Those headers are one of the most beautiful pieces i have ever seen. Looks like there was easily 50 hours in them. Whoever built those deserves a freaking beer man. Absolutely beautiful work as always.
Stev Rex Yeah, but really, even Aston Martins right off the production line look somewhat tatty compared to F1 cars. Anything but a Maybach, a Delahaye, or a top of the line Bentley looks inferior.
elijahcbr 600 his fab work is ALWAYS works of art.....I always see people bitching how expensive his builds are...and how "they can" build 1000hp car for way less and blah, blah, blah.....but they are so ignorant...they overlook all the amazing custom fab work, all the suspension and drive train mods....ALL the engineering that goes into each build...which is why is 1000hp plus cars can be driven everyday like they were bone stock.....and then be romped on, beaten, and run to the limits....anytime you want...and they wont break down all the time...they dont rattle....just 100% engineered perfection....
Andrew Schmidbauer I know, right! But...I've been getting very discouraged lately seeing cars that a typical everyday guy (like me) will likely never even see one of in real life, let alone ever have one. A 55 chevy has been my dream car since 2LBT, and I have a 69 camaro that I've had for...30 years now. It is literally in as many pieces as it could possibly be in (a bare shell on 4 -35 gallon steel drums), and has been for the past 15 years. Seems like I'm always short on time AND money, and always will be. If we have the money, we can make the time (we like to imagine, or, we could pay someone else), but if we have the time, we usually don't have the money! Cars like these take a lot of both.
@@rickshaw6198 You could buy a retro modded Tri-five for 30 to 50 grand. Not like the video of course but nice. Not saying that's cheap but you don't have to be cheap for it.
Hey Tom! Awesome job on the work for the background of what looks like it's going to be an amazing car! I love the attention to detail that you and the guys pay to things like following the frame rails with those stainless headers and making modifications to the Roadster Shop chassis for ease of transmission removal. It's another great video and a Super Car project from Nelson! I wish more of my projects in the shop here looked like the work you do there. I'm retooling the floors in my Chevelle as I go back to an automatic from the butcher job a previous owner did using a torch to cut and weld the opening when they stuffed in the 4 speed. I went to a lot of trouble cleaning up and doing all the related things right on the 4 speed with the floor as the exception. Now that I decided to go back to an automatic (which is what the car had originally) repairing the floors was important to me. The stuff I removed looks like some of those body panels you cleaned up on your project. I made up my own floor panel with a little extra thickness to help in the case of an exploding transmission. I sure wish I had more of the tools you are able to employ. My work is more on the improvised side of things, but produces some reasonable results. Another great video Tom and it always motivates me to push my projects to a higher level when I see what you're doing! I'm building a new short block that has stronger internals for my Vortech Blower project. As I started to look into larger bore and stroke combinations I began to see some ups and downs related to longevity and the speed of pistons. They say that with all the various big bore and stroke combos you can end up assembling engines that don't have a long life. I'm curious if you have taken the speed of the pistons into account for some of your builds. I have noticed that you stick to certain sizes like the 572. I decided to stay on the smaller side of things for now. Just building a good strong forged 496 with flat tops. Using a good factory 4 bolt block and the forged 4.250 stroker crank with some forged "H" Rods good to 1500 HP and plan to keep this engine at or below 1200 hp. With it being both a street and strip car (that has A/C) running fuel injection I felt moving back to an automatic would improve drivability and actually get me faster times at the track. The clutch has been the weakest link in my 4 speed setup. Even after going to a dual disk setup at a cost of $1000, the car still had a hard time getting off the line and was already eating up that expensive new clutch in short order. Plus it was starting to chatter worse around town on the street. Speakers holes with your teeth actually sounds better than a transmission tunnel opening with a torch! LOL :-P Mark
Mark Moore 572 is an amazing motor! I have a ZZ502 in my 69 Chevelle with a TH400 (a stall, high volume pump, and deep pan to take it) and tubular suspension. Mine is a daily "street car" and I am either going to run a Pro Charger (D-1SC or F-1R) or a Nelson Alien intake and can kit...gaining 50-95% more horsepower with simple bolt on goes to show how far technology has come. Tom has it dialed and not to many people know what he makes
Wow that is awesome you guys. This car won't be able to get out of a gas station without attracting attention. Beautiful metalwork. I know nothing about these old cars but to know the difference I'm looking at but wow!!! This will be one of the funnest cars on the road for every reason.
The true car guy hits all the little details...you guy's are making this a true car guy's dream...not only building a power house but putting it together in a sweet body style that just makes it a sleeper and a driver...and then BAM...slaps the punks in the face when it just walks away from them when they think they have done a hotrod...LOL! Best of both worlds..NICE!
I cant imagine the cost to build this but my guess is around $150,000.00 or so. It must be nice to have the money to have you guys do it right. I have a 67 mustang coupe and if I win the lottery you guys can make my car right. Great job to Tom Nelson and his crew for yet another epic car.
Amazing work. I love these videos where you show off your craftsmanship. I can only dream of one day being able to afford some work like this. It's beautiful
Damn you guys not only do bad ass engines but you do metal work too that's awesome that is going to be one sick 55 when your done 55 Chevy's are the bomb
Wow , that is absolutely a beautiful build . looks great as it sits now. Would love to have you build a 56 for me done up very similarly to this build. Really am digging the big inch Ls motor. I would really like to see what a big inch (510-522) cid Tall deck all aluminum RHS Ls with either an F2x procharger running around 16-20 psi or twin 88-94mm turbos at the same boost level , will make power wise on E85&meth inj and what it will make at 22+psi on race gas (c116) . Would be a nasty setup for a street/strip 66-67 nova .
i have watched a lot of channels throughout the years on builds. Nothing comes close in my opinion to the quality of the work put out by NRE. Please make more videos
I was 9 when it was new- It is every bit as fine as a coach built car of the art deco age and a modern sport super underneath. I would love to see the finished car.
Places like Kindig, Foose, RMD Garage all build some nice rides, but the guys at NRE are off the chain, they build the sickest shit in captivity ! Nice job, Tom !
You have some great metal work going on there. Great frame and running gear. RHS speaks for itself. What a great concept, and am looking forward to seeing it when it is finished. There's not a car guy out there, that wouldn't love to own this baby.
Tom, I like the rendering in the thumbnail with the steel wheels(or billet look a likes) and dog dish hub caps. It gives it that "nothing happening here folks... move along" under stated look. Great detail and workmanship. I look forward to more on this car as it progresses.
The best of the Tri 5's....55....One thing people are going to when they build there cars is doing away with the stock interior, digital gauges, funky dash, crazy seats and then put these ugly 20" wheels on...I'm a purist, love a sleeper and it looks like you are headed that way...Love it.
Tom Nelson your attention to detail is incredible, I am sure there has to be over 1500-2000 man hours of labor/fabrication in this build. Really well done, I would love to have you build a car but I don't have the funds for this level of a build. I wanted to ask does the customer tell you specifics, of what they want and give you a budget ceiling? Do you suggest to the client as well what you professionally think will work within their vision? Great work good to see you doing videos again!
Nice job there the car looks kick ass and it's not even finished yet. I'm wondering though , if the engine is breathing air from the cowl area , what happens if it rains?
Can't wait to see the finished product! I love your videos, amazing craftsmanship. In the future, can you track down whatever that high frequency squeal is in the shop. Overhead fans? It was really distracting.
Hi Nelson John here from NJ.i spoke to you a long time ago.when had the little shop I have 1958fordlanne 500..I made it a bigblock 533with t56six speed.i like the way you did the tubs and the tunnel for the trans.can give some point on how to do.im doing this car on my own.i need some help.thank I no ur very busy but if u could reach out to me.thanks a lot...john
If your pulling out all the stops you should french the rear tail lights. it just brings everything together in the back and lets every one know you are serious about the whole car.
Very nice sheet metal work. People do not have a clue how difficult it is to reshape this metal on these old cars.
the fabrication is insane. bad ass tom.
elijahcbr 600 his fab work is ALWAYS works of art.....I always see people bitching how expensive his builds are...and how "they can" build 1000hp car for way less and blah, blah, blah.....but they are so ignorant...they overlook all the amazing custom fab work, all the suspension and drive train mods....ALL the engineering that goes into each build...which is why is 1000hp plus cars can be driven everyday like they were bone stock.....and then be romped on, beaten, and run to the limits....anytime you want...and they wont break down all the time...they dont rattle....just 100% engineered perfection....
Man to have the unlimited budget to build something like this and to want it just perfect , car porn at it's best amazing work ! this is really art

there is an insane amount of custom work on this car...well done, i cant wait to see the finished product.

Maybe start doing oval exhaust through the frame so it can be bigger and keep the frame small.....
Nice clean detailed work !!!
The headers need to be in a museum!
Love the detail, and the fact that you / customer appreciate a classic, possibly THE classic.
I could watch car building videos all daaaaaay....
Very nice metal work. You are a serious craftsman.
Hammer down Mr. Tom, making the American muscle car great again. Hell yeah buddy
tom has done alot of good things and has shared them. it reminds how much weed chills out your ego.
First saw this vid about five years ago. Great metal work and fabrication. Sure would like to see a finished car eventually.

nice build John, coming from a fellow car builder, 55 lover of 40 + years. my 55 driver just got a new wish list. just need money and time.
Most extraordinary headers I've ever seen! Way to go! Incredible job!
i have watched a lot of channels throughout the years on builds. Nothing comes close in my opinion to the quality of the work put out by NRE. Please make more videos
I have a feeling this is going to be one of your best builds,
Headers are beautiful!! like all the rest of the metal work..
I was 9 when it was new- It is every bit as fine as a coach built car of the art deco age and a modern sport super underneath. I would love to see the finished car.

Amazing metal work, just amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Best '55 Chevy I have ever seen. Looking forward to the finished car.
So cool and great work. Would love to see next steps of this car. Also the paint shop for example. Thanks and go on.
Incredible craftmenship.
I congratulate Nelson from Caracas Venezuela all excellent work impeccable 100%
Of his friend Ruben Alfonzo
Good thing the rims are going
Places like Kindig, Foose, RMD Garage all build some nice rides, but the guys at NRE are off the chain, they build the sickest shit in captivity ! Nice job, Tom !
Some truly Superb Craftsmanship...
Cool video. I especially love the real cowl induction plan!
Looks bad ass look forward to seeing it when it's finished
Excellent Work & Craftsmanship!
Body work so nice you almost hate to put carpet and sound deadener over it!
You have some great metal work going on there. Great frame and running gear. RHS speaks for itself. What a great concept, and am looking forward to seeing it when it is finished. There's not a car guy out there, that wouldn't love to own this baby.
Hows your back doing Tom? glad to see you posting videos again.
Wow!... Looks Amazing... Thanks for Sharing. Keep Up the Great Work
NRE builds the sickest rides out there ! Nice work, Tom, love those 55s !
That's how I judge the straightness of a car. That and even panel gaps are what make the difference.
awesome work guys....
Nice build! Looking forward to updates.
awesome work on 55 ,but when money isn't a issue awesome isn't really a problem. still awesome 55
front tyres are mounted backwards! nice car!
Tom, I like the rendering in the thumbnail with the steel wheels(or billet look a likes) and dog dish hub caps. It gives it that "nothing happening here folks... move along" under stated look. Great detail and workmanship. I look forward to more on this car as it progresses.
Love those headers.
Very talented fellow .

great video and great project. thanks for sharing. great to see the unfinished project on what will be an insane build.

in case you weren't sure his shoe size, he told you twice
valter ponte Yes and it was even funnier the second time.
valter ponte I came to the comments to confirm that. 😂😂😂
You mean the so-called '55 Chevy that's actually a '56 Chevy or rather. a Dynacorn "2-door hardtop" like this one? images.app.goo.gl/YwMtPnx4PGynEZFk6
By the way glad to see you back at work. I'm a huge fan.
Awesome.... almost as nice as Jonathan Ward's ICON vehicles.
Nice job there the car looks kick ass and it's not even finished yet. I'm wondering though , if the engine is breathing air from the cowl area , what happens if it rains?
this is going to be sick when finished. Updates please :)
That is nice
It crazy how car's are made
Today.. Great videos
respect the craft man
Impressive work!
Stunning
Wow, what a perfect build. Thanks for sharing!
He's back!
Can't wait to see the finished product! I love your videos, amazing craftsmanship.

Oh Man! Just say it! Your doing the Nasty Nelson 55!
badass! Tight and right!
always look forward to seeing the magnificent work u guys do, would like to see an update on the blown caddy
Thanks for the great video
Beautiful
Will you be putting heat shielding between the exhaust and floor boards?
Those intake runners are gigantic, does the CI of the engine make up for the torque loss in the runners in exchange for HP?
Great video, Tom! You have really upped your game! Congrats!
Very cool car.
If your pulling out all the stops you should french the rear tail lights. it just brings everything together in the back and lets every one know you are serious about the whole car.
Thank you! I love your work!
Love it! Thanks for sharing the details- looks great!
great work
"Cut holes with their teeth"... that guy must get around, I've worked on several cars he's chewed through.
