Using my high quality Sennheiser studio headphones, I could hear a slight improvement in overall tone. The compression of uploading video/audio to youtube will hamper the actual sound. I bought myself a Tone Rite to try out, and loved the results so much, I bought 2 more of them. I have 4 killer acoustic guitars, and I always rotate the 3 Tone Rites among all 4 of my acoustics. Not only can I hear a distinct difference, but I can literally FEEL all 4 of my acoustics vibrating more as I play them, even all the way up the neck & headstock. They didn't vibrate that much before. There IS a REAL science to this: Actual audio graphs prove a difference. This is because the molecules in the wood actually re-arrange themselves the more an acoustic guitar gets played. This is what is happening when a new guitar "opens up" with time, but ONLY if that guitar is played quite often, and for long periods. They will NOT open up just sitting there. This ONLY works on guitars with quality solid tops & back/sides. In the old days, many seasoned guitarists would place a loud speaker directly in front of their acoustic guitar, and play music through the speaker at high volume, for hours on end, even days on end. And they swore it improved the tone, volume, and sustain of their acoustic guitar. Alvarez YAIRI in Japan has been placing every acoustic guitar they produce in an insulated room, hanging from special racks. Each new Yairi guitar has a date taped onto it, and hung on a rack in this room with many other acoustic guitars, as they play classical music very loud through speakers. Every guitar in that room is vibrating & resonating to the music. Alvarez Yairi leaves every guitar they produce in this special room for no less than 30 days, before shipping them to retailers. Also: any good quality acoustic guitar that has already opened up.......if that guitar is stored away without being played for years, the molecules in the wood will actually revert back, and the guitar will literally "go to sleep". This is why vintage acoustics that have been continuously played over the years WILL sound better than the exact same model/year acoustic that was never played & stored away. Many pro's swear by the Tone Rite. Lastly: for those of you who are "worried that the Tone Rite might vibrate your braces or glue joints loose".........this is utterly ridiculous, because a good solid wood acoustic guitar is engineered & MADE TO VIBRATE. It HAS TO vibrate in order to produce sound. RUclipsr & Bluegrass/folk guitarist & teacher TONY POLECASTRO also swears by the Tone Rite. But even when using high quality headphones, it is quite difficult to hear the difference over a youtube video/audio. Ya have to try this in person. Hey, I wound up buying 3 of these Tone Rites.......with no regrets whatsoever. I've been playing guitar since 1973/74.

The “too long don’t wanna read all that crap” version:
Thank you for this, brother. There was a definite difference my ears picked up, with the “after” sounding fuller and richer overall. Less thin sounding with more midrange coming through.
For the detail have-to-havers…Depending on how you use the guitar and what you want out of it (need it to cut through the mix in some recording situations, need to hold its own in a live bluegrass band or want it for soloing etc) the Tonerite treatment may help or hinder reaching your goal sound.
Listened to this with an Onkyo TX-NR676 with original Onkyo cheapo center channel and a pair of Boston Acoustics CR6 bookshelf speakers swapped in for the front left & rights; not sure what was getting fed into the AV receiver, it seemed like only the front 3 channels with nothing coming through any of the rear four speakers. Also couldn’t really tell if one or both of the subs were getting a signal. Some Blu-ray Discs give the full 7.2 sound this system is capable of and sometimes the occasional RUclips vid will have 5.1.

I heard a very slight increase bass in response in the after version - wasn’t night and day to my ear, in any case - nice comparison, thanks!

From what I am hearing Randy has a bit more dynamic headroom, basically it opened up the guitar. I could it see it being useful in wanting to break in / open up a new guitar.

It seems to me that it diminished the brighter ring out tones to a warmer softer Taylor sound ! But Crap I can't decide which I like better ?

I listened on my studio speakers.... it does seem slightly warmer like the resonant frequency (around 100-200 hz) is up a little. I always wondered what those would do. thanks for saving me a little time and doing it for me! not sure I'd use one I play a lot.... 🙂
