  • This was my first R/C Boat. Built in 1977. A Dumas DragonFly 40, it was painted by my sister's boyfriend at the time with Ford Thunderbird paint. It has the original HP 40 engine. Water cooled using an Octura Kool Clamp, the hardware was all custom made by my dad. The original radio I used was a Cox/Sanwa.

Fun to see this . We built a D20 in 1972. It had an OS Max .25 regular engine. It was a pain to start. The boat out of the box, had severe cavitation problems. Partly, because the plans didn't specify prop depth or angle. It was finally dialed in after adjusting the strut depth, and using an submerged, versus a surface running prop. I have video , if you would be interested in seeing it in action. ?
