The Embraer NEW C-390 Will Change The Aviation Industry and Destroy C-130J! Here's Why
The C1 30 J Super Hercules, renowned for its unparalleled versatility and reliability, has been a cornerstone of military transport for decades, offering enhanced performance with state-of-the-art technology, faster climb and cruise speeds, and the ability to operate in diverse and austere environments worldwide. But, as tempting as it sounds, in this video, we are not going to talk about it but another aircraft that is going to dethrone it, the Embraer C3 90. Find out in this episode of Flig Avia: why C3 90 is going to change the industry? How it will destroy C 1 30 J?

The Embraer NEW C-390 Will Change The Aviation Industry and Destroy C-130J! Here's Why
First up, To grasp the significance of the C3 nineties popularity, it's essential to revisit Embraer's history with military jets. Embraer, a prominent Brazilian company known for manufacturing a variety of aircraft, pivoted in 19 69 to concentrate on military aircraft for the Brazilian Air Force. In April 2007, Embraer announced its intention to develop a midsize twinjet military aircraft, with the goal of replacing aging cargo planes with a modern, technologically advanced alternative. The inspiration for this new aircraft was drawn heavily from their Embraer 1 90. Originally designated as the C 3 90, the aircraft was subsequently renamed to KC 3 90 to reflect its capability to perform air-to-air refueling operations for other planes.
The Embraer NEW C-390 Will Change The Aviation Industry and Destroy C-130J! Here's Why
By May 2008, the Brazilian government had invested over 460 million dollars in its development. Come April 2009, Embraer secured a 1.5 billion dollar contract to construct two prototypes, initiating production with the backing of the Brazilian Air Force. Following rigorous testing of the prototypes, the aircraft, dubbed the C390 Millennium, was unveiled in 20 19. It was strategically designed to contend with, and potentially supplant, Lockheed Martin's C1 30 Super Hercules cargo jets-a significant feat considering the C1 thirties longstanding prominence in the aviation market. Embraer's jet had to prove its mettle as a viable primary option for military cargo transportation, and with the C3 90 Millennium, Embraer has done just that.
Embraer is breaking paradigms with its aircraft. Before, no one, other than Americans and Europeans, entered the very closed market of the aeronautical industry. The KC-390 was designed in the 21st century and was born under the patronage of modernity. The brave C-130 Hercules has become a legendary and consolidated machine, but it falls short of what is required of an average freighter today. Embraer's biggest challenge in offering the KC-390s to the world will be overcoming the very powerful American lobby in the defense industry.

😂😂😂 Airbus c400 is the best, kc390 is for poor countries
@@frederickdouglass7140 Is the C-17 Globemaster III superior to the Air Bus C-400? It depends on the application. The C-400 is another category of aircraft. The time is for more rational, economical aircraft, without unnecessary excesses. The era of megalomania for flying colossi is long gone. In practice, the KC-390 does everything an A-400 does, however, with extremely lower acquisition and maintenance costs. The choice for the KC-390 is not passionate, it is rational.
@@frederickdouglass7140 In fact, I must emphasize: what a comment, but devoid of arguments, yours. Stupid, I would say. Debate with solid and intelligent arguments and not with prejudices and fallacies. Your comment really is an X-ray of your intellect, of your inability to interact at a high level.
@@frederickdouglass7140 The A400M from Airbus, you mean. The German air force did not even accept delivery at first given the bad quality product it is.
I watched a video where this Embraer is used to put out forest fires by releasing a large amount of water. Impressive versatility.
Yeah thanks for your feedback ✈️
The C-130 isn't going anywhere. One of the strongest points about the C-130 is its speed. Its ability to fly slow is the very reason it's used for so many different types of missions. I've been on a C-130 that made a night landing on a dried up lake bed with the pilots using night vision goggles. If they're after speed, fly a C-141. If they're after payload, fly a C-5M Super Galaxy or a C-17 Globemaster.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Amazing
It’s impressive how Embraer has developed the C-390 to meet modern military needs.
🛫🛫
Embraer’s history in military aviation has clearly prepared them well for developing the C-390.
This militar aircraft has worked hard since the beginning! By the way, Embraer can configure it for civil option!
It moved a giant helicopter disassembled from USA to Portugal, supported people in state of Brazil after rain storm moving a lot of things like foods, clothes, people, tools, etc..
This is why it must exist!
Thanks for all information!
Congratulations.
Thanks for your support ✈️✈️✈️ have a nice day
@newconcept8144 Mate, have you seen what the C-130J, G-5 Galaxy, and C-17 have all carried.
The RNZAF C-130H is an aircraft in service for over 60-63 years.
The RNZAF C-130H carried out missions carrying troops, refugees, supplies, weapons, food, medical supplies, vehicles, and a lot more all the way across the world from a small nation that is not even shown on most maps.
The RNZAF C-130H flew consistently 13,554 kilometers with close to 10-19 tons of cargo. The NZDF is receiving 5 new C-130-J-30 super Hercules, and that will make us have much more reach to help other nations when in need.
The narration repeats itself annoyingly. It never did a thorough comparison with the C-130. It uses terms like "more effective" without giving actual data. This is bogus.
That's an ai generated text.
C130..rolling down the strip..airborne daddy..gonna take a trip..❤AIRBORNE!
Both will fly together for a long time. That´s the beauty of the aviation.
Apparently, they missed the reason why the C130 is still being used. Prop driven aircraft are inherently safer to operate on unimproved airfields. Less chance to damage the engines. We use C17s for heavier loads from improved fields. Why add another airframe?
US will never buy an foreign freighter due to US laws, but others countries will.
The C-390’s performance in rigorous testing is a testament to its reliability and capability.

Gotta love the ten positive comments in a row, all lgged in at almost the same time.😂
The detailed comparison between the C-390 and C-130J in this episode was eye-opening. Embraer has done an outstanding job.
which one do you prefer?
🇧🇷❤
The air-to-air refueling capability of the C-390 gives it a significant edge.
Embraer’s focus on modern, technologically advanced alternatives is commendable.
yep you're right
The C-130 and AC-130 have had plenty of tech upgrades themselves over the last number of years.
@@Lonewolfmike But even so, they remain outdated compared to the KC-390.
The C-130 has been fulfilling missions for about 60 years, with many variations and many generations, and it has proven itself time and time again. Let's give the C-390 about 10 years of evaluation time and real world missions (both peacetime and wartime) to determine if it will "dethrone" the C-130. As I recall, Airbus tried to assume that role with the A-400M, starting about 10 years ago. I'm not sure that's on track for Airbus.
I'm all for replacing old and obsolete equipment, but those replacements need to be better, not just different. The C-390 speed (max: 988 km/h, cruise: 870 km/h) is a nice improvement. Certainly better than the C-130 speed (max: 590 km/h, cruise: 540 km/h). And the additional 7 tons of cargo capacity (26,000 kg vs. 19,000kg) is always welcomed. For the C-390, I'd like to see the results of STOL testing and the ability to do a LAPES drop. I'd also be interested in how those engines perform after sucking up a cloud of dust and sand during a short landing on a semi-improved dirt or sand runway.
Oh, and Loadmasters do more than just lower the tailgate, so I seriously doubt that the C-390 has rendered the role of Loadmaster unnecessary. That is like saying, "the pilot can turn a bolt, thereby rendering a maintenance ground crew unnecessary". Those Loadmasters and ground crews do SO much more. Interestingly, about 40 seconds after making that statement about making Loadmasters unnecessary because the pilot can lower the tailgate, you indicate that the aircraft is manned by a 3-person crew: a pilot, co-pilot, and Loadmaster. So. . .which is it?
Tomara que os EUA não invente algo para arruinar o sucesso do KC 390

Embraer stepping up their game with the C-390. This aircraft has the potential to revolutionize military transport.

It is a box with things. Not much to revolutionize. That being said, it looks like a pretty impressive box with wings.
The versatility and advanced design of the C-390 make it a formidable competitor. Exciting times ahead for aviation!

the owner of the video kicked a nest of American patriots
The C-130 was a stop gap in 1956 to fill the need until the C-133 and new C-141A came on line. So, almost 70 years-old and still in production with more jobs that Carter has liver pills. It's not going off line anytime soon.

The aviation industry seems to adhere to the same philosophy as mechanics.... It's only a temporary fix unless it works, then it's permanent. 😂
Embraer, Brasil ❤❤❤
Embraer’s history with military jets shows in the C-390. This aircraft is built for the future.

Amazing and beautiful aircraft. The best in this category. 👍

Investing over $460 million in the C-390 shows how committed Brazil is to advancing its aviation industry.
That's about the price of 2 airplanes. Not a big deal. More like a jobs project.
What the C-130 will still do: double as a weapons platform for Harvest Hawk and Rapid Dragon. The C-130J has a range of 3300 km while the loaded C390 max range is 2100 km. The 130 will have a standoff capability to launch multiple cruise missiles at any Pacific adversary. It is a practical, cost-effective platform for the next 20 years. After that, the C-390 will be viable competitor.
Thanks for your comment. Useful knowledge.
The unveiling of the C-390 Millennium in 2019 marked a pivotal moment in military aviation. Embraer's dedication to innovation is evident in this state-of-the-art aircraft.
Austria and the Netherlands have just signed the purchase of 9 units to be operated jointly between the two countries.
Embraer's history with military jets is impressive, and the C-390 Millennium is a testament to their expertise and innovation. This aircraft is set to revolutionize military transport.
They act like the c130 can't be air refueled.
Ok, look, the C130 IS THE KING...PERIOD!
C130s have been flying since 1955. Yes, at some time or another, they will be stood down and replaced by something. But before you start rah-rahing to much, put your plane in service and let's see where we are in a couple decades.

Some Americans in the comments just felt the hit... Relax, you are still number one and will be for a long time. Despite all the issues and problems here, we Brazilians still have things to be proud of. A third-world country like ours, competing in technology with the most powerful nation in the world, is something we all should applaud, even you guys. A lot of the knowledge we have, we learned from you. And remember, Brazilians are your allies, not enemies.

Hey my friend, I thought you'd be interested in my take on this. I flew C-130Es in the USAF for almost 9 years. I'm a fan of the J model, but never flew it. Having said that, I find the C-390 to be a potentially outstanding machine! You see, the basic C-130 design has realized it's full potential with the J model. Don't get me wrong, it's still an excellent design that will be flying for many years to come. However, when the USAF decides to start replacing the J model, I'm hoping that it will be a completely different design. I'm not sure when that will be, as the J models rolling off the assembly line have decades of service life ahead of them. I honestly loved flying the Herc (even the old E model), but there are other excellent designs out there that are potentially better. The C-390 is one of those. It will take time to prove itself though, as the C-130 has clearly demonstrated it's capabilities for nearly 70 years. To close, I applaud Brazil and Embraer on producing an excellent and beautiful design, and wish it success.
Cheers
I think everyone just wants to hear some facts and to be allowed to make a decision based on the facts, not some sales pitch and "its better and I'm not giving any facts to show it is better".
Let the people decide based on some facts. C-130 is old but there's a reason it's still flying and has a fanbase.
Would love to see a breakdown of turbofan vs turboprop and why one is better than the other in this situation. "faster" isn't really what people are looking for. If we wanted a C130 with turbofans, they'd have built one. There's a reason why it has turboprops. What is the reasoning for turbofan on the KC390?
more data! more info! :)
This aircraft is amazing, Portuguese air Force got the first one in service and you can see it shutting back and forth between Lisbon cam and Madeira
yep that's a great aircraft
The C-390’s design and features are impressive. This could be a real contender.
The Embraer C-390 Millennium is truly a game-changer! Its advanced technology and capabilities make it a strong contender to replace the legendary C-130J. Can't wait to see how it performs in various missions.
The pilot can control the cargo bay therefore they don't need a loadmaster? I thought a loadmaster did more than just flip a switch. This seems more like a promotional video for Embraer. The first flight of the C-130 was 70 years ago, can the C-390 achieve that?
Embraer built an jet trainer in the 60s that was so cheap and reliable that it only was retired from the Brazilian Air Force due to the Grippen NG program, but others countries still use it, and remember, Embraer is the third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world.
@@C0lon0
I'm not trying to trash on them as it looks pretty cool, but this is almost like comparing apples to oranges.
OK. I've listened to your video on the specifications of the hot selling C390.
I have a problem, what is the shortest unimproved landing strip that it can land on. In comparing the C130 to the C390 you failed to mention that. To be useful it would have to be shorter than a C130 landing strip. You put a lot of emphasis on how much the C390 haul in terms of cargo and people. If that were the requirement, we would use something more like a C17.
I will keep this question in mind. Thank you.
With the Brazilian government's substantial investment and the rigorous testing of the C-390 prototypes, it's clear that this aircraft is built to excel. Looking forward to seeing it in action.
The comparison between the C-390 and the C-130J is very insightful.

There may be some applications where there is no substitute for 4 engines, but otherwise, the Embraer is a truly impressive aircraft!

The journey of the C-390, from its initial announcement to its production, highlights Embraer's commitment to delivering top-notch military aircraft. This is just the beginning for the C-390.
Not so fast. Don't see that happening for quite a while. Reasons are too many to list here.

Whoever had the idea of a name for this jet is a PR master: KC meaning from the very start that it's not only a cargo plane, 390 is 3 X 130 and finally the Millennium, meaning the project not only belongs to the 21st century but also reminds of the most badass of the fictional ships, the Millennium Falcon.
The rigorous testing and development of the C-390 Millennium have clearly paid off.

Sou brasileiro. Um dos poucos orgulhos que estamos tendo em nosso país hoje é a Embraer.
I certainly prefer the Airbus A400M as it is a Turbo-prop aircraft for which the engine maintenance cost is way lower than any jet engine, it also cost a lot less in fuel and has a better range under same MTOW than the C-390. It lands in and take off from shorter runways which enable it to almost land and take off from about any land strip. Its payload is way better under any configuration. It has a better range under any weight (10, 20, 30 tons). The price of a C-390 is definitely way higher as it is a jet.
I know how competent the Portuguese Air Force are delivering military transport, praised frequently by its NATO allies. If they chose Embraer C-390 to replace their C-130 Hercules, then it must be a great aircraft.

yep
The Brazilian Air Force has already proven this to other military forces and the Portuguese Air Force is also doing this. In Brazil, its performance and savings in maintenance were so great that they accelerated the retirement of the C130 and ended up reducing the order for the 390 as it is so capable that fewer aircraft will be needed. There are nations begging to receive theirs as soon as possible due to the difficulty in operating their C130s. So much so that the first prototype that today flies as a laboratory in the Brazilian Air Force must be loaned until the customer starts receiving their 390.
It has already happened, both the Brazilian and Portuguese air forces use the C130 and C390, the comparison has always occurred.
Lockheed doesn’t have anything to worry about.

You should do a side by side comparison of C-390 and C130J. Speed, capacity - weight and volume , minimum runway needed, ability to land on unpaved landing strips and high altitude landing strips.
Emphasis should be made on "the minimum runway needed and the ability to land on unpaved landing strips". For anything else the US already has the C17.

The versatility of the C-390 is going to make a big impact in military transport.

Por que o c390 não vai substituir o c130? Para começar, a embraer não tem envergadura para produção em larga escala. Não mais. Depois, é um produto com concorrentes fortes.
