On the ordinary bus/tram (no airport express,) there are yellow boxes for only validating and orange boxes with display. These are intended for buying tickets. You can pay by card/NFC phone, charge is so small, that it's most time free from entering pin. This ticket is already "validated."

I can’t really tell if it’s the B line, because I was focusing on exit and chatting with the guys to I didn’t take notice of the line

How many times do you u have to validate your ticket's can i use same ticket on bus and trams trains?
Just once. It will print the time and date you validate the ticket. If you validate 2 x ticket become INVALID. You can use on all public transportation except express bus from the airport to the city. Thats one time charge 100 crowns
What bus did you take to the metro and what metro to city center?
Bus # 119 ! End stop is at the Metro Station (Green line) To city centre you can get out at Mustek (exit : Vaclavske Namesti) and you’ll see one of the most impressive and beautiful buildings of Prague (The National Museum )
