  • It’s been about a year since a St. Johns County Deputy died of a heart attack shortly after trying to arrest an 18-year-old migrant worker in St. Augustine.

It was thrown out of court, not because the language barriers or education or nothing else. It was simply because it was an illegal stop. That officer should’ve just kept driving around the corner. Some people would excuse this because he was an illegal immigrant, but remember they can do it to him. They will do it to you.

Before this even escalated the officer could have used his phone to communicate or could have called someone in who spoke Spanish but at the end of the day you cant just stop someone for standing in a area when no crime is being committed....when its your time it just is ...it was his time to go.

It’s a Terry pat down. The deputy is allowed to frisk for his safety. After that they can let him go. But a person resisting a Terry pat down could be armed & harm tbd deputy or someone else.

So what you are telling me a cop can just stop you for absolutely no reason and he can pat you down that is BS. The officer must articulate a crime now that is a fact.
