People seem to forget Minzy was 2NE1's second rapper since their first mini album. She didn't rap much in their last releases but she slayed some verses at the beginning of her career. Just listen to "Stay Together" and "Pretty Boy".

Jeanette Tan I have always loved minzy she was my first bias when I first found out about 2ne1 untill I fell in love with bom voice. I have always thought she had a beautiful RNB voice she can also dance and rap. I like her more than CL
Technically, Minzy has more advanced skills compared to other 2ne1 members. Vocally, though Park Bom has the outsanding tone that can't be found in Korea, Minzy is TECHNICALLY better because of her ability to connect notes from chest voice to head voice while maintaining the power up there. Park Bom has that ability but she said it herself that she's not comfortable singing in head voice. In dancing, though CL has shown incredible ability during her pre-debut and early debut days, there is no question that Minzy is the ace of this department because of her smooth and effortless flow to the rhythm. As for the rap, I would say Minzy can also rival CL on this department but we can't really tell because she wasn't really given many rap lines unlike CL. Minzy is like a chameleon. Her versatility is on another level!
@Ji0 for the record, Bom can support higher because of her naturally high-pitched voice. She sounds like a light soprano while Minzy has the mezzo-soprano color so it's pointless to compare them by tessitura. I still stand by my claim that Minzy is TECHNICALLY better because again, she shows more comfort in using her head voice (Unnies) than Bom plus her ability to transition from chest to mixed without sounding too 'heady' is just seamless (KOMS). As for Bom, her mixed are chest-dominant to the point that it sometimes makes her strain above D5. She's used to bringing her chest voice up and as a hardcore Beyhive, my girl Beyonce taught us that it's not a good vocal investment simply because it's damaging in the long run. Another point to consider here, Minzy was young back then and so was Bom but the difference is that Minzy has improved a lot in her technical vocals over the years while Bom sadly abused her voice with YG's teaching. I would blame YG because Minzy herself just recently 'recovered' from nasal singing after leaving YG which means that her former company Music Works or even the reality show Unnies must've been teaching her the right technique.
P.S.: I love Bom ever since and she's also the reason why I started stanning mamamoo because they're friends lol But let's talk about pure vocal techniques and utilization here.
@@ZeePark21 Minzy has decent amount of rap lines during 2ne1's early years and Minzy's and CL's skills were almost the same in rapping. But towards the end CL got all the rap parts which cemmented CL as one if SK's best female rappers. Minzy could have been dubbed the same if only she was given the spot light.

Bruh. I won’t lie, I feel like Minzy was majorly slept on while she was in 2NE1. Don’t get me wrong, all of the members were very talented. CL was definitely a triple threat, Bom had a super unique and dope voice, and Dara was definitely a gorgeous visual and actress I think. But Minzy’s talent was on a whole other level. I felt she didn’t get to shine for her vocals or rap prowess, or lyric writing either. To me, she really was the best member in terms of talent. But 2NE1 are CL, Minzy, Dara, and Bom. The formula they had was absolutely amazing and it truly worked.

@@andiuptown1711 True. Every 2NE1 member had certain role assigned. CL was the rapper, Park Bom vocalist, Dara visuals, Minzy dancer. Each of them did the assigned role very well. However, it doesn't mean each of them has no unique abilities outside the assigned role. CL can do vocals, Dara has soft voice and can play guitar, Minzy can do rap.
