Sensei Seth reflects the true budo warrior creed: have dogi will travel! He is a great martial artist and person. Thank you for sharing your time with us! You ROCK🔥
Even though I'm just a judo practitioner, watching these videos makes me think about how wonderful true dedication to martial arts is, no matter which one.
Right? I watched that sumo mini-series on Netflix and was aching to train again.
Kyokushin was my very first martial art I practiced back in the 1980s. Very tough. It's probably one of my favourite videos on this channel. Thanks so much Seth. Great stuff.
Awesome video. The only issue i had transitioning to Muay Thai was blocking punches to the face. You can see the kicks coming (for the most part) much easier than a fist. I was getting punch drunk for about the first 4 months when i switched. On the flip side, everyone i trained with commented on the power of my kicks, which i quickly credited to my Kyokushin training. OSU !
@@TheTarotCardGuy glad you learned to have a higher guard
This was my style of Karate (for 12 years) before getting a back injury at work and then 10 months later a car accident; that was 24 years ago now. Only just started back in Karate recently but having to go a LOT easier now with my injuries and my age (almost 60).
I miss my buddy's kyokushin school. They did open sparring nights twice a week. I took my taiji and xingyi and played with them for years. So much fun, though painful.
Kyokushin also has a massive rivalry with muay thai, goes back a ways.
...not really, a lot of kyokushin-kay comes or will go to muay thai/boxing, me included - 3 years kyokushin, 1 muay thay, 6 months box, back to kyokushin ; my sensei ( osu ! ) went to muay thai after the closing of the dojo !
@@dmorfeus3910 then ask your sensei about the rivalry, there has been tourneys against thai guys since oyama's days ruclips.net/video/jyPRx-Ep_kc/видео.html
KYOKUSHIN in Japanese means "Ultimate Truth" Not an end result, but a neverending path to the point where dedication, perseverance and sweat meets strength, humility and wisdom.
Seth did really well here, probably the best he's looked. He's a legit fighter and could probably hang with some decent level pros in Kickboxing and MMA.
this has been one of the coolest ones. going there because you saw a video of those two sparing and then getting to spar them and interview them must have been sick.
Sensei Seth needs to do the 100 Man Kumite to prove his Karate skills.
It's almost time for my yearly 100 kumite again, both dreading and looking forward to it.
I wanna do one! At least once in my lifetime.
@@joostfloot5279yea right… people that do 100 man kumite’s post that shit up, it’s very rare….
Maybe start with 10, then 20 etc 😅
No-one jumps straight into a 100 man kumite
@@alpachinko9154 I'd do it XD
But I'm also slightly crazy
This is exactly the same as my Goju ryu club, same methods and outdoor training. Same intensity. We have more throws and grappling elements but I'm loving this video, bringing back so many memories and great to see other clubs doing this, Osu
This is so cool to see, kyokushin is such a fascinating version of karate and you put together such a nice little documentary here. Thanks for all the footage and great questions asked!
This video is awesome. I couldnt stop getting up in the middle of it because i couldnt sit still watching such amazing spars!
SENSEI SETH!!! You were in my neighborhood and I didn't get to meet you. I'm literally crying. 😭
I'm not kidding, I'm a huge fan, been a fan for years, watched all your videos, tell random strangers to check out your RUclips channel... And you were here, and I didn't get to meet you.
😢
@karilacrosse5011 maybe in the future bro don't give up hope 😎
Osu! well done, thank you for promoting Kyokushin. Your efforts for all martial arts is commendable. Kudos and OSU!
Watching the first seconds of the video...quoting Ramsey Dewey: "What's with cults and their white robs" 😂😂😂
In on honesty I respect Kyokushin Karate
Well, Ramsey Dewey is part of Mormonism, the most ridiculous sect of Christianity there is. I don't think he really is in any position of educating about cults😂

This looks so awesome! One of the best styles I ever did, still has a soft spot in my heart!
babe wake up, sensei seth has uploaded a new video
I'm up!!!!
no and go make me a sandwich
This is where I trained! Fantastic to see them get featured like this, and wonderful to see you get a taste of our training!
Seth: This is one of your all time best videos. I love Kyokushin and your treatment of this was great. You also showed that you are equipped to engage with hard-core karate.
Man love this video !! Even though I don’t practice kyokushin I practice shotokan …but this interaction was something special!! You are the man sensei Seth !!
I agree, Kyokushin is a life style and a mind set. I had a small class but everyone lived and breathed Kyokushin. We had an amazing teacher too. I ended up having to chose between it and another sport I like sadly but I will never forget that class and the people in it
Well done Sensei Seth. I got my Shodan in Kyokushin at the young old age of 46 last summer… never too old
OSU
Wow! Finally did it man. Good stuff. Kyokushen Karate and WuShu Sanda. Two of the coolest martial arts.
Now you need to find a way to learn Shaolin!!!!!
Thar history segment was a wonder of editing. You must have taken a lot of care to get that right. Thanks, Seth, great video as usual :)
Im super impressed by how organized this training camp was, with the consistantly high quality and well rounded inatruction. Being able to question so many people was slick.
At 17:34 the blonde woman who’s sparring does the same technique that she is teaching at 6:40. She pulled it off in a full contact full speed sparring match. Some people might assume it’s a Muay Thai technique but it shows the power and brutality any martial art can have if properly applied
7:57 Icy Mike's lost twin brother with purple belt.
THIS is a truly great video, Seth. Super well done on production value, substance and verity. Not to mention, the school looks GREAT as well. Those guys (and gals) are class acts and the school does seem to embody the philosophies of old style karate based martial arts nigh perfectly.
holy shit the phoenix way
i’m subscribed to these guys :)
My friend is a 6 time golden glove boxer & 4th dan old school TKD black belt. He used this knowledge to fight a 7th dan kyokushin karate guy and he told me that Kyokushin karate had amazing pain threshold. My friend had huge advantage in distance because of his Taekwondo speed with boxing footwork mix but come close range they can go toe to toe for body shots. My friend won the fight after landing 6 liver shots other than that no punches were affecting the karate guy.
Creed of kyokushin-fight: you WILL get hit. It WILL hurt. You hit and hurt them harder.
@@vksasdgaming9472 That's really the mantra of Kyokushin Karate. Luckily my friend's punches are stronger & more fluid combos than that of Karate but he told me that Karate hands are faster
@VladimirMiyazaki a amazing boxer mixes witn tkd , you call him a kickboxer.😎
@@crisalcantara7671 Yeah... Kinda right!!! Fast hands & fast kicks
Glad he won. Kyokushin is terrible. Not a style to hon your fighting skills. All ego no practicality.
Kyokushin and muay thai are both examples of "respect the style where eating full power strikes without flinching" is a part of their basic requirements
Combining both of them will create 🔥
@@jlogan2228 truth is you get that tough in martial arts in general. Not helpful to focus on that aspect. Which is why Kyokushin doesn't produce the best fighters. Sure they may do well in the ring but it's not legit.
Good for you, Seth! My teacher's teacher had a black belt under Mas Oyama.
This is one of the best videos you've done. there was a smoothness and ease that is very different than yo0ur earliest videos. keep up the good work.
NGL, this looked like a LOT of fun.
That is one of best videos I have seen in a long time I gained my 4th in old style TKD before they turn it in to a sport it was refreshing to see
To those who might be wondering.
The training is the same even if there aren't any cameras. They didn't "fake" anything just to make the video entertaining, this IS how kyokushin training is
My dojo never turned down anyone above the age of 5. We have had guests from shotokan, different kyokushin organizations, kick boxing, judo. We love guests and if they want to train hard with us. Women are brutal in kyokushin. Hats off to you for stepping up.
You don’t know how long have I waited for this video to be made
Thank you for this documentary
Also thank you to this school for letting him make this. You are all great people.
I trained in Kyokushin in Sydney until my instructor passed last year (I also had time off due to an injury - not Karate based ) - loved it. Was great physically and really pushed fitness level. And the comps are brilliant - never had the chance to attend a senior belt camp (4th belt and above), but heard they really bound the glass together and really pushed them hard.
Now with the sparing - try doing the 100 man fight. Take what you did -each fight full on. 3 minutes x 100 - it goes for about 5 hrs total - none stop
What a great guest you are Seth. You could have gone full contact on those girls in order to prove your style but you kept it under control and respected them and their dojo. Really well done.👍
My pap and dad are black belts in Kyokushin karate. It’s a great martial art for building toughness and skill. The kicks are powerful and the conditioning training is insane.

Shihan Cathy Melanson: "when the hard things hit us and knock us down, we rise again."

It's such a precious martial art. Karate truly helps you overcome the toughest challenges in your life.
All respect and love for the Kyokushin community 🙏 Oss! 🥋

Quite easily, one of the best videos on this channel!!
The gui in a lake is cursed as hell
It's more like blursed, like some masters in Karate claim that training or meditating in cold water helps them with ther focus and endurance, also training underwater gives you strength and speed, but yeah a soggy gi is something that feels weird, so... atleast they kinda look cool while doing it
Are you really a martial artist if your belt and gui isnt well seasoned? xD
OSU! ain't nothing quite like full-contact, glad u gave it a try! been doing Ashihara (a Kyokushin descendant) for nearly 20yr, and it's been a wild ride!
Just saw what I exactly wanted to watch after opening RUclips.
What's great about this is how much it can help with sumo. Pain is such a regular part of the daily regimen as a Rikishi Kyokushin can help in building that toughness and mental fortitude.
osu! thanks for coming!
I have also been practicing kyokushin karate since I was 7 years old (I’m 17 now). It’s so nice to see that more and more people are learning about this kind of karate. Thanks for the video!❤
I cant imagine the level of cardio needed to fight in waist height water like that
Sensei Chloe and Sensei Taylor are some of the best Karateka I've ever seen! They were so fluid and powerful!
"I make them so you can watch me go through pain" oh I thought we were learning about martial arts Seth 😂
It's interesting that they show you practical self-defense techniques that would be useful in a potential real-life scenario. Not just the sport aspect of it. Really liked this one. 🤛
YES SENSEI SETH POSTED
Man, this was really cool. I too was wondering if you would ever do this video, and I'm glad you finally were able to do it with these cool people. If I were to ever do karate, I would want it to Kyokushin.
We practice Shotokan where I live. It too has some crazy tests that can last 6-7 hours easily and only start after several miles worth of runs, sprints, hundreds of pushups and more. BUT... THIS looks fun (in a horrible way) LOL! And we too are on a LAKE! In fact our dojo is named after the lake where we live. The Lake Monticello Karate Academy or LMKA for short. I literally just tagged our instructor with a link to this video. We've practiced / tested in the sand (which sucks) but in the water? We've never done that! I might regret even mentioning this option if / when I make it back! LOL
Water gymnastics is really, really good for your body in general. I don't see how practising karate in it would be bad for you in that light. It'd be really great exercise.
@@maxgehtdnixan4913 Right? I grew up studying martial arts and surfing. I dunno why I never thought to try KATA etc in the water! Talk about resistance training! :)
I love the commitment to the bit that these people display. In the beginning of the video, there definitely was a bit of a "future documentary about a karate cult" vibe, but the second half felt more like a really good approach to traditional martial arts in a western setting. I hope they don't overdo it with the rituals as the club continues. It's easy to step into "let's practice getting hit by head kicks from the sensei" territory once you've established the training as a lifestyle/spiritual thing.
Well after learning so much about karate by you jesee enkamp I'm starting to love it
For this video you have my sub. Kyokushin is the first style i`ve trained... And even after I moved to other martial arts (aikido, bjj, kickboxing), kyokushin stays my foundation... Oss
