This makes me feel like Jake is gonna quit. It makes sense considering how sitcoms often have this kind of melancholic endings where characters have to split up and stuff. Their career paths will inevitably be different because they are very different people but I don't think Jake will give up his job. He loves it and he's good at it. Jake might slow down a little while Mac is an infant but once that stuff is sorted out, he might get back on track.
He could pair up with Rosa and become a PI, that way he wouldn't be bound to regulations that he often gets into and its better, he dreamed of working with Rosa anyway

Did anyone notice that his badge changes in this scene back and forth? He's wearing a Deputy Commissioners badge (but not rank insignia) then the scene cuts to him with a captain's badge.
Happens all the time in the airforce. And it is only a 3 rank jump. You can be field promoted much higher and assume ranks even higher than that in the case of a task force. Not to mention a deputy commissioner can pretty much do whatever they like.
@@backtoearth1983 Yeah, but wouldn't this be a very clear case of a deputy commissioner throwing favoritism. If it can happen, then all right but in the moment I did find it odd that she went from Sergeant of the uniformed officers to becoming a Chief.
@@nikunjdixit1175 In the real world yes it could be seen as favouritism (at least by some) though it's certainly not unusual for newly ranked up officers to bring a familiar staff with them. And in context of the characters Amy is a decorated detective with some huge cases to her name Figgis and Hawkins to name two of them. As a side note she now outranks her brother (Lt) by a mile... that should elicit another dork dance.
@@backtoearth1983 I guess it just didn't sit well with me. 3 ranks is a hell of a big promotion and its not quite like Holt to show such obvious favoritism. No doubt Amy is a very capable officer but I can't imagine there aren't other higher ranked officers who she jumped over due to favoritism. I guess I would have preferred if we had seen Amy earn her way to the top, the way we saw her earn her way to becoming a Sergeant. They could have done a flash forward in the finale and see her achieving the rank she desires. This felt a little off for my taste.

@@ubealatonk5072 yeah, between captain and commissioner you got: deputy chief, chief, deputy chief of police, chief of police and then commissioner (in the NYPD at least).
yea i was like How did amy go from sergeant to chief, thats a 7 rank gap, thats like going from E-5 (staff sergeant) to O-10 (4 star general) in the military
Let's get two things clear. Only the Commissioner can promote above captain and no sergeant is being promoted to the rank of chief and for the second thing Holt being made a deputy commissioner is a legitimate thing that happens but when you see him in a uniform wearing 3 stars that's incorrect much like when it is done for Tom Selleck's character in Blue Bloods. Deputy Commissioners do get chief like shields with 3 stars on the shield but their official uniform is business attire. They don't wear a uniform. It's similar in the military when a current general or retired general is nominated to be Secretary of Defense. When this happens they no longer wear a uniform. This same error is made in the TV show Blue Bloods. Selleck's character in the series is a hybrid of two positions in the NYPD, wich are the Commissioner and the Chief of Department. The Commissioner does not wear a uniform even if they came up through the ranks. Once appointed to Commissioner the uniform is business attire. I know I'm nitpicking but it's annoying to see such errors being made for affect.

Plus, he did say back in s4 that he always knew Amy would be promoted in the NYPD because she is an excellent all rounder, what with strategic planning and commanding a precinct or a city wide emergency like in s7 whereas Jake always stays in action, at the ground level. Their career paths will inevitably be different because they are very different people but I don't think Jake will give up his job. He loves it and he's good at it. Jake might slow down a little while Mac is an infant but once that stuff is sorted out, he might get back on track.
They didn’t say he couldn’t but doesn’t seem like he even wants to tbh anyway
He could pair up with Rosa and become a PI, that way he wouldn't be bound to regulations that he often gets into and its better, he dreamed of working with Rosa anyway
@@ronswanson908 He is clearly passionate about being a detective
Jake is gonna retire isn't he??
That's what they are setting the finale to be😔😔😔
Imagine Amy telling her family she was made Chief of Police Reform
All the way to the mantle
They’re a great team 🥰
I’ve not actually watched season 8 yet cause I’m from England☹️
Why haven’t you been watching it on E4?
@@elenalittlejohn4934 WAIT ITS BEEN ON E4??

@@lexiquail6384 did you not watch it live on E4? It won’t be on catch up
wait so is holt THE deputy commissioner then? or just of police reform? i’m confused i’m from the UK
I believe that they have different deputy commisioners for different areas of administration. Like in a private company how they have different vice-presidents for research or HR or marketing etc.
@@CaitSithDubh ah i see
@@dracolee_072 different commissioners
A deputy commissioner. I believe the NYPD has 17 deputy commissioners.
@@backtoearth1983 ah i see thank you
Jake is the best detective, husband and best father. I miss this show so badly 😭😭
"oh no! it happened to turtle bucks!"
I'd thought Terry would be Chief cause he has seniority in the department & is already a lieutenant.
Probably become the new captain
yeah they're lining up terry to take over for Holt at the 99.
There is no logic in the promotion.
..
Oh my God he is gonna quit the end, isn't he?
Hope not
@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 I think he is…
This is my nomination for best TV couple of the year.
Jake’s NFT gotta be worth thousands now
scully's little clap aww
Oh no!! Rewatching this scene just now after the finals and realizing what he actually means by « I just know « 😢
Who knows his #NFT must be blowing up by now
1:00 omgggggg Amy's face is adorableeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Everyone else wants to be Monica and Chandler. Meanwhile I wanna be like Peraltiago. They’re everything. Goals.
Sorry to friends but these guys are more realistic.
Preach!
Thank you SOOS SOSOSOSOSOS much RUclips for spoiling my favorite show😃😃 I hope your pillow is warm on both sides while it’s 90 degrees F
Omg Jake is so sweet😍
Did anyone notice that his badge changes in this scene back and forth? He's wearing a Deputy Commissioners badge (but not rank insignia) then the scene cuts to him with a captain's badge.
Jake oh no what happened to turtlebugs 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
we should get a ninth season with 9 episodes so the last can be 99
Shame it won’t happen
No
It's over, we have to accept it

Great vídeo mark
0:51 one more time! 😆
I’m so glad
Not enough elbows on that dance
Man, such great and accurate predictions in this comment section. Blows my mind!
Is Amy going to become 3 star chief? If so how is that even possible without even becoming Captain atleast.
Cause Hault is the man 😎
I wish we’d seen Holt become Commissioner, and seen a season or two showing his adventures changing the NYPD
I rolled my eyes a bit. I can't imagine it is remotely realistic that a Sergeant gets promoted to Chief just like that. But I guess its a tv thing.
@@backtoearth1983 Also Amy literally designed that program. Who else would you give a promotion to take active charge of something like that?!
At 0:39 Holts badge changes from a Deputy Commissioner back to Captain
Now with all the context, you can tell this was the moment he decided to leave the 99
i really hope the ongoing theory of jake leaving the force isn’t true. He loves being a detective so much and idk it would just feel like a sad ending
I just started watching the last season, I have never watched anything from this channel, and it pops in my recommended with a spoiler title... Thanks RUclips
Jakes going to quit isn’t he
Why?
@@jamssy3409 They’ve been building to it all season with these moments with Mac and Amy. So a lot of people think he’ll become a stay at home Dad
Quit or at the very least go on indefinete leave until Mac can handle himself.
They share a marital bed
The NYPD ranks have gotten much more confusing now
Quack
I wouldn't be surprised if Jake decides to become a fulltime parent for a while by the end of the season
They have full control
First he has a captains badge then 0:20 he has a deputy commissioner badge 0:40 he has a captains badge again
I want that kind of husband😃
the realism of this show went of the rails after season 5 lol
What's the realism in getting promoted anyway?
@@priyachoudhary9896 she literally goes from sergeant to chief without any tests simply because her captain decided, that's three strikes
The same as how holt could of went from captain to commissioner which is 3 jumps as well in season 5? 👀 🤡
Oooh jake is gonna become a stay at home father isnt he
Hope not
Let's get two things clear. I know I'm nitpicking but it's annoying to see such errors being made for affect.
lmao why do i always get random spoilers from the titles of these coming up in my FYP? The show wont be out for ages in the UK yet and i still know basically every major thing that's gonna happen lol
Will be on E4 in like 2 weeks my friend
I like Amy dancing👍
The way Jake reacted when Holt said Amy would get a promotion to Chief 🥰
