When it came to why you ride, when you ride, and the adverse weather conditions you find yourself in when your riding ( lightning dancing on the pavement in front of you in a thunderstorm ), hail situations and the snow, you just handle it back in the day. 68, retired, fairweather I can handle that too. Not a bad word after all. 50 yrs. of riding, an i still haven't done a ride on a harley, and there were some classics in those easyrider spreads. Current ride 98 VL 1500 Intruder, just a Waterhouse and armourall soap, and she's ready to ride.
I live in Michigan and love riding east Tennessee/North Carolina roads. Took my wife down for 1st annual Smokey Mountain rally last year. We could have left a day early and stayed dry, but we choose to stay and rode for 8 hrs in total down pour on the way home. We survived and have that memory to look back on. First time I went to that area, it was 45 degrees and raining when I left the house. Can't let a little water keep us down!! I did end up stopping at Cabelas an hour into that trip for some waterproof insulated gloves.
You may have relatives or friends that you get along with and never or very seldom have a difference of opinion with them. However, the one person, on earth, that you never encounter a problem with and knows exactly what you like, feel and appreciates and agrees with your every decision is yourself. Do what you like, makes you happy and satisfies your wants, needs and desires and as long as it is not something that goes against The Lord, you will be alright. Prayers and Abundant Blessings to you and yours. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏✝🛐❤
Hey man that starter will come out the back of swingarm take back tire off and inner fender plastic if it's anything like my 94 fxsts Softail springer 1340 evo you got a cool bike rider👍
I share your thoughts fully!! I will be 73 years old this August,,, and I try to ride daily! I always enjoy your bogs and have for quite a while! Ride Safe!
Best not to be Harley snob 😊, it doesn’t matter to me what friends or acquaintances ride it’s all about the adventure, enjoyment, and being with people that share a common interest. “Hardcore” so many definitions to what that really is, personally I don’t like riding in the rain even pillion, prefer a beautiful sunny day. 🙏🏻
Nice video sir Mark I enjoyed it..please drive safe during rainy days .and I'm sure your bike have good tires running good on the wet road.watching from Philippines
Hey Mark, where did you find that tanned skin on the back of your recliner?? I do like that, It is absolutely beautiful. ..... Buffalo possibly, or wolf? Do tell pal, I'm looking for one. Thanks, Greg
I'm 71 and I stiil ride and give all other bikers a howdy wave. My son goes over a 100 on his honda 1000rr and can't catch him but I still try. I ride a 79 shovelhead and still kick start it. Can't beat the stress relief, better than a shrink!
Hello Itchy. I've been enjoying your videos for a couple of years now. I agree. Ride your own ride. I ride for the enjoyment of nature and God's creation. The bike itself is just a machine - a mere tool.
I appreciate your stories and perspectives on life and the motorcycling community. Coincidentally, as I was watching you make that delicious looking salsa I was enjoying tacos at home. Unlike your homemade salsa, I had to settle for Victoria's, nonetheless, a good salsa for store bought. Stay safe, and keep riding.
Harley Davidson the company, under the leadership of today, is on the verge of being everything old school bikers used to hate. I don't use this term much ,but HD has gone woke. I'm sure there's a lot of riders today that hate them for it. On the other hand. They're putting out some of the best bikes ever in their history.Like ole Bob Dylan said. Times they are a changing
Itchy, I’m with you. When you can ride any day of the week, you can pick and choose what weather you want to ride in. And if you ride, you’re gonna get caught in inclement weather; that includes rain. And we do, do that. We ride, you have ridden what, 40, 50 years??? Any clown claiming you’re no biker, hasn’t watched enough of your content. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I agree with about everything you are saying, I feel bad when someone waves and I don’t see it or I wave at them and they don’t wave back.Have a good one thanks Mark
Good video Mark , I’m not retired yet so riding time is limited , but if I know it’s gonna pour rain I wait another day . Like you , not afraid to ride in the rain, but I do not enjoy it, rain gear in the south is more miserable than riding in the rain haha . Enjoyed the video , God Bless
@@lisaward9949 Went to a Birthday party for an Old Brother Wife took the Jeep I got soaked ,Wife went up to the Lee's store and came back to party with a complete set of dry clothes for me . That was the Greatest I'll always remember that .I was soaked . The Old Panhead just power through it like nothing .
I don't mind riding in rain on way home, but not working in wet clothes all day, I don't trust people in 4 wheeler, most don't know how to adjust for road conditions. An with my 1 hr commute I've been caught in the snow an hail.
I agree with you in my 70s now Surgeon says I need both shoulders replaced , Not going to happen trying alternative methods and they are working . My Old Harleys are getting a little heavy for me now days . Might get a classic British motoorcycle a lot lighter first motorcycle was a 1953 AJS in 1969.
I agree that to a biker his motorcycle is the love of his life, and he becomes one with it. To the motorcycle enthusiast the bike is just a machine. Like you say the world is big enough for all. RIDE ON
Mark, you use too ride 600+ miles a day ( at times) on your softail evo fatboy? Ya? I have a 1998 fatboy. And other bikes. A couple evo dressers. Recently purchased a 2016 streetglide 103ci , my first twin cam bike. Riding long distance on a evo softail long distance is a very different experience than riding a evo dresser. Again, riding the late model twin cam dresser is a vastly different ride than the evo dressers. I would liken riding the evo softail to riding a hardtail pan or shovel before ever relating it to a rubber mount bike. The evo softail would be my last choice for long distance if I'd even be willing to do it. If it was my only bike it would probably be a different story I guess. Great video Mark. Thanks for everything.
As for the riding in the rain goes. When I was young all I had to ribe was bikes, and I rode no matter what. I was an only child and I couldn;t handle being alone. Hot, cold, rain and sleet. I was out the door and gone most of the time. So, I put in my time on wet even icy roads and all the rest thay comes with it. It hasn't been that long since It poured down on us. We had to pull over give it a minute, and go again. But I don't leave the house in it.
Itchy you live your life, you ride your way I just done a catch up today on you. Are you still round to doing things? Sorry about your good lady. I’m sorry that I brought it up.
I don't like to ride in the rain, and if you get caught out in the rain, slow down and please have a set of good tires on the bike. Good tires make a big difference in the rain.
Went 2 years riding just a motorcycle and it wasn’t so bad in my 20’s. Now in my mid 50’s I’m thankful I don’t have to do it. 😎👍🇺🇸

The key is as long as you are happy with yourself the heck with everyone else 🏍️
Been there done that

It’s actually a sheep skin. You can find them online in a variety of colors.

Hell yeah Mark!! I do not like riding in the rain. I do but I don’t start in the rain. Can’t wait to retire and chill like you. Less than a year.

No need to take oil. Jug off either may be spring on your jackshaft try messing with it when you pull primary ,hit the starter see what's its doing

I totally agree. Getting soaking wet , not to mention having to clean the bike afterwards is a drag .
Hello itchy we think a lot alike! Luv your videos! Greenville Texas USA!
Thanks mark
I so agree with you itch may we all just do our own thing and enjoy life with friends and family
No need to take oil. Jug off either may be spring on your jackshaft
I live on a dirt road so staying clean is not possible. But I would rather have dirty bike than no bike!
Amen well said itchy I agree god bless .

All of what you said is so true my bike is me and nobody cares have a great day Itchy
I never understand why people want to be out in the rain. The store is always busier when it rains. I can't stand being wet with clothes on lol

I rode in winter and in the rain but prefer sunshine. Keep the rubber side down!

Love chips and salsa. I have had many meals with just those two staples.
All Good😀

You said it itchy, you said it
Hey Itch, maters look good.
I don't need people's approval and praise and glory to Ride 🏍️
Itchy you live your life, you ride your way I just done a catch up today on you. Are you still round to doing things? Sorry about your good lady. I’m sorry that I brought it up.
Back in the 70's, Bubba's Honda Drop.
Got caught in a rain storm in Tennessee a few years back. It rained So Hard it rained INSIDE my Helmet 😂
Dont say whoa in a mud hole.
I just hate leaving the house on the bike in the rain, now if you go through rain riding its cool ,two miles down the road you are dry
I don't like to ride in the rain, and if you get caught out in the rain, slow down and please have a set of good tires on the bike. Good tires make a big difference in the rain.
If I have said it once I have said it a million times , I ride because I enjoy it and if I'm not enjoying it then I don't ride .
What bothers me the most about riding in the rain, is the depth and level of cleaning the bike back up
I like my Harley clean but I bought it to ride it not polish it!😂
"right now i'm just riding a honda but i'll have a harley someday" dac
Not real? Thats bs,do what you like dont worry on what those others say.be blessed,D
I give the "2up" to scooters, I dont give a chit.
Sooner or later , if it has teats or wheels , it's going to give you Trouble
Lol
