Can someone help me draw the line between being merciful and calling out false teachers? I hate what is evil. I don’t hate the people but my wife says she’s worried about my judgment because I don’t really extend much mercy to those who are. I just see all these false teachers and lukewarm “Christians” and decent people of faith don’t see it and it irks me greatly. I can’t rebuke these people in person for obvious reasons so I do it to the people who will listen. Is it true that “The shepherd has one voice for the sheep and another for the wolves?”

Also I know to speak the truth in love, but that’s more about evangelism and not shoving things down peoples throat. I don’t see any instance of false prophets or pharisees or gnostics in the Bible getting such a gentle hand as some people ask for.

Jesus was not a "christian" he was a messenger for the angels sent by the light to show the way....
He taught peace love and harmony but still flipped the table of the accountants because it was evil so mearly speaking against the accountants is not evil or hateful
Especially when the wolves are attacking the flock of sheep and biting the shepherd

There is nothing wrong with tithing But There is something wrong with That pastors of the church Using it To guilt trip Other people into tithing Or Put scriptures on Screen About tithing so they can give. I may not have a lot of money but there's many things I can do that doesn't cost money for me to give with a cheerful heart instead of just feeling obligated to do it because if I'm feeling obligated then I truly won't be doing it with a cheerful heart. You can volunteer, you can help people in the streets such as kind gestures or even giving canned foods to the poor and even being nice to people because you genuinely want to be nice and listening or calling people that is a form of giving! If people feel led to give then they can give but just know that people who don't have a big income can give in other ways. Joe is right we can't just give just for the sake of being saved but with the faith and giving with a cheerful heart is what matters! I'm not sure where it was in the Bible but someone was giving burnt offerings but it meant nothing to God because the heart was not right. Also there is a story in Matthews about the Pharisees and the tax collector and the Pharisees said thank God I'm not like these people but yet he had so much pride in his heart and that's why God did not hear it! The tax collector was saying Lord have mercy on me which he showed humility because he was repenting and was pouring his heart out to God. That's why God answered and listened to the tax collector because his heart was in the right place! Pride comes before destruction and the exalted will be humbled and the humble will be exalted!
