For Shuichi even she was shocked too & had hoped Shuichi would defend himself... but he didn't so she was left with no choice but to 'Lie' for him. Defending Tsumugi was easy because it was an easy Truth to persuade. But for Shuichi she was shocked, had waited & hope for Shuichi first to explain himself, but then she was forced to Lie for him.
This series has some of the best music in video games, and this is among the best. Shit just makes me wanna dance during the trials. I also love how it incorporates piano in there, almost as if Kaede is playing it.

There are several reasons beside the story plot that makes the last trial feel... incomplete, you just have to look how he's build, look at the details, what could be missing, the differences with the 2 other games, etc... About the plot, what i found faulty was the fact that they're assuming that EVERY player plays Danganronpa for one thing : watch the students dying. That's where i disagree with the game, and that's also why there are so many people angry at the last case : the build-up is very good but the end itself "doesn't work" with everybody, and so half the people don't have the big ending they were waiting for. It's easy to listen salty people's remarks and consider it's bullshit just because they're salty, however there is a reason why so many people feel disappointed, the plot being only one of these reasons in my opinion.
