And by law you have to have it when buying a house. At least that is how it is in my state. Other states who knows anymore
@@Emmy-J in Kentucky, you don’t have to get home insurance. However, most banks here do require it if you have a mortgage through them.
Insurance is a joke you need an attorney to get a claim
Florida is ahead of you. They file claims through their attorneys. Why do you suppose HO policies cost over 6K and some even more per year?
As much as the insurance has gone up they shouldn't have a right do this.
Not to mention your forced to get everything insured. If you still have a loan or vehicle you have to pay for it. We worked so hard and someone said home ownership was a dream come true. 9 years later been worst thing we ever did.

Hurricane zone? Dang I thought Cypress and North of Houston was safe from hurricane issues like flooding, but those areas flood worse than living in Houston itself

The more of the cheap rapidly created subdivisions that spring up in the Cypress area, the greater the flooding.
They built huge housing tracks right in flood zones. Texas is like the Wild West you can’t trust anything is done right or well lol.
Had auto insurance with progressive. Our insurance went up and their reason was that in our zip code more accidents happened there

If you're in the path of hurricanes, the insurance company has the right to not renew.

@bobroberts2371 According to law all mortgages must have insurance coverage. Are you new to the area... FEMA has done nothing. All claims have to go to insurance first. They are forcing if damages are sustained there is nothing for you but loss. How many times has Houston been demolished by storms?

Nope, this is risk analysis and not renewing policies that are high risk. This is sorta like not being able to get car insurance after your 9th collision....
