    Diamond Protection’s Vertical Rescue Training is designed for personnel who may be required to undertake vertical rescue operations as a member of a rescue / emergency team.
    Typically performed by emergency service or response teams, this unit is physically and mentally challenging.
    Candidates must be physically fit with past heights training and experience. You must be comfortable and familiar with harness operation with the skills in fall protection techniques.
    Undertake Vertical Rescue training is a nationally accredited course delivered upon request.
    (In partnership with our Australian Private and Government Registered Training Organisations).
    Diamond has training centres around Australia and can conduct this course at your workplace throughout Australia and beyond.
    Qualification
    Upon satisfactory completion of this course, participants will be issued with a statement of attainment, recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework and issued under authority of the National Vocational Education and Regulator Act 2011, for competency:
    • PUASAR032A Undertake vertical rescue
    • PUASAR022A Participate in a rescue operation
    Pre-Requisites
    The statement of attainment will only be issued if participants hold a current statement of attainment in
    • PUAEME001B Provide emergency care OR
    • HLTFA211A Provide basic emergency life support
    Course Duration is around 4 days (32 hours).
    Course Overview
    Diamond’s Undertake vertical rescue course gives participants the skills and knowledge to undertake vertical rescue in a range of emergency situations in natural and man-made environments.
    Vertical rescue training will provide information to students on:
    • Operational briefing and debriefing procedures
    • Casualty assessment and emergency management
    • Rescue team roles, responsibilities and
    • Vertical rescue equipment
    • Knowledge of breaking strains and safe working loads
    • Relevant WHS requirements, legislation and codes of practice and organisational procedures
    • Vertical rescue concepts and practices
    The Vertical Rescue training is a highly practical training program that will provide students with the skills to:
    • Check, service and maintain vertical rescue equipment
    • Raise and lower stretchers and patient handling
    • Establish, maintain, monitor and use of:
    - ascent and descent systems
    - safety systems
    - stretcher rigging
    • Select rope, use knots, secure anchors
    • Construct mechanical advantage systems
    • Perform “pick off” rescues
    • Utilise a range of vertical rescue techniques and equipment
    • Implement safe and effective scene management procedures
    • Manage edge protection
    • Treat and package casualties
    • Manage potential suspension trauma
    • Undertake scene assessment and reporting
    • Use communications effectively
    This training is ‘hands on’. A range of rescue scenarios are implemented to suit a variety of emergency service environments.
    Participants will establish safe systems to gain access to and recover casualties, extricate casualties to minimise further injury or discomfort while conducting rescue operation and be able to apply safe work practices to vertical rescue operations to ensure maximum protection to themselves, their team and the victim.

    Belay button Petzl calls a Horizontal Movement button, not sure how this relates to belaying? Lock mode, is that the transport mode?
