airport runway as the plane propeller (off screen) make mincemeat out of him.
The Noir City Festival Hollywood 2024 at the magnificent, historic, Egyptian Theater last weekend was incredible! I saw "Nightmare Alley" 1947 with Tyrone Power in an original, 35 mm silver nitrate print, as promised by Mr Eddie Muller. That gentleman couldn't have been nicer to chat with, waiting for different camera angles for a good picture on my phone. This was the 25th Anniversary of the Hollywood Festival and so they showed "Nightmare Alley" like the first one. The nitrate version is a revelation on not only the cinematography but the meaning of the film What a memorable day! My first Festival but definitely not my last! Thanks, Film Noir Foundation. Anne 🎥
I saw Nightmare Alley as well. Didn't see Eddie outside of his intro. Would like to meet him someday... I've been going to Noir City Hollywood since the first one. The old Egyptian was better.
@@ScottsCollection Eddie Muller was in the Egyptian's lobby, by the old film posters & book table, after the movie. He could sign books. If you attend the TCM Festivals, do you know if there are seats for non-pass holders? The film Noirs at this Fest looks good, but do many people attend? I must take Metrolink from far away & don't want to not get a ticket. I'm going Sat for Night Has a Thousand Eyes 9am Egyptian Theater.
@@ameryek.9607 I exited the theater door right next to that table. He must not have been there at that time. I didn't see him, and took off... For TCM Festival, for non pass holders, it's a stand by basis. People show up, get in the stand by line, and if seats available, it's 20 dollars cash. No guarantee to get in, but I heard good chance if it's not a high profile screening.
Welcome! 1) The Maltese Falcon 2) Double Indemnity 3) This Gun for Hire 4) The Big Sleep 5) Nightmare Alley 1947. These will get you started off well. Then go on from there with actors, directors, writers, plots you like. 😏
So many television shows would be better as 90-minute films. There are certainly exceptions, but it sure seems like a lot of great stories are being drawn out into something as tedious as streaming shows. But So many two and three-hour films would be better as 90-minute films.
Hello, Does anybody know if there are usually seats at TCM Festival Hollywood for non- passport holders? These cost $350 for cheapest! I must come from across LA County & don't wish to miss the noir showings. Any info is appreciated!😊
Payback is a textbook example of studio interference. The directors cut, featuring Angie Dickenson, has almost an entirely different feel and completely different third act

Had a great time at noir city Hollywood. I posted a video of my experience. Looking forward to TCMFF!!
Some episodes of Suspicion, Kraft Theater, and Thriller are good one-off noirs!
I heartily concur !
Yes -- got a shout out to Columbo watch group!
Noir on tv? Try The Gray Rock Hotel. It’s an episode of Rawhide. Really! It’s fabulous and Lola Albright’s amazing.
Indubitably! You had me at Lola Albright....hubba hubba!

But didn't he recover from his injuries, serve time, go to law school & eventually get elected Los Angeles District Attorney?
@@jubalcalif9100 Correct, even though he seemed to lose every case, he was still miles ahead of LA's current district attorney.
@@Jerryjohnson-i4g He lost only the cases they show on TV.

I'm new to film noir. What are a couple of films I should watch first?
Out of the Past is a great film to start with. Double Idemnity is another and Laura is great
Asphalt Jungle.

Detour is short and sweet textbook noir.
@@Sam-lm8gi That's the BEST one to start with.
Cameron Mitchell was in "Dixie Ray Hollywood Star"
So far as adult films with noir elements…Corruption starring Jamie Gillis is noir-ish at times.
