"In Your Room" is a Bangles video banger with a psychedelic Laugh-In like vibe. "Different Drum" with Matthew Sweet really shows the beauty of Susanna's voice. And the entire "Someday" album is sweet ear candy.
Just take a second and google "Susanna Hoffs then and now" ...She WAS and STILL IS one of the most beautiful women to ever grace this planet! (Oops sorry, I typed this out b4 your comments at the end, but it's still worth your time to check out how amazing she was then and still looks at age 65!)
Radically underrated band -- they were amazing musicians and performers, dismissed on account of being attractive women. Their cover of S&G's "Hazy Shade of Winter" is my favorite, but pretty much everything they sang was worth listening to.
You couldn't get away from this song in the 80s. It was a tremendous hit. I agree, production wise, it's magical. This band really has so much more to offer than Walk Like an Egyptian. You should also check them out live. They are legitimately talented. Their deep cuts are even better than the hits.
It came out in 1988. This was one of my favorite songs when i was in elementary and middle school in the early 90s I loved this song. Hearing it brings me back to my childhood
This song and video was almost inescapable when it released in the 80s. I always felt her voice had the right amount of tragedy in it to make this song the “banger” it was.
Some "experts" tend to look down on those years, especially when it comes to music. But how can they explain the unwavering popularity of bands like the Bangles or Bananarama? Well, they can't.
The Bangles version of The Hazy Shade of Winter from the Awesome movie "Less Than Zero" Rocks!! You should definitely checke dthat one out. It was a Simon and Garfunkel original but The Bangles brought if fro Folk to Rock and I think you'll appreciate it. I'm a Pro Sound Guy myself..
There are some chords that evoke nostalgia even if the song is unknown to you. It has happened to me often when a song I've never heard takes me back to a place and time I've never been. It's a sign of very good composition meant to evoke a certain feeling to connect you to a song.
Manic Monday (written by Prince) was their greatest hit...now that i mention Prince....i dont know if you also react on audio only songs. If so i would request (with christmas around the corner) the song Another lonely Xmas (extend version) by Prince
Susanna Hoffs was my Crush in my early 20's and since we were both born in 1959, I still Crush on her, She looks great turning 66 in January, I love your Reactions Seton Hill
I think it makes you feel like a kid because it is real singing, a warm voice singing directly into the microphone, where you can hear her breath and the humanity of a singer, something we no longer get to hear in modern music. The way music is made now, everything is manipulated, corrected, and dehumanized...and great singers' voices can be ruined when they are pitch-corrected or autotuned unnecessarily, which can make them sound worse. Then people who can't sing are electronically made to sound like they can (though no one is fooling me). When you hear real, down-to-earth artistry from the past, it sounds cozy and real and familiar.
🇬🇧 A HUGE hit back in the day! Susanna has a great voice, and this song really lets the listener know just how far she can go vocally. Very nice reaction 👍🎼🎶🫂♥️
Haha, what you're feeling is the 'Susanna Hoffs Effect', this lady had some freaky supernatural powers or something, that's why every man, woman and child fell in love with her, lol. She made you feel things you couldn't explain. ✌❤
Back in my teenage years Susanna Hoffs, (lead singer) had a death grip on my heart. And she's still breathtaking, in her 60's. But now, in my early 50's, my heart belongs entirely to Micki Steele, the bass player.
Yeah man,you can't reference intimacy while Susanna hoffs angelic vocals are soaring thru the air!ill be swooning the rest of the day now.thanks, man,I really need that.haha
Totally takes me back to the 80's. It came out just after I graduated high school (1984) in '87 or '88. While working at an ambulance service, the video would come on MTV in the breakroom and all the guys would rush in to watch Sussanah Hoffs and the other gals. LOL
Bangles all girl band hit at the right time, at the start of MTV when all they did was actually show music videos hosted by a small group of "veejays". Susan Hoffs really shows her lead singing prowness. This whole album is a banger IMO. Check out Manic Mondays.
And hearing this song was wonderful....I love the melody, and the message is one of the first time you have someone that truly loves you .....heart to heart. "Manic Monday"...you may have already heard it, but if not...that is my pick:) Thanks again for this song...Susanna Hoffs WROTE this song (with 2 other song writers)...maybe it was from the heart?
Hi Steven! You are definitely in my top 2 of my favorite reaction videos and contrary to @Dizjake, I loved this reaction! This song is from 1988 and was my wedding song. It's absolutely beautiful and I love this choice. My favorite thing about you is when a song hits the climatic part, you can genuinely see the excitement in your eyes and face, it's awesome! You're so awesome! One of my other favorites from the Bangles is "If She new what she wants" although I'm not sure if Dizjake would agree. He was rude and his entire comment upset me, just because he didn't like the song he didn't need to be so rude and I'm apologizing for him. Godspeed ❤
Enjoyed your reaction. I was 16 when this song came out, and it was a massive hit. MTV played the video incessantly. The video was a number one hit on Dial MTV and MTV's Top 20 Video Countdown. Radio stations had the song on heavy rotation. Lol... It was everywhere.
Prince was extremely smitten with lead singer Susannah Hoffs, and wrote their hit "Main Monday" for her. However, to me the penultimate Bangles song is their cover of Jules Shear and the Polar Bears" "If She Knew What She Wants." It is power pop at its finest. On an unrelated note, I enjoy the heck out of your reactions. It's like experiencing songs I take for granted for the first time again (maybe because we're both follicle-challenged drummers?) But I've noticed a disappointing trend in reaction videos - someone will post something and suddenly everyone else is "discovering" it. If you'd like to beat this trend and give some exposure to some great music by somewhat lesser-known artists (and get hit hard in the feels at the same time) I have some suggestions for you; I've spent my life expressing emotions through music, and it's become more prevalent since I became almost completely blind about 15 years ago (another story for another time.) Some of these would be my contenders for the greatest songs ever written. Big Star - Thirteen This Mortal Coli - Song of the Siren Concrete Blonde - Everybody Knows Concrete Blonde - Tomorrow, Wendy Steve Earle and the Dukes - Saint of Lost Causes (his son originally wrote and performed the song, and died of a dug overdose - if you watch the live version it will wrench your soul) Beat Farmers - Hollywood Hills Warren Zevon - Bill Lee Sonia Dada - I'm Gone (from the Lay Down and Love It Live album) Beth Hart and Joe Bonnamassa - I'd Rather Go Blind (live version) Tyler Childers - Nose to the Grindstone Devil Makes Three - Angel of Death Amigo the Devil - 24k Casket That'll do for a start - I'll hush now.
I’m going off topic because I recently got turned on to some wild stuff. Since you seem to like stuff that’s unique and a bit different. There are songs by popular bands as if they were done in the 50’s for examples. The Led Zeppelins, The Deep Purples, and The Black Sabbaths. It’s all pretty wild and I think you might get a kick out of checking it out. There are a few others but take Iron Man from Sabbath for example. They’re normally whole albums so you have to ff thru songs to get to specific songs, but definitely cool.
Steven, you're one of my top 3 favorite reactions nowadays but let me tell you, I'm upset with this pick. The Bangles have so many amazing rocking top 10 hits and you pick to slowest most boring song they have. I'm highly disappointed in this video. As a matter of fact I'm not going to watch this one. I'll wait until you do one of their other amazing songs. See ya next reaction.

Such an amazing vocal performance! What should I check out next from them?!
The reason why this song is so good…. it’s from the 80’s. No other explanation required
There will never be another generation like mid 70’s to 89. Best musical Era.
"Hazy shade of Winter" "In your room" "Manic Monday" you will not be disappointed!
I love " in your room" .I like singng " in my womb" coz they are are..uh,you know
In your room is such an underrated song of theirs... Love it ❤
"In Your Room" is a Bangles video banger with a psychedelic Laugh-In like vibe. "Different Drum" with Matthew Sweet really shows the beauty of Susanna's voice. And the entire "Someday" album is sweet ear candy.
Susanna Hoffs hit a high gear with this one. Sweet, beautiful voice!

Very true, I had a massive crush on Susanna Hoffs after seeing them from the front row as the opening act on tour in 1984.
YES, this is an awesome song and her voice is so beautiful! O.K., now you have to go directly to A Hazy Shade Of Winter...GO!
Susanna Hoffs was so gorgeous ❤ My teenage crush 😍
Everyone had a crush on susannah in the eighties.
Hell...40 years later, and I still have a crush on her!
When I hear Susanna Hoffs my heart and mind just melt.
This is my absolute favorite by them!
I recommend their "Hazy Shade of Winter" 👍
Radically underrated band -- they were amazing musicians and performers, dismissed on account of being attractive women. Their cover of S&G's "Hazy Shade of Winter" is my favorite, but pretty much everything they sang was worth listening to.
Their cover of Hazy Shade of Winter was also awesome.
Susanna Hoffs is still performing & putting out music. Her 5th solo album was released last year. She still looks beautiful too.
Yeah she really has no business still being that beautiful at her age now
1988 release.
They were overlooked at times but came on strong at that time.
I love Bangles ❤ I think this song is from 1988 🤔 not quite sure but I was at that time 17 or 18 ...wow !! You threw me back man !!!! ❤

This song by the way young man was recorded 1988 released as a single January 23 of 1989 which was three days after my 27th birthday
It came out in 1988. This was one of my favorite songs when i was in elementary and middle school in the early 90s I loved this song. Hearing it brings me back to my childhood
Next up should be their cover of “Hazy Shade of Winter”. Shorting but they really rock out on it. 🎸
You know what's a fun fact about this young man this song she recorded it in the studio yes no joke naked God I wish I was in the studio that day
What?! 🤣😂
This song and video was almost inescapable when it released in the 80s.
I always felt her voice had the right amount of tragedy in it to make this song the “banger” it was.
Susanna Hoffs has it all, talent. power and beauty and the other 3 not less, just beautiful.
This song was it for me when I was in my late teens. I was in love with Susanna Hoffs.
Some "experts" tend to look down on those years, especially when it comes to music. But how can they explain the unwavering popularity of bands like the Bangles or Bananarama? Well, they can't.
My favorite Bangles song. I LOVE Susanna Hoffs.😍😝😈
I graduated high school back in the 80's you couldn't turn on the radio and not hear this song 👍

80s music is pure magic!
Hazy Shade of Winter (adore the music video version); Manic Monday; In your room; If she knew what she wants... some other great Bangles' tunes.
🇬🇧

I see you. In fact, I've ALWAYS loved Micki Steele. I love her mysterious beauty.
@paulopinheirosc I could listen to her singing "Following" all day.
Zach Galifianakis' 'Comedy Central Special' interpretive dance to this song is really fun.
That sounds wild! 🤣
Listen to Manic Monday. Quintessential Bangles. Great reaction Steven!
They were heavily influenced by the Beatles, their harmonies, use of Rickenbacker guitars, and so on. It's an 80s song with a 60s influence.
Every boy in the 80's: You mean Susanna Hoffs sings too? I never noticed :p .
Haha 😂
Tis the season for “Hazy Shade Of Winter”. Originally done by Simon and Garfunkel, but I definitely like the Bangles cover much better. 🎄✌🏼😃
Susanna Hoffs is 65 (almost 66) now, and she's still cute.
I love your reactions.
Other great Bangles songs are Manic Monday or Hazy Shade of Winter.
Thanks so much! 😁
Forgot about this one. TY! ☮️❤️😎🎼
An Oldie I haven't heard for a long time. 😊
Thanks for reacting to it.
Yeah man,you can't reference intimacy while Susanna hoffs angelic vocals are soaring thru the air!ill be swooning the rest of the day now.thanks, man,I really need that.haha
Every time I hear this song it brings me back to the first time I drove my car solo when I had just turned 16. And yes, I just showed my age.😂
"If She Knew What She Wants" video.
You HAVE to react to their cover of Simon and Garfunkel's Hazy Shade of Winter
Love this song!!

Manic Monday is another good one to review
Manic monday is also a good one 😊
Manic Monday is great also
Susanna Hoff is gorgeous so I get all the crushing on her lol. You have to listen to Manic Monday, classic hit of theirs
That’s what I keep hearing! Thanks!

Beat Farmers - Hollywood Hills

Beth Hart and Joe Bonnamassa - I'd Rather Go Blind (live version)
Tyler Childers - Nose to the Grindstone

That'll do for a start - I'll hush now.

Great song with great vocal performances. I just wish they'd re-record the backing with either real strings or modern samples.
Another great female singer from the 80’s is Gloria Estefan

I'm glad you don't determine Stevens play list. Thank you Steven, this is definitely a musician lovers song.
@@boroblueyes Totally. Best Bangles song going!
