what a BS ,, shelby never designed anything , the cars where designed and build by AC cars in the uk , shelby only sold them , he was nothing more than a salesman , only 1 daytona coupe was build in the USA, and one or 2 cobra's but nothing more ,, also steve mcqueen never owned a cobra !!!,, do your reasearch before you post something !!

Rolly Polly below is right. Superformance isn't "a small California company". It is a medium-sized South African company. Also, Carroll Shelby was NOT "the designer" of the Cobra. While it was his idea to mate the small-block Ford V-8 to the last incarnation of the AC Ace sports car (the Ruddspeed AC Ace powered by the 2.6 Zephyr motor, which had come AFTER the AC Ace-Bristol), how could he be "the designer" of an EXISTING, sports car he had had no hand in designing several years earlier? Furthermore, how could the Shelby estate have sold the licensing rights to the Shelby AC Cobra, when AC Cars Ltd. of Thames-Ditton, Surrey, south of London, and its boss Charles Hurlock, HAD NEVER SOLD THE DESIGN RIGHTS OF THE EXISTING CAR, AND ITS TOGEIRO TUBULAR CHASSIS, TO SHELBY? Check out Ol' Shel's February 5, 1962 contract with AC Cars Ltd. How can you sell something that was never yours to begin with? The only things that the estate was able to sell to Superformance were the licensing rights to the name "Cobra", which Ol' Shel did own, and his snake badge...full stop.
