    I might be cleaning completely wrong, but I don’t have much forward “swing” motion (as seen in the video) of the KB at all - I clean it like the bar - the pull is vertical and I use the vertical momentum of the KB to “wrap” the elbow underneath just like I do with the bar.

    Really nice. Yours is the only one I've seen that that mentioned the hip turn, and it makes a difference.

      No need for hip turn if you roll/rotate your wrist at the top

      @leeming1317 Год назад

      @@gripandhikekettlebells The pronated grip really helped me with the rotation part and it feels so good, but when I do the swing like that it feels so gross haha. Just need to practice I reckon.

    This video is excellent. I've been beating the shit out of my wrists but with your help I am gradually getting it to land more and more softly on my forearm.

    I would mention that watches, rings, any body jewellery are left off during exercise with heavy weights.

    Starting with your thumb facing backward fixes a lot of that.

    The best kettlebell clean instructional video I’ve seen. The attention to the finer details such as the towel under the arm, and the slight backwards hip movement have made all the difference to my technique. Thank you 🙂

    Nice breakdown. The mistake I think I made was to buy a classic kettlebell. the competition models are better integrated with the handle and will roll around your forearm without clanking onto it. the problem is that they are very expensive if you're just getting started and wanting to see if kettlebells are your thing.

    I second what many below have said. This really explains the “rotation” of the bell around the wrist. Subscribed immediately. Thank you!

    Clear and useful thanks. Came here looking for how to do a kettlebell snatch; don't suppose you have a video for that?

    • @TheKettlebellDoctor
      @TheKettlebellDoctor  6 лет назад

      Mark Lim hi Mark, thanks for your comment. I don't have a full tutorial on how to perform the snatch. These sets of videos have mainly been investigating specific aspects of particular exercises. I did in fact look at a particular aspect of the snatch. You can view that here ruclips.net/video/GynDrY7fMBk/видео.html

      @@TheKettlebellDoctor Please send Brittany my utmost gratitude! Seriously game changer for me my gosh. I bought wristguards, but I was unstatisfied because its not the right form you cant just do that. So was very determined, would watch a video get all hyped up, then SLAM haha sometimes I'd get some REALLY good ones where you know oh that was beautiful perfect. Then the next one like you mentioned a car wreck. But the towel did it for me, because it helped me also cue that its not about the force generate from the arm but that controlled hip flex slow steady. Thank you so much!

  • @gripandhikekettlebells
    @gripandhikekettlebells 3 года назад

    You still needed to roll/rotate your wrist at the top to avoid the bell slamming but rather slip onto your forarm

  • @ferdinoh3704
    @ferdinoh3704 Год назад

    Imo you are still banging your forearm.
    There should be a quick elbow retraction, allowing the bell to have a straight upward trajectory.
    What you show still have a circular trajectory, wich is normal if there is no elbow retraction.

    People say a KB clean is less technical than a BB clean, but I totally disagree.

    • @TheKettlebellDoctor
      @TheKettlebellDoctor  5 лет назад

      there are definitely a lot of nuances to both. Personally I've been doing more barbell work lately and I find it very tough learning the proper technique.

    i'm a beginner at KBs and im trying to learn how to do better clean but for example, even if i manually just hold the KB in the right position like shown at 2:04, the weight of it still hurts by applying pressure on the top of my forearm. i dont know if there's something i'm missing....

    I've applied this, and now I've managed to stop smacking my forearm with the bell as it flies over my wrist. But now I have a new problem: on my left side when I kbell clean, the handle of the bell rather than the round part of the bell itself is forcefully catching on my wrist, causing bruising. But only on my left side which is my non-dominant side. Any idea what's up with this?

    • @TheKettlebellDoctor
      @TheKettlebellDoctor  3 года назад +2

      Been there. Although I believe the handle should indeed be touching the forearm as you describe, the method used to get there should be relatively gentle. I think perhaps you are having a timing issue, meaning you're accelerating the bell a little too much and it's making contact with your forearm with too much velocity. I'd try playing around with slowing the movement down a tad and work on the proper timing.
