Thanks brother Rob! She’s a beaut. Wish I could have kept it but you know the drill. Never enough left after the holiday. I’m glad Mike is having all of these made. A plethora of options.
Thanks for the review! I have been curious about the handle size and shape at the front of the frame. Seems like a second iteration would benefit from slight ergonomic modifications, but it is a very fine looking and well made knife!
Most of the traditionals/modern traditionals you’re showing here come from Sheffield designs, but this Bolus is more like the German/Austrian heritage, like the Sodbusters. Take away the swedge and the finger groove and you’d have a sodbuster shape.
BOLUS..? STRANGE NAME FOR A KNIFE..!!! (In digestion, a bolus is a ball-like mixture of food and saliva that forms in the mouth during the process of chewing. It has the same color as the food being eaten, and the saliva gives it an alkaline pH. Under normal circumstances, the bolus is swallowed, and travels down the esophagus to the stomach for digestion. Wikipedia)
Growing up a "bolus" was a large pill given to cattle when working them. It was about 2" (huge for a pill) and nicely oblong. Of course we didn't have wiki-mess back then ;>

So nice.
Excellent review, Rob. Thanks.
Great review, especially with the size comparisons. I do believe the liners are titanium though...

What is your definition of "plunge line"?

There's a clip point available now too. I'm thinking of getting one. It makes my Bowie parts tingle.
