@@tuoritto The theme of the Fourth Trial Murderers is a little tricky, but it's Self Sacrifice: Sakura commits suicide, making herself the next victim Monokuma wanted with needing to sacrifice the lives of the others, while also trying to give them information on the mastermind. Gundham and Nekomaru agreed to duel for the right of Killer or Victim, in order for everyone else to be released from the funhouse. While this seems to not make sense at first since Gundham hid the truth for the majority of the trial, he's just putting on an "evil" act so that the others wouldn't regret their votes and sending him off. He also mentions he would have given himself up if the others couldn't figure it out. Gonta, while it's a little ambiguous due to Kokichi's influence, makes it clear that it was his decision to commit the act. In this case, it's the sacrifice is a little different, because of its implications: either he isn't found out as the killer, and everyone else dies sparing them the fate of "The Outside", or he is found out, and dies knowing the "truth". I hope this was helpful! ^^

First Theme: The Unwilling Killer These killers never planned to be the first to start the Killing Game. It was a cruel, unforgiving circumstance that led to these killers drawing the first blood. Leon- He was nearly the victim himself. Tricked by Sayaka, he could have easily been the first victim instead, but Sayaka underestimated his strength, and closed herself in the shower room. Pumped on adrenaline, fear, and survival instinct, Leon killed her instead. Teruteru- He was lured into killing by Nagito. With Nagito willingly revealing his plans to kill someone during the party, Teruteru knew he had to do something to prevent it. However, with the oppressively suspicious atmosphere, and his intense desire to return home to his mom, he let the Killing Game get the best of him, and felt the only solution was to kill Nagito himself. 'Kaede'- She wanted to end the killing game before it could even begin. When Monokuma announced the time limit, it put increasingly more pressure on Kaede's need to find the Mastermind. Taking advantage of Shuichi's plan to simply catch the Mastermind in the act, she knew that maybe more would need to be done. Second Theme: Murder of Familiarity The victims of these first cases remkmd you that no one is safe. A bond you form with a character isn't something that can always remain in these sort of killing games. Sayaka- Sayaka herself as a character is already acquainted with Makoto, giving them a sense of a bond. She acts as the tutorial for the first Free Time Event and throughout Chapter One is always at your side. You spend a significant time with her. 'Twogami'- Twogami is a familiar face in the sea of new characters introduced. Unlike the rest, we know who this is (at least, we believewe do), we know how he acts, and we allow ourselves to think 'if he's survived once, he can survive again'. V3 actually has a special double entourage, because this applies to both Victim and 'Killer'. Rantaro- If you've ever compared Rantaro's and Nagito's sprites side by side, you'll find that they resemble each other quite a bit. This wasn't the developers being lazy and reusing poses; it was an intentional and subtle way of giving the players a sense of familiarity with him. You look at his body language and immediately think 'Yeah, this guy reminds me of Nagito', and you already feel an unconscious connectionto him. It's essentially what they did with Twogami but much, much subtler. Kaede- As our Protagonist for the prologue and first chapter, we're literally in her head for the first good hour or two. We know her personality inside in out, we know how she feels, what she thinks, and she even shares with us her fondest memories. The only times we (cleverly) don't clearly know her thoughts is while she's preparing her trap for the Mastermind. She is the most familiar we can be with a character, and especially with what we learn later in the game about the truth of Rantaro's murder, it just becomes more and more clear Kaede is just as much a victim.
@@Allthegoodhandlesaretaken-_- in actuality the "believing in hope" was getting old already on THH, considering how Makoto's version (aka main version) was absolutely tasteless and boring, meanwhile Nagito's version was actually really compelling because it was completely different compared to how literally everyone else perceived it, on top of having an actual philosophy, that's what made DR2 so good in the first place, of course past Nagito you can't really reprise that theme once again, considering the masterpiece you already created with Komaeda, so the only left thing the franchise could have done was to reject it, Kokichi infact has a philosophy that is linked with lies and truths, while Nagito had it for hope and despair Sorry but you can't get more unpredictable and wild than V3, the game negged any possibility of a sequel to ever happen, and cash grab spin-offs would just fuck up things badly...on top of proving V3's ending even more lol Sorry what's FNF?
Ots a trilogy. Game 1 is hope, game two is the middle path. Game 3 is the rejection of the world as a whole. Thematically it's closest to despair as the three games point to different needles in the spectrum.
I like imagining the dead students always joining a ghost ensemble to play the investigation themes, and then the last victim (Mukuro for DR 1)just grabs a guitar and everybody goes ham. But honestly, I'd just love to see Nagito and Kokichi jamming out with their respective cast.
Makoto: "this is enough" theme of a person that tries to resist his fear and fight back Hajime: well considering that we really hear it only in trial 5 we can call it "what did you do this time Komaeda" Shuichi: "These riddles start to bug me" theme, when even Ultimate Detective had enough of looking for murderers in his classmates.
Imo, hajime's theme is more of "Shit has really hit the fan" The chaotic bouncieness and rock give the song a more panicked, confused vibe. Which makes sense in the context, as the "murder" was damn near impossible, as it relied on nagito's luck. It's like nagito's malice has finally been revealed, and the students are determined to stop it.
It's possible that they're both hints to the death's intentions Kill Command: Nagito was trying to cause an unsolvable murder, since he knew that they were all "Ultimate Despair"/ They were trying to find the evidence for the final class trial to escape the simulation Hope Searching: Kokichi arranged his death alongside Kaito as a means to catch even Monokuma off guard, and try to end the killing game for all/ Shuichi was trying to find the clues to remedy the mistakes of Trial 1 with the hopes of catching the Mastermind
Shuichi is interesting because he was thrown into the role of a protagonist. D1 and 2 had a class pecking order when it came to the mysteries and everyone tried to contribute. In v3, they look to shuichi for all the answers.

@@gravity6525in my opinion, Ekorisha is the second worst investigation theme in the series, only above its 8-Bit version. I’d say Ikoroshia is way better. Feel free to disagree if you want, it’s just my opinion.
Box 16: We know there's 16 students, and that student is dead! Just who killed that student? Who was the victim? Is the victim the mastermind? Ekoroshia/Kill command: We don't have any concrete proof on who the killer is, just who killed him?! Is this the perfect murder?! Hope Searching: Who is the victim? Who is the killer? Is the detective going to figure this out? Or is he going to be as confused as anybody in the confusing lie. This is the perfect murder and both sides are not going to be left unscaved. AND WHY IS MONOKUMA HELPING US. V3 just does both questions of the games, who is the killer from 2 and who is the victim from 1. We have a detective and even Monokuma is willing to help us in the trial as he doesn't even know what's going on, this is the epitome and climax that every danganronpa has led to. THE ultimate murder.
That's what I absolutely loved about V3's 5th case; Monokuma having absolutely no idea what's going on for once and teaming up with the group to find the answer. Both culprit and victim took him for a wild ride on purpose. The bear had it coming for once!

Trial 5 of Danganronpa 2 had Nagito kill himself to try and get the rest of the class executed (Minus Chiaki - the perpetrator), since they were all Ultimate Despair. In other words, a... misguided sense of hope. Chapter 6 was finding the truth, and using it to end the killing game. Trial 5 of Danganronpa V3 was Kokichi trying to create an unsolvable murder, (with the assistance of Kaito), that even Monokuma didn't know the identity of. Trial 6: Trying to corner the mastermind by using new evidence from a past trial to catch them off guard
Yeah, something about this playing during your search of the school while Kiibo’s fight with the Existstals threatens to bring the walls down around you just feels so epic (I just wish there wasn’t an actual time limit, especially one so short).

This makes you wonder if the title's because: Chapter 5: Kokichi sacrificed himself to stop the killing game (With the help of Kaito) - since there'd be a 33 (Kaito - orchestrating the crime, since it was established at that point that he'd helped)/33 (Kokichi - the video/consuming the antidote)/33(Maki - shooting the poison arrows) split of the possible culprits Chapter 6: They had a chance to end the game once and for all
So are we just going to ignore how it took 6 Chapters for Kiibo to finally do something about being a Robot, and also get a personality outside of "ThAt'S rObOpHoBic!1!" and Himiko taking the whole fucking game to stop being a walking "Meh" emoji; even though everyone who died in the first 2 chapters had infinitely more personality and interesting characterization?
I get what you're saying about Himiko, although she got better after chapter 3, but I don't agree with what you're saying about Kiibo, since *Spoilers for the final trial of V3!* Kiibo's decisions were at least partially dictated by the audience. Likely to stop him from getting an unfair advantage they were also the ones stopping him from actually using the stuff in his lab. That is, until the outside world's way of relaying orders, his ahoge, was broken at the end of chapter 5. Now, having actual free will he could do what he always wanted: help his friends end the killing game. He wasn't useless of his own volition, somebody else decided that for him.

Yes I'll admit that sacrifice right at the end was metal as fuck, but the time it took to get there felt bogged down by nothingness from him. Personally, Kiibo is one of my favourite characters in the franchise, but I get why some people don't like him, what you said being one of the reasons. It doesn't help that the times they tried to put him into the spotlight he was still overshadowed by other characters and thus only seemed relevant towards the end, but since I focused on him early on I didn't really notice that. And concerning Himiko I gotta admit I would have preferred if Tenko survived instead, but I loved her voicework in the last trial.
@@greenxlady4585 For me, Himiko was the lesser of two evils over Tenko. Everybody always points to Tenko's final moments before she is killed- but I'm sorry. That point literally comes right out of nowhere and tries to build up an emotional connection to yank the carpet out from underneath the player. At literally no other point, and I mean *literally* no other point in the entirety of the game was Tenko ever that calm, quiet, and endearing. Go back and replay the first two chapters. All she ever did was yell and berate the boys, or constantly thirst and lust for Himiko. Even during the Ultimate Talent Development Plan, Tenko continues to be a generally awful person to sit and suffer through during the "Friendly" events where she bashes boys and constantly talks down at them. So maybe I'm the weirdo here, but I don't see how you can make a Misandrist who willingly and openly attacks boys (See: Shuichi FTE 1 and when you first open her Ultimate Lab) into a "sympathetic" person.

between sdr2 and V3, the ones who die in chapter 5 are usually the "psychos" of the group and the ones executed end up being characters close to the protagonist.
It is a staple of the series to use a remix of the main investigation theme in the last two cases. And we did get a special version of Despair Searching for Chapter 4 anyway lol.

I really like how the "students" were actually searching for Hope in chapter 6. But then they rejected it at the final moment.

That's what I absolutely loved about V3's 5th case; Monokuma having absolutely no idea what's going on for once and teaming up with the group to find the answer. Both culprit and victim took him for a wild ride on purpose. The bear had it coming for once!
@@VenomLeon I guess you can also link Trials 5 and 6 to Hope as well. Trial 5 of Danganronpa 2 had Nagito kill himself to try and get the rest of the class executed (Minus Chiaki - the perpetrator), since they were all Ultimate Despair. In other words, a... misguided sense of hope. Chapter 6 was finding the truth, and using it to end the killing game.
Trial 5 of Danganronpa V3 was Kokichi trying to create an unsolvable murder, (with the assistance of Kaito), that even Monokuma didn't know the identity of.
Trial 6: Trying to corner the mastermind by using new evidence from a past trial to catch them off guard

The 6th investigation when the odds are so high was really cool with this music playing the background
Yeah, something about this playing during your search of the school while Kiibo’s fight with the Existstals threatens to bring the walls down around you just feels so epic (I just wish there wasn’t an actual time limit, especially one so short).
Haven't played the game yet and this already screams like a major plot twist and possibly the final investigation theme.

Kiibo's decisions were at least partially dictated by the audience. Likely to stop him from getting an unfair advantage they were also the ones stopping him from actually using the stuff in his lab. That is, until the outside world's way of relaying orders, his ahoge, was broken at the end of chapter 5. Now, having actual free will he could do what he always wanted: help his friends end the killing game.
He wasn't useless of his own volition, somebody else decided that for him.

Personally, Kiibo is one of my favourite characters in the franchise, but I get why some people don't like him, what you said being one of the reasons. It doesn't help that the times they tried to put him into the spotlight he was still overshadowed by other characters and thus only seemed relevant towards the end, but since I focused on him early on I didn't really notice that.
And concerning Himiko I gotta admit I would have preferred if Tenko survived instead, but I loved her voicework in the last trial.
@@greenxlady4585 For me, Himiko was the lesser of two evils over Tenko. Everybody always points to Tenko's final moments before she is killed- but I'm sorry. That point literally comes right out of nowhere and tries to build up an emotional connection to yank the carpet out from underneath the player. At literally no other point, and I mean *literally* no other point in the entirety of the game was Tenko ever that calm, quiet, and endearing. Go back and replay the first two chapters. All she ever did was yell and berate the boys, or constantly thirst and lust for Himiko.
Even during the Ultimate Talent Development Plan, Tenko continues to be a generally awful person to sit and suffer through during the "Friendly" events where she bashes boys and constantly talks down at them. So maybe I'm the weirdo here, but I don't see how you can make a Misandrist who willingly and openly attacks boys (See: Shuichi FTE 1 and when you first open her Ultimate Lab) into a "sympathetic" person.

between sdr2 and V3, the ones who die in chapter 5 are usually the "psychos" of the group and the ones executed end up being characters close to the protagonist.
