Striking out at 17, to live on my own support myself started off with long hours, and subsistencing on tuna, pbj, ramen. Over time as I gained experience and offered my services ,experience, abilites in exchange for the higher pay, buying food opened up many choices. So, check this out. The employees who were laid off from GM these past 2 weeks in GA, TX, and MI, were white color team leads. They were asked to create a list of team members they manage who would be classified as, "underperforming." The list had to be 10% of that team. This list was made and given just before the team leads were laid off. The team leads had no idea they were being laid off, it was a blindside. Now the names on those lists are most likely next. Which are roughly 3k workers. Now that is savage.

Energy prices are not up, they have been higher while consumer goods prices were lower so no one buys that excuse.
The only time we find a case of a companies costs going up it is due to another vendor company upstream has raised their price without justification. Someone somewhere is profiteering off media "saying" there is inflation, or because they have a near monopoly in an essential industry.

When prices of labor is pushed by market demand then yes it is good. But labor prices have been pushed up by minimum price floors, union labor monopolies, and government subsidies reducing labor supply, that's not good. True unemployment rate is really about 40%. Because 40% of the population between the ages of 18 to 65 are not working.
