I just want to say a massive thank you for building this for me..... I'm very much looking forward to taking delivery of it once you get bored and want a new project 😀 😂
Excellent work to see it running! This was a while back. Thought of mounting the ecu, etc to the bottom upright section of the back seat? Instead of mounting to floor? Kind of what they do in most modern supercars.
Covin were making these when Porsche were making the real thing, if the story is true then they rented out a 911 930, took moulds off it and then returned it 😆 Fibreglass kit cars were massive in the 80’s in the uk, far cheaper to make than steel. I think Covin were taken to court by Porsche back in the day. Not sure what happened to the company in the end.
Hey Allan, it an older 2002 Subaru engine so it’s cable operated bud. I’ve seen others using that newer setup you’re talking about and they’ve used the standard accelerator pedal assembly (and fabricated their own mount) and wiring taken from the donor car, the cable lengths were about right going into a beetle too.
Super happy for you and to hear her run! Good job Andy!! 🏆
Cheers Finn! 😎👌

Why they did not make a steel body replica?
What happened to this company?
I always dream about mid engine back dated 911, with some crazy engine.

Hi Andy, i have a question, what sensers did you use for the drive by wire accelerator at the pedal end and at the throttle body end, cheers

There’s a RUclips video of this setup somewhere, I’ll see if I can find it for you.
Found it. Look for this guy, his channel name is:
58-71-05 Subaru Swap VW Beetle.
Thanks for reply Andy ill check him out, cheers
No worries 👌
