- From January 15, 1973. The Dolphins first Super Bowl win with an unbeaten 17-0 season. Perfection. This is the only footage of this show in existence. It was recorded on a Sony B&W reel to reel VTR in the newsroom. No quad color tape machines were available because of commercial playback. Unbelievable nobody but me recorded this historic event. Sorry for the marginal audio track. No highlights are shown due to NFL rights restrictions. The show was produced by The Sandy Tinsley Ad Agency, Miami. Rick Shaw, voice over announcer. Sponsored by Holsom Bread and Eastern Airlines.
That is little Robbie Rist doing MacDonald commercial about a year before he debuted on the Brady Bunch as cousin Oliver .
I remember watching the show. I specifically remember this program. We were so happy Miami won the Super Bowl...
The painting used in the beginning of the show was a painting that my father ( Zac Zaccardi )did for Shula when he was man of the year..
Hi Mark, my name is Jaime Ziadie and my brother Tex brought a PRICELESS painting of Narcissus & Echo (from Greek Mythology) from a lady with the last name of Zaccardi (not sure of the first name). This was in Miami Springs many years ago, where I grew up and my brother lived at the time. We still have and very much treasure that painting!
Jaime Ziadie Hi Jaime thank you for contacting me is it possible to send a picture of the painting. Thank you
@@zacc19 Yes, but I can't take a picture of it until tomorrow. Do you want me to text or email it to you?
@@djzbop thanks no hurry. I posted a picture of the portrait on my Facebook page my father did it for Shula and it was also used on the cover of the Miamian Magazine FB. page is my name
@@zacc19 I just sent you a friend request on FB. Great artist must run in your family. BEAUTIFUL Artwork on your page.
Great historic upload. Thank you for sharing this moment in time. A shame we can not see more programs of this nature.
Pretty amazing show Chuck...and you had the foresight to save it!! wow.
rip don shula youll be sadly missed greatest nfl coach of all time us dolphin fans are gutted!
Thank you so much for posting this
Awesome! I missed this show as it aired on my birthday! 🎂 Those commercials bring back memories too!
Raise your hand if you got to live this out Live up close and personal 👍 Miami Palmetto 78 ✌️ RIP Coach Shula 🙏
I can still Smell The Bakery in South Miami 😁
Now this is a lost treasure.
The Miami Football Dolphins....still remember that game like it was yesterday...after they scored the first touchdown I stood up and told my Dad, this game is over! And got on my bike and rode to the local store for a candy bar and soda.
Gotta love it!
we had 3 of the best Running Backs in the NFL - almost mystical how that happened
better than o.j lol
I remember sitting on my couch with my Dad as a 15 year old boy watching the SB...when the Dolphins scored the first TD I stood up and announced to my Dad that this game is over.
+steve Fowler and then you got on your bike and rode it to a local store for a candy bar and a soda

5:45 those 3rd graders have more knowledge of US history than the average Ivy League student today. I'm not kidding.
That's Joe Croghan [1921-95], not Rogan. Joe was the Dolphins' radio announcer during the 1970 season before he was replaced by Rick Weaver; prior to that, he was a sportscaster in Baltimore, where he also did play-by-play for the Orioles and Colts.
Greatest team ever!
Superb.
I remember this wining streak. It was quite a years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The team showed up hungover New Orleans and got beat down Statistics still stand to thys day,But Shula was determined the next year !
It was really nice to see Coach Shula reconize Earl Morral. He is really the Quarterback that took the team to the superbowl... I know because i carried Bob's bag from his car into the Orange bowl at every home game..
Its when America was pure
No. We weren't pure. We just didn't focus on the B.S.
Awesome footage!!!! Go Fins!!!!
Eastern Airlines? Before Southwest Airlines. Ha,
If the goal post didnt deflect the ball it would've been a whole other game.
Where are more Don Shula Shows from local Miami affiliate WPLG local 10 with past 70 & 80's DS shows? Don't tell me the NFL has a handle on that too on RUclips?!
Bipbop66 I would imagine it has more to do with finding existing videotapes of the shows. Local affiliates rarely saved taped programming because videotape was expensive, and many recorded programs were simply erased. Since this is black and white this is obviously an archive tape that somehow survived. There may be programs that people taped off TV on their VCR, but not many people had VCRs until at least the early 80s.
Eastern doesn't even exist anymore
Chuck Stewart takes himself too seriously..
Cool even better being honored at the White House on Tuesday
STOP being jealous and in denial. I guess anything in sports doesn't matter before 1975. Hank Aaron, Jim Brown, Joe Louis, Babe Ruth, Wilt Chamberlain, Lou Gehrig, Willie Mays. I get it. Miami being 32-2 for two season's is no big deal. Thanks.
Miami an the 70 colts r probably the 2 weakest teams to win the superbowl, very weak league in 72
+John anthony Hey John. I'd appreciate you and most everyone else to stop ripping my '72 Dolphins. We did it with a backup QB for nine games and why are you so jealous? Who's your team? Happy New Year!
Hey i just love football an my team stinks never won 1 super bowl .I am not a miami hater at all just that the nfl was weak in the early 70s an the 73 dolphins were better an the 84 dolphins were better than both of them .1989 49ers r the best team i ve ever seen for one year,1985 bears second.Almost like saying floyd mayweather the best ever cause he didnt lose. Leonard ,Hearns,Duran,an Pryor would have all beat him, dominance is the key to a great great football team.
+John anthony It's cool. Who's your team John? '84 Niners were great. Best defense '76 Pitt. Great stuff.
+J72dolphins lol my team been the eagles but its just not getting done😡
+John anthony There's been tons of easy schedules in history, yet only one has gone undefeated against those schedules. And typically, a team that has lost just one or two games in a season, loses to teams that are vastly inferior (by record at least). The 1984 49ers (15-1) lost to the 9-7 Steelers. The 2003 Pats (14-2) lost to two terrible teams in the Bills and Skins (both with losing records). The 2004 Pats (14-2) lost to the 4-12 Dolphins! The 2010 Pats (14-2) lost to the freakin Browns. The 1990 49ers (14-2) lost to the 5-11 Rams. The 1992 Cowboys (13-3, yet considered the best of that dynasty) lost to the 5-11 Rams.
So the schedule argument is moot. And the 2007 Pats couldn't close it out against a vastly inferior Giants team. How is that better than going undefeated and having to win a road playoff game against the Steelers?
