      Exactly. I got the impression that Lyle the oldest was sociopathic.
      18 and 21 years are huge developmental life transitions. K and Jose wouldn't let them make life choices, didn't encourage their career interests, didn't validate their feelings.
      Jose was in boarding school. He was totally supported by his father also driven by his father, possibly abused. Jose might have been a sociopath himself. Many people expelled from Cuba were mob associated. Organized crime owned Cuba before the revolution. It's very possible that Jose was also corrupted along the way or forced to associated with them.
      Leave it to Jose and Kitty to find a corrupt therapist for the boys. Confidentiality has professional ethical limitations. You can't fail to report a crime. In fact, the boys could likely have been diagnosed as oppositional defiant and conduct disordered youth. Eric could have been considered sociopathic. But on top of that they suffered from traumatic abuse. That should have been a sentencing mitigation factor if not reducing the conviction to manslaughter.

    I've watched the whole series and the two actors who played the brothers were excellent, but Ryan Murphy created a different story. Today I've did my research directly and in the REAL trial a few family members said that some abuse was happening. Also last year or lil before , a former Menudo member, Roy Rosselló, has said that Jose Menendez, then an executive at RCA Records (which signed Menudo to a multimillion-dollar contract), raped him as well, in the family’s New Jersey home.

    The thing that always bothered me about this is why didn’t Lyle and Erik put the same effort they put in plotting and killing their parents into seeking help for the horrific abuse they claim they suffered for years? Why come up with an alibi if your reason for doing the murder was self defense? Last time I checked you didn’t need to lie about defending yourself. These are two people that grew up in wealth and privilege that a lot of us will never experience, but yet they never tried to get help. They burglarized other peoples homes for the fun of it and never did any time for it because of their dad paying people off. They were spoiled and used to getting away with things and thought they would get away with this. People forget they started seeing Dr Oziel right after getting caught for the robberies, and they never brought up abuse in those sessions. They only brought the abuse up when they got caught for the murders. The actions and lengths they took after the murders makes it really hard to believe they were abused and that they had no other choice but to kill their parents.

    • @sarahmccarthy1919
      @sarahmccarthy1919 6 дней назад

      They never would have gotten help because of the shame it takes for many victims to report rape especially men. Some people believe males can't be raped or at least if they do then it's because they are gay. Plus there father brought them up to suck it up like men and not be a weak pussy. Not my beliefs but if all the reports are true it's the nature of that family and those times. Yes they were privileged with silver spoons but they also had zero life skills and were also taught that only strong elite men live by their kind of lifestyle and that the only way for success is to lie, cheat and steal. It was what they were taught to live by. I don't agree but I was fortunate to be brought up with morals, I don't think they were

    • @ledzep310
      @ledzep310 6 дней назад +12

      Agreed with OP. I'd go a bit further, it was in fact an "abuse excuse". None of the abuse nonsense was an issue until their defense attorneys came into the fray. If you take a step back and look at the entirety of the actions of the brothers - you can see they did exactly what they were accused of (1st degree murder for $). My only question in this case is who came up with the idea? Was it Lyle or Erik?

    • @tijadusenbery1877
      @tijadusenbery1877 6 дней назад +9

      @@ledzep310 Well if I had to choose it would definitely be Erik. I say this because he seemed smarter and more calculated than Lyle, he came up with that script about killing the parents and they definitely seemed to go with his playbook when they carried out the act. Lyle seems like he jumps into things head first without thinking things through, his failed restaurant business being the example. I always felt like Erik was the brains of the duo.

    • @ledzep310
      @ledzep310 6 дней назад +4

      @@tijadusenbery1877 Hi, thanks for the response. Yes, agreed once again. Erik is much brighter than Lyle. The only reason I would think Lyle masterminded it and brought Erik into it is the older brother thing. Erik, from what I've read, did look up to Lyle. It could go either way as to who was behind the killings. If I had to bet, I think I would bet on Lyle - Erik was so young at the time. Plus Lyle is so cold. A manipulative sociopath. He has the right mental framework to decide it was ok to kill his parents. Unfortunately we will never know the truth. BOTH of them are endless liars. Plus they both live in a fantasy world. IOW - at this point, even if one of them did say "Yeah, I masterminded it!" - I'd question whether he was telling the truth. Lastly, I congratulate you on seeing thru the BS. 2 trials, 6 years, they spent even more money on legal fees than OJ - and still, they couldn't walk. In fact, they ended up with the worst outcome possible.

      Well if you watched the case you would know that the therapist who talked to both Eric in Lyle said that it took numerous sessions for Eric to even talk about what their father had done to them. If you know anything about abuse, trauma and conditioning you would know that coming out to speak about what you went through is a very difficult thing to do. When they did come out and say what they had went through they were shamed especially at a time like this where the knowledge was very limited about this topic.They were examined by numerous psychologists and they all said the same things about these boys in that they were abused. There are even records of Eric having the scaring of what is typically found in children who are forced to have oral sex. Scaring that dentists are permitted to now look out for. There’s just too much evidence here to deny that they were sexually abused. There’s a mountain of evidence that it did happen including multiple witness testimony from literal family members who were told it by Eric and Lyle when they were children. There was even a written letter addressed to a cousin ( who Eric confessed to about being molested by his father) where Eric states that he was still being sexual abused by his father and how he was scared of him bc his father was crazy and he couldn’t say no. Nobody who doesn’t believe the boys can find any evidence that the abuse never happened. The ppl that knew their father don’t even have good things to say about the man. He was a horrible person who abused and terrorized his own children.

Back then, the males on that jury believed males can't be raped and there is a misconception that if abuse it true people report it straight away but victims of rape feel a lot of shame which is why not everyone reports, many wait sometimes weeks, months, years to report and men report less. Plus the men of the jury didn't like the woman lawyer that represented the Menendez brothers, not sure why, maybe because she was a tough woman or sexist views, one can only speculate

      @@Djkdarg due to years of abuse and feelings of being trapped and threats and ultimately self defense. A lot of cold blooded killers get less time. Even if 1% chance they did it for money and everything else is BS, which I highly doubt, there's too many people and witnesses that agree with the brothers and at least 1 of the members from the popular Spanish boy band Menudo in the recent documentary I saw of him regarding the 2 brothers has very vivid memories of their Dad and how manipulative and sneaky and ultimately evil he was. He has no horse in this race. It would make no sense for him to make stuff like this up. Plus people close to the Menendezes always say how their dad had so many enemies. And just looking deep into their dad's face and eyes, one can tell this guy was sketchy af. You can't hide your aura and your vibe, no matter who you are. My point is even if it was for money they still did their time and should be paroled.

    I hate they way everyone is on here making excuses for why these 2 killed their parents. I do believe there was abuse in the home but clearly before and after the crime they plotted this. They plotted to purchase weapons, plotted their alibi, plotted to lie to police about who killed their parents. Then while on trial tried to pay family and friends to lie for them. If they would have been honest about everything from the jump they wouldn’t be where they are. No one believed them because of what came out their mouths and what they did after the murders. They confessed to murder so how if tf are the not guilty. No I don’t believe they should be in jail for life bc I don’t feel they are a harm to anyone else in society but the overkilling of their abusers who was also their parents deserved justice. The same justice their parents might have received had they reported them. This was not in defense this was a planned attack. Thats why they were convicted so please stop saying they’re innocent when they confessed. Say you want to help free them because the sentence wasn’t deserved because of the circumstances behind the killings but Please Please Stop With The They’re Innocent! Especially, when these same rich kids was caught breaking in their own neighbors homes stealing what wasn’t theirs and selling their stuff to keep up their lifestyle when the parents would punish them. Far from innocent!

      @littlefruitster2667 of course no one deserves to die. But if you abuse a child sexually that will eventually come back and bite ya in the ass. If the parents could have kept their sexual fantasies away from the children maybe the parents would still be alive. And if the pics that were found were found today the brothers would have gotten manslaughter just from the pictures they found of them as children. But the prosecution said "men can't be ra*e cuz they lack the necessary equipment" so that must be true right? So if you belive the prosecution I hope you belive in everything the prosecution says. Which means you don't belive men can be sexually assaulted. Hope you have a fine day with that.
