Wednesday fan here. Loved it that BBC gave our game the full Monty Match of the Day coverage with Alan Shearer on board. Sure you were getting out the popcorn to see (our) blood on the dancefloor. Sorry to disappoint. We won! Watched the match on TV. Loved it! Afterwards thought to myself "Did I really see that??".
Team selection lost us the game! The players let Eddie down big time! It has demonstrated the lack in depth in the squad! We require some quality additions and reinforcements.

As a Wednesday fan my main worry before kick off was we wouldn’t get embarrassed by the result!😂 There are always a few knôb heads (on both sides) but in the main most Wednesday fans relish big away followings coming to Hillsborough. Last week we entertained Cambridge United who brought about 600 fans! Terrific atmosphere tonight and a much needed boost for Wednesday after many fûcking awful years! Next stop… promotion!
Didn’t even notice Wednesday were the only club who had gone unbeaten longer than us, clear to see why, you’ve got a great team in your hands, cherish it. Granted, they didn’t do as well when the first team player got substituted on but they still held on regardless. Promotion is a guarantee, the league title should be your goal! Or even the FA Cup!

Its clear we not yet at that stage where we can play a 2nd string team and win that sort of game, we looked in control once Trippier and Bruno came on. As a Sunderland fan, Sheff Wed have one of the most historic and electric grounds in league one and it holds such a solid fan base. Even though they don’t wear red and white, they are still ranked higher than blades ngl.

Team selection wasn't wrong at all. The team that was selected should have been good enough to beat a league one team. However, it just goes to show that certain players are not good enough, have been at the club far too long and need to go. Eddie made the right call resting a few with Tuesday in mind. tactical decision to avoid FA cup games, we now have two week breaks at every FA Cup weekend, alongside no european games like our top four rivals. Pep said as much when he declared us as title contenders.Carabao cup and champions league the targets with the current squad, summer with presumably greater FFP funds available due to massive increased sponsorship will gear us up nicely for 23-24.
Not sure what Dubravka was doing for the second goal, makes the lads mind up for him. Wood was awful, his confidence is shot. Scary that if we get European football how thin our squad really is.
Eddie Howe NEVER under estimates an opposition. FACT. He knew he had to rest players and he picked a team that should have done the job. They didn't but not for lack of trying...the good thing was it did highlight which players are not up for the job (Wood for one has to go - his confidence is shot) and makes it clearer for Eddie going forward. He can now concentrate on the cup and premier league and maximising on the January and summer window...

tbh I'm not surprised we went out. every year its the same in the FA cup, we've struggled to even make it past teams in the moose cup. To many mistakes not clinical enough so many wasted chances. teams have to rotate and even our rotated players should be beating league 1 or 2 teams no problem. Wednesday took there chances and fair play but there fans have every right to laugh tbh, its embarrassing. everyone loves an upset but year after year its not an upset its just pathetic to not even make it to the round of 16 . hopefully this was a reality check the club needed to realize there's still alot more work that needs done

Team selection wasn't wrong at all. The team that was selected should have been good enough to beat a league one team. However, it just goes to show that certain players are not good enough, have been at the club far too long and need to go. Eddie made the right call resting a few with Tuesday in mind. Anyone knows over playing will lead to muscle injuries and the squad isn't strong enough yet to cope with that, tonight was evidence enough. Onwards to Tuesday HWTL

As for getting knocked out… I really couldn’t give af as long as the league situation stays the same. Neither us nor Sheffield Wednesday will win the FA Cup so it feels like losing a friendly. We lost to Cambridge then became the 3rd best team in the league last season, hopefully it goes to 2nd this season! Highly doubt it tho with such squad depth 😂

Eddie Howe NEVER under estimates an opposition. FACT. He knew he had to rest players and he picked a team that should have done the job. They didn't but not for lack of trying...the good thing was it did highlight which players are not up for the job (Wood for one has to go - his confidence is shot) and makes it clearer for Eddie going forward. tbh I'm not surprised we went out. every year its the same in the FA cup, we've struggled to even make it past teams in the moose cup. To many mistakes not clinical enough so many wasted chances. teams have to rotate and even our rotated players should be beating league 1 or 2 teams no problem. Wednesday took there chances and fair play but there fans have every right to laugh tbh, its embarrassing. everyone loves an upset but year after year its not an upset its just pathetic to not even make it to the round of 16 . hopefully this was a reality check the club needed to realize there's still alot more work that needs done
