I have a question on setting up sprinklers system, looking for informed feedback and experience.
I understand a pressure vacuum breaker is required (not the hose bub one - but the ones rated for working under constant pressure).
Now, an idea, maybe will work in theory imo, how about installing a valveon the initial point of connection followed by the cheap hose bib vacuum breaker? The cost of the valve + hose bib breaker is way cheaper, obviously this valve on the main line would open before any scheduled zones and close afterwards, this way it wouldn’t be under constant pressure.
Appreciate any thoughts.
It’s called a Master Valve and it has been done in the past. If you are doing it strictly for cost savings I understand it, but I would save a bit more and get the more robust brass PVB..Long term reliability.
If you use Anti siphon valves as your scheduled valves this is a moot point. Only if you use In Line valves. Don’t forget a shut valve and winterizing blow out connection.
No short cuts and abide by local codes.
