    As you can clearly see So Hyang puts everything into her performance. You can feel her soul. I wish more singers would do that these days.

    She's really got the guts, pride or confidence with which she gets more aggressive and formidable in the harder songs to sing. She rather sing with ease a song not that hard without a big twist on her own.

    Some might question the arrangement of this great song by our eternal diva, Whitney. However, I believe Sohyang paid tribute to Whitney in her own unique style. She deserves it, and at least for now, her song might be the best we can hear. Thank you for introducing me to the lovely Sohyang..

    she's unbelievably good -- imagine being that flawless while performing live -- please react to her Begin Again performance of the jazz classic Misty and her cover of the Alicia Keys song If I Aint Got You. Also her 2023 performance of Easy On Me.

    김소향 (Kim, So-hyang) is a South Korean singer who uses 소향 (Sohyang) as her stage name. She's up there with Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Céline Dion, according to David Foster, who worked with all of them, plus other big names in the music industry, such as Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson. In fact, many vocal coaches and critics call her the Queen, and Dimash the King.
    Here are several links to excellent performances by Sohyang. Many are from competitions where she pulls out all the stops and goes into vocal beast mode. The last 5 are more restrained. You can alternate between the styles, just to experience the contrasts and see her range of abilities. All are live, except for a music video of "Never Enough" (since we can never get enough of Sohyang).

    BTW, Whitney's former manager saw the DMC Festival video of Sohyang singing "I Have Nothing", and contacted Oprah Winfrey, who in turn, contacted David Foster. They were all amazed. Foster invited Sohyang to sing on his tour in Asia. She did 8 shows in 4 days in Tokyo. He and his ex-wife wrote that song. He co-arranged and produced it for Whitney for her album, and her performance in "The Bodyguard". Foster has won 16 Grammy Awards, including 3 for Producer of the Year, and has been nominated a total of 47 times.
    ---
    Her full name is "김소향 (Kim, So-hyang)", but she leaves out her surname in her stage name, "소향 (Sohyang)". Here's the breakdown of the Hangul symbols in her full name:
    김소향 (Kim, So-hyang)
    김 = ㄱ ㅣ ㅁ (k i m)
    소 = ㅅ ㅗ (s o)
    향 = ㅎ ㅑ ㅇ (h ya ng)
    Google Translate in Detect Language mode pronounces them decently. However, the proper pronunciation of her stage name can be heard before the start of her Immortal Songs 2 performance of "Bridge Over Troubled Water", when the host introduces her as "SOH hee-yahng". The "hee" part is very quick and subtle, almost like a puff of air after the "h" sound carried over from the stressed "SOH" syllable. Note that the "ahng" sound uses the first and last phonemes (syllable components) of "awe" and "song", respectively; it isn't "uhng" or "ohng" as too many non-Korean folks claim.

      @oahuhawaii2141 a quick look though, I couldn't find anything special that annoyed me. lol.
      1stly, I have to thank you for respecting the culture of fronting the last name in Korea. 2ndly, SH's never enough was supposed to be recorded I conjecture. Even though she is already a full-packaged singer, she's been jealous of thick and low voiced ones as opposed to her. Lol So she might need 2 more of her surrounding main her. The live was impossible. The song itself is so easy for her to sing as you know. Effortlessly to be dealt with.
      Lastly, her repertoire is tremendous.
      Quite a few of hers were delivered to some of the population globally. Dust-covered songs forsaken or unheard are so many. If you want, I'll point out only a few each time. I'm leaving.

    향은 이날 이 무대에서 푸른 옷을 입고 두곡을 불렀죠,
    Dream,(꿈)
    I have nothing.
    그녀는이 무대에서 당당히 1위를 차지하게 되었고 트로피를 받았읍니다,,
    Dream 반응 해보세요 ,
    그녀가 작자 작곡 한걸로 알고 있읍니다,
    이 곡 (Dream) 또한 무대를 찢어 놓았고 하늘을 뚫었읍니다,,

    I actually liked this version better than Whitney. She is best female voice out there.
    Her range is incredible, and her delivery is exceptional. I put her in the same league as
    Dimash. They were compared quite a bit. Her best is ' Everyone' and " Lean on Me".

    Rewind as much as you like. I, for one, prefer hearing the amazing parts again, and this is my personal favorite performance. I"ve watched it at least two hundred times. You said 'they' added things. Nope. Sohyang does all of the arrangements for her stage appearances. She does the musical arrangement, and with a small team, she also does the arrangements for the chorus, orchestra, staging and lighting. What you are seeing and hearing is all Sohyang. By the way, her name is difficult for Westerners, but I heard her say it in an interview, and it is "so yong".
    Cheers.

      In Korean, the consonant H should sound clear. Please refer to some MC's addressing her name articulated in TV shows. Not correct "so yong".
      The closest is [zo heeyaang]

      @@kc3zt6jc7o Perhaps you missed the fact that I watched the latest interview show where she sang the "Star Spangled Banner" for the group. I went back and watched it again. SHE introduced herself as 'soyong'. Look it up. I understand your technical explanation about the "H", you've jumped me about this before, but if Sohyang herself pronounces it that way, I'm going to go with her. Period. Maybe you should take it up with Sohyang herself - that would be interesting. Get a life.

      @daveg.6820 Interesting. In fact, I'm a Korean native. Lol. You bettet trust me. H must sound strong. Look it up then from the "bridge over troubled water" clip. Go find out how the MC pronounced it. Heeyang should be pronounced so quick and blended

      @@kc3zt6jc7o What? I get the "H" thing. Sohyang is her stage name. If she pronounces it as I described, that's HER choice. She may be Westernizing it deliberately for her YT audiences. Send her a message scolding her about not using proper Korean grammar. You have an obsession about this "H" and need help. I will continue to quote the lady herself.
      I just listened to her introduction again. Actually she said [sue yong]. But, don't believe me - go listen for yourself. Then leave me alone. Thanks.

      @daveg.6820 OK. I was actually surprised to have found lots of foreign people were pronouncing her name correct. But I don't care if most of people go incorrect. English is not perfect to match with Korean.
      The point is that I'm sure you will get the right pronunciation of it soon.
      Please admit that I was right then.
      Bye do it as you want for now.
