According to my professor Sir Roger Penrose,"quantum mechanics is incomplete because it does not explain the collapse of the wave function." Maybe Paul Dirac or Feynman would be more formal because dirac said that it is inconsistent.
According to my Prof. Sir Penrose, The Schrodinger equation is a smooth, continuous evolution of a state, but it is not what you get when you make a measurement. when you make a mesurement which is also broadening the system a bit to include the measuring apparatus and all that, why does not it follow the Schrodinger equation ? And that worried Schrodinger very much. this was the gap according to penrose. See all the other theories including he Schrodinger equation,or the unitary evolution in quantum mechanics , they are all things you put on a computer.so where is there something that you could not maybe put on a computer? and the argument he was making here that it is in the collapse of the wave function.
