“I don’t need every plant to live in my house, but I like to say hi.” Words to live by 💕
Buenos Dias Chulita I want to thank you for being a peaceful place to hang out on YT. I often check out clearance plants but you have me taking second looks! Blessed day
Thank you so much for being here 🥹 happy you are a part of the family here
I love that you normalize the idea of not buying everything in order to be happy. You are such a breath of fresh air ❤️
Thank you so so much!!!!! Just being around the plants and taking a walk around is just as good.
Your lack of a successful haul makes it much more relatable…but it never keeps us from trying.
You’re hilarious❤️
I also really love that you were so respectful at the stores, and you try not to include others in the background of your videos. Very kind and considerate of other customers privacy
I don't care if you buy plants or not Krystal...I just like hanging out with you - are sooo funny and I love to see the plants that you rescue...I know you can't save them all...but I will say that I am that person who picks up all the fallen leaves, the broken stems, the litttle 'bits' that are to be swept up...and I take them home and rescue them...free plants!!!
“Don’t want every plant in my house, just wanna visit and say hi ya know?” Love that quote hahahaha
I ❤ a girlfriend that will drive me all around to shop and not buy anything. As for your embarrassment, You’re helping your plant peeps and doing Gods work you should never be embarrassed of doing a good thing. We ❤ you❤
I rarely buy plant supplies like pots or trays from big-box stores because I can usually find them 10x cheaper at a thrift store! Unless I'm looking for something very specific, thrift shopping for plant supplies makes the hobby more affordable. 😊
Good idea
I’m usually dissatisfied with our local Home Depot too, they make soil soup constantly..and the pots around my area are so basic , there’s no pretty cactus pots for my beefs etc
Thanks for pushing past your shy limits for us!!!
I use my nurseries to soften my anxiety when having a rough day, I’ll force myself out and tour around looking at plants. Doesn’t mean I’ll buy anything but just getting out and surrounding myself in green foliage helps calm my anxiety
I was surprised my Home Depot had some nice orchid pots. Usually, I have to order them from Amazon.
FYI BECAUSE KRYSTAL CHANGED MY LIFE WHEN SHE TAUGHT ME THIS LAST YEAR....Anyone that missed that part, if you have a pot without drainage you can use a diamond masonry bit to drill them. I bought one and just use my impact driver. You have to keep the piece submerged in water while you do it or it can crack though! Keep the spot you're drilling wet continuously throughout so submerge or keep stopping and rewetting the dent/hole😂
Another tip-if you keep a plant in the nursery pot, you can just pull it out of the cover pot to water it, and/or bottom water it, and put it back. (My favorite method because it’s much easier to repot out of a nursery pot than a cute ceramic or clay pot that you may have to destroy to get the plant out)
They also sell hole drill bits, specifically-same concept, too, just able to drill bigger holes. Love it for my succulent arrangements.😄
And ya’ll, get some mesh liners to hold your soil in, too.👌🏾
@@9622paige Yes!!! I saw this tip somewhere and was like "That would have been a nice thought before I went and bought a soldering iron"..but the soldering iron was maybe $12 and it's super quick. My parfait cups stand no chance.xD
I think I saw somewhere on here that you can use just a screw driver and a hammer to make holes, but I am not that brave and I don't want to break $xx.xx in pots trying to see if I can do it when I already have a drill that costs less.😅
@@9622paige Oh hush--lies and deceit.😆 You are not dumb. The internet is cool because random people remind us of or give us perspective on various things. Using a screwdriver is brilliant.^^
Krystal I love getting to know your personality through these videos. Your humor, authenticity and appreciation for plants I love. Thank you for sharing. ❤
I love that last part about it’s not always about buying. Sometimes it’s just about visiting and saying hi. Walking through nurseries is one of my favorite things. The smell of the the soil and all the plants🥰🥰… it’s heaven.
I always go to big box stores just for plants lol.
If there’s plants there, I’m buying them! 😂
I'm enjoying your longer videos. I agree, it's just nice to look at the plants.
Thank you so much! It’s been a lot of fun!
I'm so jealous of everyone else's Lowes, the plants at mine haven't changed in weeks and they never put anything on clearance! It's better for my bank account lol, but still! Thank you for the long form video, this was a good way to start the day! 🧡
Not sure where you live. I’m in western pa. The new ones are coming in slowly. One of my local Lowe’s, everything must be left over from last year. I like to buy the little $5.xx starters. 90% are half dead. The rest are 3 times normal size. But a good deal since they are $5.xx. I left one day last week and the plant truck was making a delivery. I went in the next day and all the dead plants were gone and new ones arrived. If something is not on the clearance rack but still looks half dead don’t be afraid to ask for a discount. That’s what I’ve been doing. Got an ivy last night half off because I asked the plant guy standing there if he could discount it.
@@Tiffaloni I'm in NW Arkansas, hopefully we'll get a new shipment in too and the old ones will be put on clearance. I'll definitely try asking for discounts on the sad ones though if they don't, thanks for the info! ♥️
Krystal you make me strive to be a better plant parent. This was a nice hang out with you. I thought we were going to get a haul reveal at the end, but I’m so proud of you! That Bird of paradise would’ve been mine 😂
Omgoodness another longer video!? Yassss!
I promised more videos and I keep my promises 🫶🏽😂
Home Depot is the best, they let me take plants from the trash lol. They also take the best care of them at least at our location, and I cave met the caretaker and seems good with plants.
I love you taking us out and about, giving us your feedback on plants, what to look for, what to watch out for. I've been "doing" plants for almost 5 years and I learn something every time you do these videos!!!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Your Wal-Mart has WAAAAY better plants than mine. You are so lucky. Better luck next time. It's the thrill of the hunt sometimes. 😆 thanks for taking us along. Have an awesome weekend amiga!!!
Thanks for taking us plant browsing!
I never find good plants at home depot, but Lowes is always a winner
Your videos encourage me to keep posting even if it makes me nervous and I feel like my content isn't "good enough" because you're just yourself. Thanks for sharing that you have to hype yourself up too ❤
Love that mindset of enjoying the experience of seeing the plants without necessarily having to buy them all 😊
My rule is "no more than you can carry". If I need a basket or a cart, I'm probably going overboard. When my hands start to get full I'm a lot more likely to say no! Sometimes you just gotta trick your brain into thinking "we have enough."
Loved walking around and looking at all the plants with you! That was awesome! Please do more of these videos! So awesome!!🤩
As a brit, I am in love with the huge scale of the plant section. My local B&M cannot compare to the size of your houseplant section and it leaves me in awe/envy haha
What?? A Krystal planty video on a Friday?! 🙌🏼 sooo I’m at work 🤐 Here with you watching now- Yay!!! Plants!!!
Yay!!!! Thank you so much!!!! Happy Friday!!!!
You are right the first store was sad❤
Im hopeful it’ll be better closer to spring 😥
WE LOVE KRYSTAL OUT IN THE WILD!!!
I love getting to go to the store with no plans to buy anything and no time achedule or expectations placed me or my time. I haven't had a day out like that in a very long. I have an elementary age child and an infant. My days are 100% scheduled, reimented, and full of the expectations of others. Thanks for letting me sneak out to see some plants and sushi with you ❤❤❤
Krystal, me gustan mucho tus videos, eres un rayito de sol para muchos de nosotros 😊💛💚
Espero que estés bien y la vida te siga trayendo experiencias bonitas (como todo lo que le das a las plantas que cuidas y salvas) 💖
Youre one of my ✨️ FAVORITE ✨️ plant people lol thank you for being unapologetically you , i love your energy when it comes to plants and ive been following for a couple years now
Youre one of the main reasons i started buying plants and even just looking at them makes me happy, you gave me confidence to grow my plant collection , i have over 10 plants now and i want more lol
Thank you again 💓 also i love that youre feeling more comfy recording, i cant wait to see how much growth youll have in the future making videos
(Puns intended lol)
Currently in Ontario Canada our stores still have the very bare minimum. I actually went to Home Depot today & was shocked to find alot of their plants had white buggies or rust. I am so excited for Spring! Bring on the new plant babies 💚❤💚
if i let myself look at plants when i'm out shopping, i try to go in with a list of plants i've researched that would suit my lighting options and look easy to care for. a few of the plants you named i've killed in the past, but some i've rescued! I try to only buy from a local nursery so they're usually in good shape (and expensive, which also limits what i buy because i don't want to spend too much!) it's the pots that are the most expensive parts of plant parenthood!
Hey, fun fact! Home Depot terra cotta is actually coated concrete so the pots will not breathe the way you want terra cotta to. Lowes sells real terra cotta.
I totally relate with the soothing feeling you get when you just walk around your local nursery even if you don’t buy anything 🌱
I love your videos!! Thank you for all your positivity.
Your Walmart is soooooo much better than mine. Mine has had the same boring three pots forever 😞😞😞
Glad I’m not the only one that has a Lowes or Home Depot that looks like that…yours actually had way more than mine ever does …it makes me sad to watch all of these awesome planty hauls because I’m thinking what the heck?!? Lol. Have an AH-MAZING day!! Hugs from Arkansas!❤
I just got a Pink Princess from Walmart a few weeks ago! The ones they had didn't look nearly as nice as what you showed, but I love pink and have made it my mission to get as many pink plants as possible. Right now she's in a pink pot that *also* came from Walmart, and I just love it so much! 😍
Oooh, goals
I decided to go on etsy and bought a 2 plants so ye! I know that's a bit random though I like watching these types of videos because it feels like I'm actually there! And thank you for making this video also brightened my day! Hoping to buy more plants this month. Stay safe everyone!
Thank you so much for watching 🥹 happy you enjoyed too!
The gray small alocasia is 'Melo" also known as Rhino Skin. As dismal as you think your shopping options are, mine are far worse. I am 55 miles away from any big box stores and they are almost always disappointing when I do get to shop them.
Please keep your eyes out for a trailing plant with plain green heart-shaped leaves (about 1 to 1.25" across). It's a soft stemmed plant like an impatiens, with alternating leaves. The newest leaves are very small. I saw it at Walmart (hanging basket, Exotic Angel) but there was no ID tag. I'm just struggling to get an ID for it since I've never seen it before (and I've been gardening for many decades). It's fairly plain but I can't stop thinking about it. I really enjoy your videos.
Oh, I just found out the name of the plant with heart shaped leaves! It's a Peperomia serpens and is a tree climber in the wild.
You can't tell you're nervous at all. It's good to see what other stores in other regions have. It's pretty surprising some of the differences in pricing and lije you showed, the quality of the plants. Where I live, it can get pricey unless you know where to find the deals. You did great today. I hope you do this more often Crystal. It was fun!
Oh wow! I’ll definitely be checking out Walmart! ❤Thx for hanging out with us! ☺️
Thank you for being here 🥹🫶🏽
Hi from Argentina! Love your videos and the chill channel to hang out talking about plants
So relatable. Box store plants around me are unimpressive too. Love your videos and shorts!❤
Saw your Google ad you did a while ago I was so shocked to see u haha hope ur doing well!
Awww yay!!!! Thank you so much! Doing well! Hope you’re doing amazingly well too!
I became friends with my local walmart gardner employee and she lets me get first pick of the "to be marked as clearance" section 🥰 I do have to hold myself back from buying so many rescue plants (walmart has A LOT) and I leave some really good ones behind for other people to find!
Thank you for taking us along. You can find some great planters at thrift stores. There's not always what you look for. But if you visit them regularly then you will find something.❣️🌱🌵
My Home Depot gets some plants from a local nursery recently and the plants are BEAUTIFUL and affordable! I got a nice baby string of pearls for $6!
I’m so spoiled here in Florida. The inside greenhouse has just houseplants and little succies but the outside greenhouse has rows and rows of plants.
I love this!!! I want to see more plant shopping moments! 🩷🩷🩷
Hello I love your videos
You make my mood better with your funny videos
Thank you so much!!!!!! Happy you’re here!
@@PlantswithKrystal I wish I would have many houseplants as you do
It’s nice to see other store’s garden center’s in other states. It also good that the lights are on at your Home Depot. For some reason, the Home Depot in my town keeps the lights off in t he garden center. I have gone on many different days and for months it’s dark. It’s so dark, I have to get my phone flashlight to even see the plants. I will say we had some good plants at first but as time goes on, they look worse and worse. Still fun to go though!
I loved watching you go to the store and do videos and eat foods that are different keep up the good see hard work
Watching on my break at work hehe 🎉
I got a birkin from HD. It was doing rough and way overcrowded. When I divided it up there was three babies in there. One I’m not sure what it is going to be but there were two of what I’m guessing are Prince of Oranges. All the babies and the birkin are thriving!
Love this. I always love going even when I don’t but plants which is majority of the time
I love Lowes' clearance racks, or as I call it, "the tryin' to die rack".
I freaking love you !!!! You are just so genuinely a good person . It is so contagious to see you smile . Abrazos
Your local nursery is so cool and organized!!!
I got to learn on what types of pots are out there from this trip. I hardly leave my home. Major introvert lately. I appreciate and thank you for stepping out. You give me courage.
I look forward to seeing your videos. They just make my day! Love your sense of humor! I got so excited when I saw this video pop up in my feed 😃🤗❤
I love to go to shops where they sell plants. I rescued so many plants already as well 🌱😉
I bought a philodendron brasil from HD last week that has a long pothos vine growing out of the basket.?!? I figure maybe it was haphazardly thrown together but it looks healthy so it’s mine now. ❤️
Girl! I love plant shopping w you! Your extremely delightful and peaceful and funny personality is why I watch you. Also the knowledge you give! But if you weren’t so cool, I wouldn’t watch. Much love!!! 🪴
I’ll absolutely have to do more of these shopping with me 🥹 thank you so so much for being here and your kindness!
I just started my plant journey and I thought it was me not finding anything at Home Depot. I'm loving your channel already!
Thank you so much!!!! Happy you’re here!
Love it. I can't wait to see what they have at our stores.
I went to the grocery store yesterday they had about 20 large shell gingers. I flipped a leaf, as one does, and thrips 😱 everywhere. I wanted to burn my clothes before going home. I didn't but I'm hoping i don't regret it.
Thanks for taking us plant shopping. I have a small brasil but been looking for a big lush basket of it.
I LOVE the foliage of calatheas but will NOT waste my money bc I can't keep them happy.
When you showed the terracotta pots I found a bunch of the small ones with the little lip on the edge and they didn't have a drain hole so they were super cheap.(49/each) so I snagged a bunch for my hoya babes.
I do this too! My nieces won't go with me to the store because I always end up in the garden center 😅
I’m so jealous that your local nursery has Pings! I’ve looked at all the nurseries in my area of California and none of them had them or were planning on stocking them
Girl you are doing it! 👏 🙌 I get overwhelmed sometimes and just need to take a browse in a plant or crystal store and I like how u said they don't need to all live in my home but I can go visit them 😌😌💜💜love it thanks for great tips on succulent pots, recently got me some buddies that need repotting! 🤗🤗sending you good energy ✨️ ✨️
LOVE LOVE LOVE the long videos!! The longer the better(that's what she said).... Seriously though, you don't even need to edit. You're personally carries the videos so great!!!🪴🪴🪴
Nevertheless Krystal you are a joy to watch 😊 possibly because we have the same sense of humour 😆 much love from the the UK xx
I busted out laughing when you made that face at 2:25 😩😩 cause I was over here making the SAME face 😹😹 Home Depot FAILS as usual in regards to plants. But WOW you just added Home Depot back to my list JUST for their planter selection🤩🤩🤩🤩 thank you for sharing!
I love how relaxing your videos are!!! ❤
If you have a dollar tree, perhaps you could do a pot/planter video of their items? They’ve been stepping it up and I feel this year is their best.
My best rescue was a very sad Monstera at Ikea, she was sitting there, one half green leaf, the other was dead already and she was drowning... I got her for free in the end because the employee was about to throw her in the dumpster.
She has 12 beautyful leafs now and gave me 3 baby propagations already 😂
It's definitely off season here in central NY,at our Lowe's and Home Depot. Shocked that Walmart was the best. They are always the worst here 😔. Great video 🤩😍🥰.
I bought a £7 plant from a big DIY store and a £2 plant from a family owned nursery about a month ago. Guess which one turned out to have spider mites 🙃
The DIY store one
I enjoy your videos and enjoy learning about plants . You’re such a breath of fresh air. Now I’m going to look into my nearest nursery as well. I’m excited about spring and purchasing new plats. ❤
I love your energy sooo much. Please never stop doing videos
Every time I go to Walmart alone I love to check out the plants. I very rarely buy them.
Your Lowe’s looks like mine! I swear mine sucks. 😂 My daughter is in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and she found a Cuprea and a Jacklyn a couple of weeks ago at her Walmart. The best plant I ever found was a Monstera Peru last year around this time. I haven’t taken home any plants lately. Although, my husband was very thoughtful when he went to Lowe’s the other day…he came home with a couple hyacinths that I repotted and put on my little bistro on our front porch area next to my bridal veil. Smells wonderful, it just flowered a couple of days ago!
I may go buy a bunch of Venus fly traps and pot them up all together. I typically save VFT’s…you can find different varieties. Those pinguiculas were a great size!
I found a single burros tail at my home depot after seeing your video about it. I FOUND THE BEANS. 😂
When you got the cart i said UHOH! She"s Doing It!! 🤭😄
Love you ❤. Enjoy your channel
Love, you are such an elemental its amazing. ❤
If I ran into you anywhere I would be extremely thrilled do not be shy or embarrassed at all you are doing good things that make people happy be yourself you making yourself happy and you're making everybody watching these videos happy as well your happiness is contagious thank you for these videos I am in a wheelchair and I don't leave my house very often it's nice to be able to see these things
Thank you! I loved this one cos it helped reaffirm my current conviction - you can wander through a nursery/plant store for foliage therapy rather than plant purchase. I get my fill and then go home and tend to the 100+ plants I already have 👍🏼🥰
Krystal, you are so adorable! thanks for sharing and taking us on your little outing and self care....eating your little sushi, I see you girl! the Japanese people would be like "were are your chopsticks', but no judgement from me, you are too sweet. Thank you for teaching me a thing or two about caring for the "babies".
I went to Lowe’s yesterday to see what they have. I didn’t see any good rescue plants. I saw a dark green colored diffenbachia that I liked but I didn’t buy it. I think the sale said 60% off if you buy online. I wish my Walmart had the chores, I would be too excited.
I can usually ignore the houseplants, over here far too many come with unwanted hitchhikers and I won't risk bringing in anything that might harm my orchids - it's far too easy for them to get in anyway, without me encouraging them! The garden plant sections are another thing entirely though... This morning I went to my local garden centre to get some greenhouse fixing clips. The way in through a covered section that contains whatever is current, spring bulbs at the moment. I can't say I wasn't tempted by some named varieties of snowdrops and erythroniums (but not dens canis or I would have picked up at least one), and I did fall for a gorgeous, very strong and healthy pink and cream single hellebore, but I made my way through there otherwise unscathed - and basketless. Then I made the mistake of just having a wander through the garden plants. Usually there is nothing to interest me, prices are high and it's part of a chain so mostly stocks the most popular things - I prefer nurseries, but they are very dangerous to my bank balance - but on my way back to the indoor section where all the greenhouse bits and bobs are on sale I was suddenly confronted by a table fill with big pots of perennials for £3 each. I picked up a Nepeta Six Hills Giant that I'd been fancying for ages (not that it will be giant if the local cats get nibbling on it!) and then an Iris ensata, at which point I ran out of hands. There were no baskets visible, but there were some trolleys. Oh dear. At one point I thought I might need a bigger trolley but I managed to restrain myself and realised I'd left just enough room for one more plant, so I returned to pick up the hellebore I saw on my way in. I didn't forget the greenhouse clips, added a seed tray that was a bit deeper and narrower and considerably more substantial than usual type and that I thought would be perfect for a Bulbophyllum Elizabeth Ann 'Buckleberry' that's having in my kitchen window and has outgrown its terracotta tray. It remained only for me to negotiate the houseplant section, and I can't pretend I wouldn't have liked to bring home a couple of things I saw, but unwelcome signs under the leaves of one of them decided me against it. I'd been intending to go to a clematis nursery that was having an open weekend at where I might have been able to pick up some bargains but as I still need to eat next week I thought that probably wasn't a good idea... Although I have bread in the freezer and there is no shortage of water, and I could do with losing a few pounds (rather than £s!)
LOVED shopping plants with you today! It was so soothing, Krystal! Thanks for taking us along!
I’m this had me looking at the pots in Walmart and they have cute inexpensive pots.
I looooove your shorts! ♥️🤗 But I don’t know if I love them as much as your long content.. 👀🤩
I moved away from that area earlier this year and going to Bennett's and wandering around was one of my favorite things to do on my days off, so thank you for taking us along! I miss living there!!
