I just loved that old Church, the artwork of stone around the original main door is magnificent. The mausoleum was enormous and most walls still standing. The large Georgian house would have been magnificent when first built, the interior decoration and furnishings one could only imagine being beautiful. Sadly history again destroyed so many beautiful buildings. Thank you for braving the strong wind again to show us this, it is a beautiful part of Ireland. The Irish people certainly look after their loved ones who are no longer with us. Thank you Sue 💕🇦🇺
I enjoyed that drive through the Irish countryside. Very inspiring. Those stone walls create a sense of peace and take the mind back to an age when people lived in harmony with nature.
As a descendent of the St George French family. Thank you very much for putting this beautiful story together and sharing pictures so our family can stay in touch with the past history
I'm also also a distant relative of St George French, as a teenager I spent Many great days wildfowl shooting in the surroundings of the estate, sad history but all empires come to an end ?.....they had vineyards and the very famous oyster beds , but ended up living in the basement.
You know, Sue, when you knocked on the mausoleum door, I was half expecting to hear a replying knock!! Now, that WOULD be quite the experience!! LOVE your logo at the beginning of the video, by the way!! XXXX
Sir John Benjamin was the English Poet laureate from the early 70's. How wonderful to see his work, devoted to the St George family. I'm astonished at how well the remains of the Church have stood up to the precarious Western Irish weather. The short stone walls make the Province a joy to drive around.
I love the Video a whole new way to bing the dead back to life you showed us where their remains are intruded th3en showing us their old house thank you much loved seeing it
WOWWWW AMAZING SUE THOSE STONES HOLD ALOTA HISTORY AND MEMORY , GREAT IDEA WITH THE TOUR AROUND THE AREA AND IRELAND TOO ALOTA FOLKS AND ME LOVE THAT GDAY TO YA LUVVV 😁😁
Hi Sue. I wish I had your breeze. 90 F here and so humid. Your cemeteries, your country are absolutely stunning. Thank you for allowing me to smile. I would jump on a plane but I wouldn't get a tour guide half as good as you.
Beautiful country! Those stone walls are cool! The church ruins and graveyard are beautiful, the grounds need a little care. The mausoleum is awesome! Rather large mausoleum for only two people. Too bad you could not get a look inside. The old house must have been grand in its heyday. This was an awesome video Sue, and GV. Thank you very much for sharing. Have a great day. 😊
@SerenitySueGraveyards Thank you very much for getting back to me. Do you think that, the old house could be possibly restored, or would the cost make it impractical?
@@SerenitySueGraveyards You are probably right about it costing a fortune. Still, it would be grand to see it restored to it's old glory. Thank you very much again Sue, for getting back to me, and for your patience with my questions. Take care 🙂
Hey Sue, another great video. The church remains n mausoleum were fascinating; Im always impressed by these older structures. It makes me wonder, looking at the stone framing, what it looked like in all its glory with the stained glass windows in place, etc. Thanks also for the ride along the side streets so we could see the stone walls up close, thats something Ireland (n Galway) is famous for. Very envious, since ive never been there lol! Thankx again :)
You could ask your hubby to cart a ladder back to the mausoleum window Sue, lol! I'd love to see inside. Even though they couldn't be read, I still prefer the old headstones over the newer ones. They have more character methinks. I think there is some kind of buffer thingy you can use to help with the wind in the mic. Many thanks from an Aussie Celt.
Ye I kinda love the old too, ye I'm like you far too curious, would have loved to seen inside 🍀🇮🇪❤️ I've looked in shops here for a wind sock, buffer but no look, looks like I'll have to go online and try 😁
It would be lovely to see some couple start a restoration on Tyrone House, and they could make it a DIY show for television. There's the couple that restored the French mansion, so it wouldn't be unprecedented. If I had money instead of good looks and a happy marriage, I would do it! 😉
😅 Ahh Jim.. Oh that's Dick and Angela, he'd be the man for the job now, you'd need a lift in that house the thoughts of carrying the washing back up the stairs would kill me 😂😂 I'd much rather a church to restore and make it a home 😜🤔
@@SerenitySueGraveyards You know what they say, Sue - If you can afford a house like that, you can afford having someone do the laundry for you! Of course, with all those rooms, you could put the laundry in the upstairs. I could plan it all in my head, but I, as Donovan said, may as well try and catch the wind.
@@SerenitySueGraveyards That makes sense. It was just a bit of a shocker that instead of tearing the church down they buried some people there instead. I think this is the second (?) one you've shown us like this.

The west of Ireland is full of these little back roads and small stone walls, so beautiful
That was very beautiful. Ashame they could not save that home. Thank You.
Thanks Susan ❤️🇮🇪😍🍀
@@SerenitySueGraveyards PS is it always that windy in Ireland?
Not always but generally wet and windy 😢

@SerenitySueGraveyards Thank you very much for getting back to me. Do you think that, the old house could be possibly restored, or would the cost make it impractical?
So many have become abandoned here, not sure but I'd imagine it would cost a fortune

Thank you, yes it's something else ❤️🍀🇮🇪
Another wonderful video, just love the old churchs, much history.
Thank you ❤️🇮🇪🍀
Also another windy day! 💨🌬
Love the archway into the church with the designs. More great footage. Ide say the small arch was a window. Pity you couldn't read the tombs.
It's so open to the weather there, it just destroys the writing, thanks Fran ❤️🍀🇮🇪

How do they get buried inside the ruins of the church? The land has to belong to someone right? Thank you Sue ❤.
It's not the first of its kind that I've seen, the St. George's owed most of the land around so maybe they had some pull in those parts ❤️🇮🇪🍀
